  1. Yes..here's the one I took a pic of last year at the Coronado Festival of Speed...
  2. Ya, I was in and out of Target by 9:00 yesterday morning...esp. in the summer in AZ I try and get anything where I have to be outside done as early as possible..for me, Saturday afternoon is for naps and Sunday morning for watching racing (F1, Indy Car, and NASCAR today)...
  3. Though with licensing, the cost of producing a contemporary racing car subject may be higher? I do wonder how kit makers handle the licensing for each of those sponsors on the decal sheet. I do wonder what the # of modelers in the US is today and how that compares to the # 40 or 50 years ago, or the % of the population. And what is the average age? Seems the hobby skews towards an older demographic today and that many of those builders have been in it off and on for a long time.
  4. A big difference probably is that in the 70s (and the 80s to a lesser degree) a lot of kids up through high school age watched racing and built models...but from the 80s onward, I suspect that % has shrunk dramatically (blame video games, computers, the internet, whatever).
  5. Ya, had quite a bit of haboobery Thursday night...made a mess of my yard and pool. As far as Hobby Depot, it is sort of my LHS since it's only about 5 min from my office in Tempe, so I visit there 2-3 times a month usually. I like their $10 off punchcards.
  6. Yes..I have the same issue w/ the dogs..if they barf, it's on a rug or the sofa rather than the tile or hardwood.
  7. Getting a haboob blowing in tonite here...not the best way to start the holiday weekend...lots of dust, tree needles and leaves in my pool
  8. Very sharp, realistic work truck build..
  9. Nah, in my early '40s. As far as reruns, I don't watch a lot of tv and generally only watch shows that are current or recent...I can't really get into old shows from before my lifetime, esp. those in black & white. There are a few '60s shows I've seen that I like, though..Star Trek, The Prisoner, Danger Man, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits (and some of those are B&W).. As far what irked me today--the haboob that is hitting now...yuck..wind, dust, sand..
  10. Sweet...love those drag Mopies of that era. I saw this 1:1 at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale back in January..
  11. Dragnet was long before my time, but I did see the '80s movie version w/ Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks. Harry Morgan had a supporting role.
  12. Would be nice...I read Scale Auto, Automobile, Road & Track, Car & Driver and other magazines on my Kindle Fire tablet.
  13. I could see that putting the 'Special Edition' banner on the box would add a couple bucks to the price At least they didn't label it as a 'Streetburner'..
  14. Green lizard-- the Geico gecko---Geico is owned by Berkshire Hathaway..
  15. Cool...business must be good, the one near my office always seems busy...
  16. Sweet..got to have one to go w/ my other resin '57 base 4drs (Chevy 150 and Plymouth Savoy).
  17. Yeah, scripted survive against nature 'reality' shows seem to be all the rage for a while now. I guess the weather itself isn't dramatic enough for the Weather channel.
  18. Would be interesting..or how about cackling sound like a Top Fuel dragster. Or a Ferrari V10 F1 engine sound I've been walking through parking garages or lots before and have seen pure electrics (Teslas, Leafs) drive by, they are very very quiet on smooth pavement.
  19. No idea..I assume they haven't changed the testing.
  20. Looking great...love the color combination
  21. Yes..been there, done that..worked at several Fortune 50 companies as an employee and/or contractor and the amount of questionable stuff that goes on is not surprising..I've seen systemic incompetence and poor 'best practices'. Projects cancelled, people shuffled around, then the same projects restarted..then cancelled again in 6 months.. I like working as a consultant for a small consulting firm now and being able to do work for big companies without becoming part of their dysfunctional organizations..
  22. Sharp build... IIRC, this kit didn't include mirrors.
  23. News at 5!!! Kill Storm Derecho Danny coming through!!! Be on Alert!!! Augggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!
  24. Kind of like how 'haboob' is relatively new in use here in the desert SW...they used to just call them dust storms, I think...
  25. Or limit it just those with the ignition on the column. I don't think such an issue would affect cars that have the on-dash ignition (my favorite spot, like Benzes and Porsches), on the console like Saabs, or push button style as more and more automakers are using...
