  1. After a little more hacking and sanding, I got the frame to sit just about right on the floor pan I have the suspension mocked up, but I can see that I will need to bring the rear crossmember off the pan a little to keep the tires from rubbing. This is probly the wheel/ tire combo I will be useing. not much room for a slick back there anymore. I've been thnking about engine options, a hemi is just to obvious, all I have left of the kit ford cammer engine is the chrome tree. But thumbing through the "gasser wars" book (witch is great by the way) I seen a picture of a willys running two turbos into a chevy injection plenum. Think that might be where I'm going with this. It was done in the sixtys so its still old school right ??...lol. I'm not really hard core enough to be buying resin parts yet, so ill probly use the turbo from the (revell I think) 56 chevy.
  2. I dont know whats cooler, the car, or you useing a piece of steel and magnets as a jig....freaking awesome, never thought of that.
  3. After a little surgery the frame cleaned up pretty nice. With a little file and sand work it should mate to the J's floor pan just fine . It scares me at how easy it was to make the frame fit the pan and how close the wheel base is with out changing anything so far...lol
  4. I've had this Henry J body for a long time now, and havent been able to decide what I want to do with it. Until this weekend that is. Cleaning out some parts boxes and sorting stuff into the parts bin, I came across a bunch of 69 roadster vette parts. My plan is to build this J into a non traditional gasser with IFS and IRS. The rest should be pretty standard gasser era parts and bits. This is also my first building thread so please, be gentile.
  5. years ago when I was younger first starting to build with my dad, he gave me a jimmy flinstone testors/model master "milk truck" and "stude wagon". I'm not sure if its because they're resin, or just the memories, but I would rather look at them on the shelf than risk fowling them up. He still askes when Im giong to start them, and I say " as soon as I get a few of these others done" and he says, well hell youll never get to them.
  6. Why do I feel like we should all be wearing big puffy coats and talking with Maine accents...
  7. The transport driver told me that GM noticed that also, and because this is there project, I guess they were less that happy to see his portion to the cause. I think its funny myself, mostly because they are cutting our contract. But thats a story for latter times.
  8. I was lucky enough to get to see this car when it was pulled off the transporter to get our Viper off for the dealership. It was on its way to Nashville I was told, to the CMA Awards to finish getting signed by the country stars before action. I done a little cut and paste, there were far to many drivers names on it to get them all in one picture. I was told that we were very, very lucky to see this, as its been under pretty tight wrap...so i thought it only fit to share with the great people of this forum, that i'm very lucky to be a part of.
  9. My first car was a 1964 ford falcon futura, 2 door hard top. Bought in 1994 It had a 289 and a c4. it was fun and plenty fast for a 14 year old. I worked on till i was in my senior year and drove the wheels off it. Fast forward thru collage, marrage and 3 babys, Its still sitting in my garage with a .060 over 351 ready to drop in and just getting done with the undercar/air bag set up. Front disk conversion with 15 inch powder coated blue ranger wheels with trim rings ans spider caps on the way, probly never paint it though......someday it should be a ton-o-fun again.
  10. did you layer more color over the black billboard decal to get that effect?
  11. I have been out of the hobbie for about a year now what with moving and kids and all, I've been wanting to get something going for a few months now and was thinking of a lsr car, this would be a great chance to get started again. I'm in.
  12. .....When you grab the can of spray paint that you didnt properly take care durring the end of your last "bad build night", now you have a poka-dot candi paint job brought to you by a lesson not learned x2
  13. Cool kit but, even cooler boondock poster.
  14. I totaly agree. I just hope they can find enough stuff to cover to keep it a model mag. Its not working so well for the 1:1 mags of this kind. Seems as they are starting to lean to a variety type or " life style " mag then a car one. But just my 2 cents
  15. Those inside shots bring back some memories but for some reason they remind me of something a little newer, anyone sat in a new camaro? Its like your flying a poorly assembled plane built by a failing company.....did I mention there not going to renew or contract next year. Anyway, great builds guys.
  16. Can't say much for the sound, but a nail head in her best dress is hard to beat for looks, next to a flatty or a 348/409 that is. I used to think my 64 falcon with the over cammed 289 ( now its a 351w, but i havent fired it off yet ) and glass packs sounded sweet. That is untill a customer came in this summer and gave me a ride in his 67 gtx, 440 shifting at 10,050 with electric cut outs. Man was that sick. Here's one I bet most havent heard. Do a search for ported rotory motors ( probably find videos from japan ). If its extensive enough, they lope like a top fueler when the rotor passes both ports at idel, then wind up like a dremmel tool when the pedal drops.
  17. I myself am also a certified Chrysler tech, whos gone on to being the service and parts director (baby sitter) of a 4 chain dealer ( that is untill chevrolet pulls our contract next year). Then its just Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. I graduated from UTI in 99 and have also wanted to move on to being an Instructor for Chrysler, but due to the fact that they have cut my district down from 4 to 1.5 ( dont ask ) instructors, I'm thinking of trying to get on at the community collage auto depo sometime down the road.
  18. .............Music to my ears.
  19. I watched the movie again this weekend, the only time I seen the 66 cobra, was in the wearhouse in the opening scene. It looked black or dark blue. My question is , should I build as close to that as possible even though "Ashly" was'nt in the movie untill the second boost. Or is there a little creative licence to be taken do to the fact that it was never shown as "Ashly". The only reason I'm asking is that one of the things that made this movie for me was the fact that most of these cars were not just text book stockers, but reflections of the owners ( even though you never realy seen the owners) . I.E. the merc and the hummer and even the 67 shelby, all were good examples of alot of pride put into the daily use of a vehicle. But at the same time there was'nt much to mistake for what model of vehicle they were, just very personalized. What does everyone else think.
  20. ....................oooops... when ever i see grey primer i think Nova.
  21. Its not on the list, but a bullit riddeled nova would be kinda cool to build.
  22. ............anyone have a cobra they're not going to build or want to trade off ?
  23. I'm down for Ashly if shes not taken.
  24. Is It too late to start buiilding for this one, I've been packing and moving for the last month and havent been able to pay much mind to the site. What is the dead line? I've got a "Miss Deal" body that would great for kit bashing together.
