I am impressed how fast you went from idea to completed model. The model is outstanding and the display is cool too.

i thought some pictures of the two funny car 69 Camaro bodies might help the discussion. First the AMT Funny Hugger: The AMT has huge rounded rear wheel well cutouts. The MPC Dick Harrell: The MPC is much more funny car specific with fiberglass like internal molding and an escape hatch.

Great detail shots of chassis under construction. Love it.

Lutz had a '57 Chevy that was street legal (actually 2) called the Evil Twin. He used it to win Drag Week 2014. Probably easier to build this as a model, due to the stock body. Need to create the tube chassis and turbo'd big block.

AMT 1934 Ford Truck Custom
mvadrag replied to mvadrag's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thank you for all the great comments. Oliver, the headers are from the 32 Sedan with a big chunk cut out and glued back together. This the the cab that started it all. Thanks for looking. -
These are great detail pictures! What a treasure trove. These kits have been around for a long time and it is outstanding that modelers want to get the details right on their builds.

Side by side by side Dragster builds...Kemp-Teresi-Sobak
mvadrag replied to ClayK's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Great work John. Your work on the shorty Garlits dragster is superb. Great detail. The tach and driver figure add to the overall look of this version of the car. I also like the older Garlits' builds with the back drops. I used one of your Dart 2 builds as inspiration to finish one for a friend who bought the resin body and didn't have the dragster parts to build it. -
This is such a great idea! Especially in 1/24 scale. The model looks super and the matching box art makes it cool!

Hey! I have this old kit, and recently dug it out of my closet for a re-do, just like you are doing. Mine seems to be a little rougher than yours. Good job on the paint and decals.

Nice clean work. Keep it up.

Snake45, I was that guy on "the other board", still haven't returned to finish it. Hence, this submittal...

Good idea for a thread. I can fill a page or two with my abandoned projects! There are a couple of Willys projects. One is a highboy and the other is a pro street van. Both were inspired by magazine articles.

Very nice work. Outstanding details. this should look great when complete (sorta already does).

I just found this thread last week and it has taken me a few times viewing to soak it all in. This is a great build! I love the subject and the fine craftsmanship on display. What a project!

The NHRA is not a fan of Street Outlaws.
mvadrag replied to NYLIBUD's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I went to a No Prep Kings event in Topeka where most of the Street Outlaws participated, including Monza (after the wreck?). I found it to be very entertaining, rooting for your favorite no-prep racer (I like Birdman) and listening to them going on and off the throttle to get down the track. The bad thing was the down time between rounds, not enough small tire and daily drivers to keep the racing going without long intermissions. Gives to time to buy a few of the thousands of T-shirts available!! -
I really like that body style Cadillac. You did a very nice job bringing out the smooth lines. I really like that side view. I may have to go out and buy a couple of these!!

I see that you have a few of these outlaw big tire projects in work in this forum. Where do you source your turbochargers?

Hey, I think I read that book back when I was in high school. Are you going to "bob" the fenders like the illustration? That would look pretty cool.

I sand down my slicks the exact same way! I also use a metric socket for a mandrel. I have followed this build from the beginning. I am impressed with the excellent detailing of each part, which is common in all of your builds. Keep up the good work.

that's a nice paint job.

Hey, I think getting one completed is an accomplishment. Not being happy with it is motivation to do better next time. By the way, I think it looks pretty good.

I found this thread about a year ago and could not believe the level of detail you created with machined brass and solder. Especially in 1/25 scale. Absolutely outstanding work. I think it will look great when finally finished, but the fun for me is in all the craftsmanship you have displayed for us.
