  1. For a modern Ford engine, I'd go with the Coyote 5.0 from the '12 Revell Boss 302 kit, or the 5.4 from the '10 Revell Shelby kit...
  2. Yes, I got mine yesterday--was amazed to see the July issue in June--I'm used to the issue being a month or two behind.
  3. True that... I can do without the 100+ temps and desert landscaping though (I like lush green lawns). I will be spending more time in Vegas, though...my company has an office off Fremont St now, so I'll probably be working out of there occasionally as we get more clients in LV...
  4. The crazy thing about September is as it cools off I actually feel chilly getting out of the pool when the air temp is 'only' 102.. one thing I've noticed since I moved here is fewer summer monsoon storms...several big storms in the summer of '08 and very little in more recent summers.
  5. I lived in Florida when I was younger...I think I can handle colder weather and humidity better than extreme heat.
  6. Make that 5 months...May through September. I've been here six years, haven't 'acclimated'. I knew about the summers here....moving here wasn't about the climate (was more of a family thing). .at least beaches are just a short flight away or 6 hr drive...
  7. Yeah, it's pretty disgusting..moving here was a mistake, but that's a long story.. should have stayed in Colorado.
  8. I'd like to have some of that rain here...sunny, dry, dusty and triple digit temps week after week...
  9. Yes, worlds apart..21st century and 19th... There are some options I wouldn't want, though..I definitely don't want a self driving car....I don't need artificial engine sounds..I don't think I'd like some of the newer electric power steering systems either--too artificial.
  10. There was a thread about the two versions of this kit w/ pictures started last year... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=80991&hl=%2Bopel+%2Badmiral
  11. Hmmm...I think I saw one on eBay recently, don't recall the caster though.
  12. It's a very sharp build..I saw pics of it a couple of months ago on another forum..impressive work, especially considering how simplified the kit is...shows the potential of it.
  13. I have the MPC originals in my to-restore stash...both were bought as builtups, the ht in decent shape but the convertible an incomplete glue bomb..I've bought a bunch of Modelhaus parts and some parts from a spare AMT '67 to restore the convertible..
  14. I read it probably 30 years ago, about the same time I read John Z Delorean's book...interesting read IIRC.
  15. MCW and the Modelhaus make resin repros of the MPC annual, the Modelhaus one has chromed bumpers.
  16. wowza..that is gorgeous.
  17. Hmmm...I can see no power brakes (but even drag cars need to stop), but no alternator? How does an engine run without one?
  18. Two of my sister's cars currently have the A/C out...fun driving them around in this weather...
  19. Nothing wrong with that..I like loaded cars....
  20. No--closing vents doesn't change the temperature. With dual zone, the air coming out is two different temperatures.. it does work. As far as stuff breaking, that's often at high mileage when out of warranty, best to have traded before then... In a place where the air is dusty and foul like here, cabin filters make a difference, IMO.
  21. A lot of these features are in the category of options..nothing wrong w/ providing lots of options...dual zone climate control is an old option..been around at least 15 years. It seems to work, driver and passenger sides can be some degrees different without closing the vents... The availability of what you label 'gadgets' is nothing new, cars have long offered a variety of options..over time, many options become standard. No one (or only a few luddites) wants a car today equipped the way a typical car was 50 years ago (vinyl interior, am radio, no a/c, manual everything).
  22. Such it is..it would be pretty dull if cars stopped evolving and improving and stayed stuck in one period of time..
  23. I've read nothing good about CVTs. Now something like BMW's dual clutch sequential manual gearbox (SMG) I'd try...
  24. Looks like a sweet kit..may have to get one to go w/ my other Aoshima Lambos...wonder when they will tool up the Huracan...
