What did you see on the road today?
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw a pale yellow late Jeepster (the kind w/ the full width egg crate grille) in clean shape at a local gas station this afternoon. Saw a 10 yr old or so (previous generation) white Dodge Ram pickup on the freeway--what was uncommon was the rust around the bottom of the door and rear wheel wells, and rusty rear bumper. Don't see them that way here, the Pennsylvania license plate may have had something to do w/ the rust.. -
A buck or two, here and there.

The LHS had a couple in stock, picked one up today...looks good at first glance. Stock wheel covers and steelies w/ tires w/ whitewall inserts, choice of stock rear bumper or continental kit bumper. Separate chrome windshield frame like the '55. Chassis X-brace is separate. Choice of single or dual carbs, uptop and boot. May have to get another, do one stock and one as a period street machine or custom.

Actually, October is slightly over 2 months away since this is late July. But October in Revell-speak means late October for the preferred shops, early November elsewhere, so call it 3 months minimum... -

I think my thermometer is inaccurate, it showed 126 a few minutes later. At least my A/C is cold. -

119 degrees on the thermometer...was a bit optimistic, think it was only 116 today. -

Hopefully the Revell S&H Torino will look better than this Lego one.. -

It was a wierd niche trend in the late '70s and early 80s, making strange baroque redos of the '75-79 Seville (and a few of the '80-85 models). I wonder how it started. I've also seen a '77-79 Coupe de Ville made into a convertible in Florida, saw it probably 30 years ago. Someone around here has an '00-05 DTS that has been made into a 4dr convertible, looks pretty well finished. -

Yes, that's the kind I've seen...there was also one done that was quite tasteful called the San Remo...but again, those are all '70s cars.. -

I've seen shortened/reconfigured '75-79 Sevilles--made into 2dr coupes and roadsters, but nothing newer than that... -

I believe that is what it is...the Petty Charger w/ different decals? Or backdated to a '71? Thought I saw it mentioned here or one of the other modeling forums. -
Revell 2014 Corvette Stingray

It was pretty bad, but getting the model year and generation of a subject wrong --especially a well known TV/movie vehicle--would be even worse than that. I just hope that they get the '74-76 Torino body done accurately. -

I don't think Revell is quite that incompetent...I would hope even they realize that the S&H is a different car. -

Interesting..not familiar with that kit...maybe a RoG rebox of one that Aoshima or Fujimi did? -

I assume the '55 Ford panel truck is just a straight reissue..as for the VW Rabbit, that is likely a rebox of the upcoming Revell of Germany new tool Mk I Golf. (Don't recall a Revell or Monogram Rabbit previously, though they have reboxed the RoG Mark II Golf in the past). -
Consumer Reports ranked McDonald's Hamburgers as the worst. Their #1 is Habit Burger Grill, which has been my favorite for a while...I also like In N Out, their #2. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/business/wp/2014/07/02/consumer-reports-mcdonalds-burger-ranked-worst-in-the-u-s

Maybe they plan to mold the wheels and tires as one piece... or leave out the interior and mold the windows black, like the old 'Snapfast Slammers' kits. -

I wonder what this one is... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXERLY&P=7 Judging by the low price, it's a snap kit. Maybe one of the new Police Interceptors? -

Well, a '74-76 Gran Torino has never been kitted before, and the movie tie-in will get some sales. Looking forward to it if it's well done, better than another predictable Model A, '32 Ford, or Tri-5 Chevy variation, IMO... -
