Small update. I puttied and sanded. Glued the hood to the body, then sprayed some Mr Surfacer 1000 on the body and hood for a base. Have not decided on the color. I have silver blue metallic and burgundy red metallic in stock, although I was thinking gold.

Yes, same basic kit, Patrick. The Revell version I used was simply called "T" Bucket and had funky dual headlights. I cut off the outside lights.

I just noticed the old Auto World decals in the background of the red car. I have some of those from WAYYYYY back! Model on!

Boy, I like that color. Great job on this classic old kit. I pick up as many used kits at swap meets as I can. These are great for parts!

I picked up a built Boothill Express at a swap meet for $5 to steal the wheels and tires, but this gives me a good idea for what to do with the rest of it! Great imagination!

I added this build to the trucks section because of the pickup bed on this tried but true Revell kit. I built this model in the late eighties or early nineties (based on the color and graphics). I used an orange plastic version of this kit and added the independent suspension from the Revell Buttera Tee sedan. Engine bits came from the Revell Corvette Pro Street along with the graphics decals. Wheels and tires from a MPC Chevy Monza with an IMSA fender package. Looks like one of the front wheels is wonky from a repair over the years and the epoxy on the front lights has yellowed. Still a survivor.

I like it as a diorama. Such a neat old drag car.

I found an old saw at a pawn shop for $5.00 and picked up a couple of small clamps at Harbor Freight. I had to do some grinding to fit the clamp to the saw, but it all works great! Thanks for the tip. I use some foam shelf liner stuff to hold the bottle to the clamp, otherwise it can go flying...

Craig, the two you mentioned also survive. The are in a box of salvaged old kits. One day the "4 Banger dragster" may ride again. Not much left of the Green Hornet. I appreciate your interest.

I call this collection "old school rods" provided by my favorite modeling buddy who unfortunately passed away last year (RIP). Photos were taken before I tried to salvage some of these treasures. Only the drivers made it out!

Years ago I owned a really nice street driven 1966 Chevy II with a hot 327, manually shifted powerglide, and 12 bolt rear with 4.88 gears. I had it tubbed and added a six point roll bar. When AMT released the 1966 Nova Street Machine kit, tried to replicate my car. Here I am the day I won my first bracket race at the local track. Happily, a friend had a photographer taking pictures of all the cars that day. To this day, I am sorry I sold that car to go faster.

I really like this 1938 Custom Ford Delivery Funny Car! Great imagination and construction. There is always a good use for those funny car kits. I am glad you spent the time adding details and finishes.

I worked myself into a dilemma. I was all set to glue the hood scope to the hood before I shot a coat of primer on the body. I taped in the windshield to help center the scoop, taped the hood from underneath to keep it from moving, then lined up the scoop to take this picture: Then I thought, wait a minute, how am I going to paint the underside of the scoop and the portion of the hood that is visible inside the scoop? Right now I am thinking I should paint all the parts separate and bond the scoop to the hood after paint. Thoughts? Comments? Has anyone built this match car before?

I really like what is going on here. Anxious to see how your engine turns out. Love the early Chrysler in drag cars. Great parts collection. I built a shorty version of the Garlits car back when the kit first came out (1971?) based on the Hot Rod coverage when it won the Winternationals. Recently, I slammed one out of a box of already builts my modeling friend found for me. No decals yet...

Started on the body. Reattached the custom front and rear valances. I have puttied and sanded to smooth them out, but no pictures yet. body work is a struggle for me, I don't have the touch.

I see you get distracted like me. I often break for restoration projects, or the "what does this look like after I soak it in the tub of purple stuff" addiction. I cleaned up and polished the paint on an already built one a friend provided.

The 1970 Chevelle ended up on a Revell 1967 Chevelle Pro Street chassis. In this case, the difference between 1/24 and 1/25 did not matter much. Oops!! Never put the engine in...
