  1. From a guy whos avatar looks to read " balls out" ?
  2. I had a friend that was named "justin" , His dad said "just in case I wasnt the father". So far the best my wife has come up with is "junk" "trash" and " what good is that"
  3. Thats awesome. Thanks a ton !!!! Now all I need is to find one of those "cobra" things setting in a barn to go with it..lol
  4. I know someone in here knows what this is or what its for. I found it hanging on a rack in an old tire store here local. The size is an L60/15. I think it would look killer with an old ansen in it hanging on the wall
  5. I'm not sure whats better, the questions or the responces trying to talk sence to these people.
  6. I got tierd of reading all the back and forth about the door issue, so I jumped to the end. Just wanted to add my 2 cents. about 15 years or so ago, I ran across one of the studio cars (#11 i think, or 1#2 maybe) I was 15 at the time, so I was all over it. The owner came up to me and asked if I wanted to sit in it...well duh. But He said I had to "Duke It" and go in the window. I said "because its welded?" He replyed " No, but after so many stunt jumps the doors wont clear the front fenders. Nice guy, great car. But I have to agree with alot of people that as a movie replica, I dont think the doors should open...But killer model non the less, great build. I just got my own mpc tin set. Cant wait to get it open.
  7. I think that because you are useing a "flat head" block to build on, your fine. But its an interesting question. Reminds me of an argument I got into with someone about "500" cid small blocks...
  8. Now, lets say I purches said parts and go home to cast my own, then sell those. Who gets paid now? Which brings me to my question, If the said parts to "be" cast, didnt come from a unit marked as "trade marked" or "under licence of"? Is it open season? I've wondered about this kind of stuff myself for a wile too.
  9. The wild and crazy bends, and tube length come into play with the fireing order (and valve pulse) of the engine, not just the fitting in the car thats why the GT40 picture in the early end of this topic had pipes coming from one side to the other and not just off the head and out the back. There really is alot of science behind them, turbo or not. Dave, those 45deg welded header pics are gorgeous !!!!! And ohhhhh so functional.
  10. I looked but may have missed it, where are you getting the "moon eye" decals ? I would like to get my hands on some if you found them after market. Great job.
  11. Thanks Tony.. I've started to assemble the engine, I should be able to get it black washed and wired this weekend I hope. I dropped the box down a little more. I hope the moon tank still fits under. I'm thinking I need to bring the front engine mounts down a smidge also. I think I've stalled on the body work long enough, once the engine is done I guess I bette start on that portion of it. It helps me to stay motivated to see some color on something, so I end up jumping around a bit back and forth. Thanks for looking guys.
  12. THis is going to be my entry into the Revell contest. Its way out of my comfort zone, but I figured "why not". I started by back halfing a lindberg 53 vicki and using it for the box. I like the 53 because its a little rounder and lands itself to the 37 cab pretty nice I think. Here you can get a rough idea where its going. With the cab chopped, sectioned and channeled, I had to bring the "box" down a little bit more to match it. I think I'm going to leave the bed just as a shell over the frame work with the trunk lid open to show it all and the moon tank. Here you can see it coming together a little more with the painted frame. I shortend the frame in the center about 3/8" and set the flathead back about 1/2". I tryed to use the white wall decals, but they would not stay on the tire at all, but I'm starting to dig the black wall and chrome ring look. I have some small chrome center bullets for it to put on latter. I should have more to post in a week or so.
  13. At leastthey were smart enough to spray the flames AWAY from the eveyone...well after a wile anyways. Wasnt it Albert Einstein who said "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." I'm mean really, when you start washing the fire off the car and onto the street, maybe you should stop?
  14. In this neck of the woods, most of the city and county officers are going to Hemi Chargers. The staters went with alot of 2dw tahoes a few years back. They seem to do pretty well, even in the bad weather.
  15. I work in a dealership, so there isnt much in the form of hobbie supplys, but I do come across some pretty good finds as far as what Chrysler calls scrap parts (warrenty parts they do not want returned) The best one recently was just before we lost our Chevy franchise. We did a head swap on a brand new 454 ho crate motor for GM performance. It didnt fix the problem they were having so they had us replace the whole engine... for some reason they wanted the old engine with the new heads back, not the original heads (less then 8k on them). As of right now, I'm having a hard time convincing my wife that a free set of heads is a good reason to build a big block chevy...and a big block chevy is a good reason to build a big block car..
  16. I always reach for the old standard handle. feels like a pencile in my hand. Just kinda natural. My wife asks me why I have so many styles, and I havent quite figured out a good answer to that one yet.
  17. I asked along time ago about a "lowrider" tab on the main page of the forum. Maybe enough of these and there might be one. Its nice to see more and more of them built.
  18. The ingraving on the x-frame is a nice touch, really brings back the good ol days of "lowrider" magazine......before all the adds and ######. Reminds me of the (real) cars you would see that were honest, street driven "show cars", not over the top "show queens"..very nice.
  19. I can respect that. I would feel the same way if it was a big rig or motorcycle build, just not my cup of tea.
  20. I guess thats the other reason I was stoked to hear about it...there isnt a big show venue around this area, and if there is, its kept secret pretty well. An online contest (whats not done online these days?) was my ticket to participate in something.
  21. Personaly I thought that the way its set up for building and judging kinda levels the playing field, but I've never been in a contest or even to a real show so that doesnt say a whole lot. I agree with the comment that the "Hot Rod" theme doesnt really play into building muscle cars ( i.e. Mopars), but whos to say that the next contest wont be "Muscle Car" themed. I just thought it was cool for something like this to take place when I read about it. I guess I'm really excited for it because it gives me an excuse to step out side of my comfort zone and really hack something up knowing I have a deadline. I've tryed really hard not to get to involved in one project and get burnt out sence coming back into this hobby. Maybe its just me.
  22. My apologise, I'm thinking of the 200 then. Didnt meen to miss lead you. You might also check to make sure the tip and needle are matched in size, if it came with more then one set.
  23. I believe the 150 is a single action internal mix...meaning one action (pressing the trigger) is all thats needed to spray. The screw should just set the amount of air traveling past the needle, but with air will come paint.
  24. I've seen lots of posts about the contest and info for it, but I havent seen anything about who is going to enter and what. Is this something thats not normaly shared? does anyone plan on keeping things closed untill the contest is over? I've got my entry figured out, but im not sure if its "proper" to post such things. Anyone?
  25. Just AWESOME!!!, I wonder what those cars sounded like back in the day.
