  1. Cost, I'm sure..same reason Cadillac has the XTS which is in on a platform shared w/ the Impala and LaCrosse. (though they are developing a RWD flagship). Exclusivity in platforms, drivetrains, etc is expensive...
  2. Yes..I remember 10 years ago or so they had a concept car that had a modern spin on the razor sharp '60s Continental styling...I liked that...
  3. The MKS is a decent car, but rather dull and blandly styled. Lincoln seems to be all in w/ the Olds tribute grilles, but their current styling doesn't seem to be working...
  4. The current MKS is on the Taurus platform, it's not doing well. The problem is, other than the Mustang, Ford doesn't have a RWD car platform (the Aussie Falcon is on it's way out)...unless they use it or develop something new, it's going to be hard to have a world class flagship...FWD doesn't cut it if they want to take on the big league brands (BMW, M-B, and Lexus all have RWD flagship sedans, and Cadillac is developing one).
  5. Brookfield made a diecast bank around 1/25th of one from around 1992 or so. Don't think there was ever one in styrene.
  6. Bottom line, reality is complex. Things cost what they cost. Why, we don't necessarily know. That's just the way it is.
  7. http://www.acmediecast.com/
  8. never heard of ACME.
  9. Neat...I think that kit was only issued once. I've got one in my stash to build eventually, molded in orange IIRC.
  10. Yeah..but that's the nature of the internet...threads go on and on, sometimes devolving into drivel.
  11. Interesting...so GMP is merging w/ Greenlight or vice versa? I have some GMP racing cars, they are very nice...and Greenlight 1/64th diecast are excellent--got a ton of those.
  12. Wasn't that an issue w/ Mopar products 40 years ago???? Don't think that is an issue w/ modern cars..
  13. Yea, those big Fords were in so many '70s TV shows and movies...they stuck in my head from watching those shows and movies as a kid...
  14. Yeah, but that seems to be a class of appliance the public loves...supposedly Cadillac will be getting a compact or subcompact CUV soon also.
  15. Sounds like a scam. I've never run out of gas in over 25 years of driving, never the tank go below 1/4.
  16. I've had GM, Ford, Chrysler, BMW and Mercedes.. so far my first GM car (Cadillac STS) has been very reliable, had it almost 3 years now.
  17. Or get a good electric razor.. There is always Duck Dynasty and the Taliban..those guys rock some wicked beards..
  18. Yes...20 million recalled so far..15.6 million cars sold in the US last year.
  19. I'm glad they didn't take the approach of not recalling anything from before the bankruptcy--by saying that those vehicles are the responsibility of the old GM (the one that went bankrupt--General Motors Corporation), since technically, post-bankruptcy GM is a different corporate entity---General Motors Company. Imagine the outrage and bad publicity if they had gone down that path.
  20. On my Jeep I think I've had 6 flats and one blow-out in 14 years, mostly from picking up nails and screws (something about the deep tread pattern of mud/snow SUV tires picks them up). My Mustang has had one flat (ripped open the sidewall on a jagged pothole) in 27 years. No flats with other cars I've had (knock on wood).
  21. True enough... I've had AAA change a tire, but they used my full size spare.
  22. My sister's '00 DTS is in today's recall.. I don't think my '11 STS will be recalled for this issue, since it has push button start.
  23. One set of wheels has 7 spokes, the 1:1 has 8, is what I read..in one of the threads here a while back..
  24. To get attention? So far, the known flaws AFAIK are the # of wheel spokes on one set of wheels, the exhaust, the engine decals for the fenders, the open backs of the door pockets, the blockiness of the seats, the fiddly fit of the tires, the fit of the side glass relative to the interior panels, and the fit of the grille. All pretty trivial, nothing of the scale of the flaws of a certain recent Revell new tool. I haven't built mine yet, but looking over the tooling the critical stuff (shape of the body, detailing of various parts, etc) looks excellent to me.
  25. Dunkin is good..alas, the one closest to home doesn't have a drive thru, so I don't go there often. But I do get a craving for their donuts once in a while.
