  1. The first 2 are a little 'unconventional,' but they fit the OP's request parameters - chopped, slammed, rusty, whatever(mostly the whatever) And my in-progress A is a little more traditional; here's an early mockup photo:
  2. I use popsicle sticks, otherwise known as 'craft sticks' at Michaels, for the basic material. For my weathering agent, I utilize a solution made from india ink and rubbing alcohol; that's a trick I picked up from my model railroading buddies. The truck in the foreground has the ink/alcohol stained wood: I also used a few of my weathered boards for the floor atop this deuce frame: I keep the ink mix in a 'reassigned' pickle jar, and the soaking vat is a topless Tupperware container. The soak time is usually between 10 and 20 minutes, and I let the pieces air dry on paper towels or newspaper overnight....although drying in the sun can help speed up that process. A small number of boards in each batch are re-dipped, and some are faded by dry sanding, to give the bunch some color variation - in real life, not every piece of wood ages at the same rate as others. My preferred method of application is dipping, but I have had good results from applying it with a dropper or thick brush.
  3. If it's for 1:1 car stuff, which you didn't specify, I've seen these guys mentioned on 'My Classic Car' a time or two: MR. G's RECHROMED PLASTIC
  4. That is one baaad barndoor, Darryl. Me likey!!
  5. I'm not sure what kit it's from, but I have one in my stash of various hot rod parts; it appears the spring was cut off, but the axle itself is in fine condition. Email me your address, James, and it's yours.
  6. As the brushed stainless outer skin of the real Delorean has a fair amount of shine to it, I'd probably recommend against that. If anyone here has a stainless sink in their kitchen, give it a good look. I was thinking a nice, non-metallic silver spray(like Tamiya AS-12 'bare metal silver') would make a good base for the stainless panels; some light sanding with 1000-2000 grit paper in long strokes from front to rear on the body, followed by clear might do the trick nicely. The nose and tail caps on the body might be better served with DullCote over a different silver, as the endura plastic on the real cars never could match the stainless parts.
  7. I realized I left Space Cowboy off the original list, and this was not our first(or last) trade....sorry about the oversight, Bruce.
  8. As soon as I snap a few more pics, I'll put together a "buggy flake" paint tutorial to share...and we all know how much a tutorial sucks without pictures, right?
  9. And how about "Mr. Angrier" - the latest rally-ready Charger from the same guy: MR. ANGRY INC.
  10. Seeing as you didn't volunteer the info, I have to ask: which kit does the 5-window work with, the Revellogram ZZ Top coupe or the AMT '34? If those are anything like the stuff Ed already offers, they're great!
  11. Good thing nobody told this fella that.
  12. Sounds like you're contradicting yourself.
  13. I agree - blue flake is a great dune buggy color (I might be a little biased, however) If you're into a real heavy flake for that buggy, I have a few tips to offer. Feel free to email me.
  14. I like that color a bunch, and the satin finish does ad a certain 'something' to it......could you use a satin clear to seal it?
  15. Surf music has become a favorite of mine over the past couple of years; Los Straitjackets and The Surfites are a couple of my most frequently listened. Jazz is one of my long-standing vices, so Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck and Thelonious Monk are often my building companions(I also had them figure prominently in the dinner music at my wedding). Most often I just pop a movie in the DVD player and listen to it as I build; my friend with the 'in progress' G gauge model railroad does the same thing when I work with him.
  16. Very cool overall, but that's also my favorite part. Those tall Citroen tires are cool too.
  17. I've owned 5 Mk2's, and I like what you do with them in scale...but you knew that already . Good to see you posting here, and that's one slick Golf!
  18. Just brainstorming here: Small-diameter solder or soft aluminum rod(NOT tubing) bent to shape first....then wrapped in wire, BMF then DullCote perhaps?
  19. I just unearthed an R&D Ford 9-inch rear end kit with coilovers....Spyder has a PM from me.
  20. Kip Addotta....classic.
  21. For a second choice, I'd say that color combo is beautiful!
  22. Shouldn't you post a poll before doing that?
  23. Brett - With this level of work, rest assured you have no need to feel intimidated here...or anywhere, for that matter. I really like the color you came up with. Nice job, mate!
  24. I always shoot the underside/inside first, to ensure that drip rails and window openings get good coverage. If items such as a headliner need to be a different color, I brush paint them later.
  25. Against the right backdrop, you could fool a lot of folks in a 'real or model' thread. I love it!!
