AMT's new Challenger kits are out
moparmagiclives replied to SteveG's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not that we're missing much under the hood anyways.....there isnt much cool to see other than coil packs and conv. tubing, and the rt is coved anyway. -
Does anyone here have or know where I can get some large decals, like you would see on a race car with the logo and some sponser type decals. The boat is about 30" long ( I think that puts it at about 1/10th scale) so I need a few and they need to be pretty big. Not sure what i want yet, just looking for options. I dont even know what color I will paint it yet.

Here is my son and our 5 year old English Bull, we also have two cats, but the bull is funner. Just dont let her get anything in her mouth. Its gone if she does. Ever seen a car key bit in half ??? -
I graduated from UTI out of Phoenix in 99. Some of the best times of my life were left there. I wish they had the tuner progrm when I was there, but I did go to HOT ROD'U. Hope you get in and enjoy it, It can be a really expensive hobby or a great stepping stone if its something your interested in it as a career. I'm 28 and am a director at a 4 franchize dealer, I would strongly recomend taking the diesel with the automotive, I didnt and had to learn it all on the job. Wish I would have had some background on them first, thankfully Cummins hasnt changed much sience 1986 though. Great pics and good reporting.

Fast and Furious

If your talking about the girl he falls for (Neela), she's from Peru. Her names Nathalie Kelley. Try google, I dont think shes been in many films. -
Fast and Furious
moparmagiclives replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The tag "Fast and the Furious" is a franchise, much like "national lampoon". It was never ment to be filmed as 1,2,3,4,5 and so on. All the characters seem to blend at one point or another. I'm just glad they've seened to keep the same actors so far. I cant wait to see it my self, the first film set the stage for the vibe but "Tokyo Drift" is my favorite so far. Moslty for the opening race that ends with the star in the police station shooting a @#$% eating grin at the girl with a bloody grill. (man that was great) -
Does anyone think there is enough LSR or lakester type of builds to devote a seperate section for them, like the Drag and Nascar topic sections. Just a thought, I'm looking to build one and was noticing there is'nt one section to look for insperation or ideas from other builders.

Did anyone ever build the "frankn-stude" curbsid kit. My dad gave me one for my birthday like 14 years ago, still sitting on my shelf. Have'nt had the curage to tackle it yet, always wanted to make it a full detail model.
-
I think my favorite part of the build is the wiped windshield. Now as for the "b" movies, your next assignment if you so chose too, is the mustang from "Nightrider 2010". Think 1994 or 95, late night on USA. Extra credit for a dio with the cherry cobra sitting next to it in the desert. But really, very nice job on this one, movie builds are one of my favorites to see. Most people never see a complete car so there is so much left to the imaginaton of the builder to finish them, alot of artistic licence and who is to say its not right when its done. Again nice job.

It would be a great painting exercise to leave the lego texture under the paint on the shop walls and roof line and duplicate it on your models, fine lines and some small round rod for the "lego" block look. Almost like a lego model of a plastic model of a real shop.....wait I think I'm lost now.

Sorry about the pics,.....cell phone camara.

Well aside from the upper rad hose that I lost and the sterring wheel I cant decide on, I'm calling this done for now. Its pretty stock other than parts box wheels, flocked carpet and scratch built seat belts ( pop cans and cloth electrical tape ). The color is snake skin geeen from mopar for the new vipers. Its my first at any kind of interior detail, not much elseware, I hate molded exhaust. Thanks for looking guys. Any CC is always welcome.

Real or Model #82 FINISHED!
moparmagiclives replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
I say its real, those are pretty low profile tires and I'm not sure how much they would buldge. But only the person with the money to build something like that would hang something like that on the hood. -
New F1 rule...
moparmagiclives replied to Len Colombo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I dont know much about or watch much Indy or F1 ,but I thought racing was to finish first. I'm not saying the guys in 2nd,3rd and so on dont deserve somthing for the effort. But I also dont think the guys that (what I feel is sandbagging) hang back all year and just rack up points, should be able to take it away from the ones who get out there and fight for the wins.I have mixed feelings on this kind of stuff I guess. -
Great color and I love the molded visor ....but what is a glue bomb anyway? looks to be a pretty good shape.

Kind of an I'm bored question
moparmagiclives replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I look at the term "tuner" as a discription of what your doing. I.E., pluging in a lap top to your stand-a-loan controler and tuning the fuel map for more top end.Bolt on performance parts have been around as long as the people cutting on factory parts have, but "tuning" didnt realy come around untill the more complex control systems started poping up I would say. I would consider the SHO Taurus more of an import or a crotch rocket than a muscle car though, what with the insane reving yamaha parts. As far as the others, I dont know there was much to tune on the SVO Mustang or the Grand National of that time was there? Pretty primitive ECU's I think. I'm sure Jet or some one makes a chip but again its bolt on. Lap tops and data link connectors dont mix well with 4 barrels, mine keeps getting stuck in the choke. -
Brake from models
moparmagiclives replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For me models are my getaway, from my Job ( I get so board with the every day repairs, its nice to be able to see something kinda exotic or custom) and away from the 1:1 Falcon in the garage (3 years now ). -

moparmagiclives replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If your trying to compare them, you realy can't. But if you sit back and look at what has happened to the world of automotive technology, you can see where its been and where its going, And where they do evolve from one to the next. During the muscle car craze it was all about the cubic inch, with the fuel control and the material advances we've had, the same C.I.D. can be made with 4 cyd's and 14 psi of boost. look at the eco-tec in the cobalts or the srt-4's in the neon and caliber. 300 hp from 2.4 liters. Not even to mention inports or euros. I like to think the "tuners" and such are standing in the evolutuionary line just as the flathead ford and 265/283 chevy did before the hemi as well as other big blocks of the 60's and 70's. The cars of the 80's just suffer from living in some of the worst times of emission and fuel milage standards with limed testing and technology, giving them poor performance and bad reputations. But they are what they are. Has anyone seen a direct injection gas engine? Pretty impressive, but even more so is the compression fired gasoline engines coming very shortly.Talk about a new generation. -
Real or Model #80 FINISHED!
moparmagiclives replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
I say model, if not then this guy should get some money back from the restore. I think they lost some of the window trim. -
Went to the nearest LHS (about 90 miles) and picked up some more model master water paints, a few gadgets and the revell special edition 68 charger and 70 nova wile the wife was shopping for the kids. Man is there a lot of stuff in those kits, not many like it that I've seen around in wile. Need more 2 and 3-in-1 kits I think.

tranny question
moparmagiclives replied to noname's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The borg warner 4 speed (t10) came out in the late 50's, like 57 or 59, the muncie 4 speed (m21-m22) didnt came till like 63-64. they both made 3 speeds as well as saginaw. Chrysler used the New Process A903 (3 speed) and the A833 (4 speed) in the early 60's then went on to other New Process models. I'm sure theses went with most of there engine packages. Hope this helps. -
Great viper and great color choice, the green is my favorite on the new models. How was this kit to build? I would like to get a coupe to build myself. This is a pic of one at the shop fresh off the truck, 600 horse and 6 speeds-o-fun.
