Yes, Tim and Art have long histories w the hobby. But it is absurd to label them ' saints' and put them beyond reproach. They are human and have made mistakes like any other reviewer or 'industry insider'.

Retro only works with a few models. For most cars, it's better to be modern and continue to evolve than go down the retro path.

Probably to some deranged individuals. Car names can span generations..some generations are mild facelifts, some are complete redesigns.

Of course, Chevy did bring back the Nova name for a while in the 80s on a Corolla based compact. Surprised they didn't use that name on later compacts...though the Cavalier and Cobalt were pretty bad, the Cruze seems like a decent little car.

That would be just the fogies, though...most new car buyers wouldn't make any connection like that. Like the Malibu of today...basic 4dr midsize, just as they were 40, 50 years ago at the core of the model (though they had more bodystyles and engine options back then). Or the Impala--4dr full size.

Yes, same with Novas..there were the SSes, but most were plain 6 cyl basic transportation.

It's a modern compact, just as the original ('63-76) was in it's day.

Yes, and the new one has a performance model or two..I think there is an SRT version coming. Not that there is anything wrong w/ the boring versions--vanilla is the biggest market niche--selling lots of vanilla enables companies to make the spicier models...(make mine Jalepeno Chocolate Peanut Butter).

True..the average age of the US model car builder today is...maybe 55? Not many young'uns my age and younger in the hobby...

I like the traction and ground clearance of an SUV...I think it would be too easy to get stuck w/ a Mustang, and the exposure to the salt...I kept my Mustang GT (and BMW M3 when I had it) garaged in the winter..

In the Chicago climate, I'd want an SUV. Save the sporty coupes for summer use...(that's what I did in Michigan and Colorado--SUV daily driver and the fun cars for nice weather).

Full size trucks and SUVs...I have a couple of friends that are that tall, that's what they drive...(one has an Expedition and F350, the other an Escalade)

looking at the pic, the Jeep looks like an old TJ like the Tomb Raider version, not the current model.

The 'why' is unknowable, Revell has their reasons..it may look like incompetence to us, but to them,, they have business reasons for their choices. As far as the accuracy, if the same people make the same poor decisions that resulted in recent poor efforts, then who knows.

Incompetence and a 'good enough' attitude is probably part of it as far as today goes...not sweating the details.

It seems like however they are measuring cars today isn't accurate enough...is Revell using tape measures and old men with poor eyesight? 'just measuring an object' isn't the whole story--there are complex contours and surface detailing to be accounted for--'measuring an object' doesn't account for poor efforts like the '67 Camaro grille. With new cars, they could in theory have access to the manufacturers' data and diagrams which you don't get with old cars. What's your explanation?

Back in the promo era, model car companies had access to the auto makers (access to design drawings, patterns, etc) that they don't have today? And JoHan was making models of new cars...not old ones. And it was local..none of the outsource to China nonsense we have today...

It was out about a week ago at RPP shops and should be generally available in the next week or so, the standard Revell release..

Weren't they essentially the same car other than the roofline and other sheetmetal and trim differences? The dirty bits didn't change much from '92-11...there were some suspension and chassis changes around '03 iIRC.

Lindberg already did the '95-97 in snap kit form. What is the point in duplicating what's already been done? I could see if it was a snap '98-11, that would make a lot of sense.
