  1. It seems a lot of people in this hobby are stuck in the past, be it the 50s, 60s, or 70s..
  2. It's an acquired taste, I'm sure..I've been drinking Starbucks for 20 years, never the plain coffee, though..I like their Cinnamon Dolce Latte, White Chocolate Mocha, Chai or whatever seasonal speciality they have... for plain old coffee, McDs is good.
  3. I remember those...I used those w/ my first couple cars which didn't have cupholders..still have one in my '87 Mustang GT IIRC...
  4. V6 approx 300hp 4cyl approx 305hp V8 approx 420hp
  5. Nah, $4.75 I think for a venti latte.. 3-4 times a week at most. I have 3 Starbucks within a mile or so of home, incl. 2 with drive thrus..pretty convenient, though I also get coffee from other coffee shops and make it at home and at the office (we have a fancy Italian machine at the office w/ all the bells and whistles, makes very good coffee).
  6. In Arizona, never leave home without a bottle of water or two...the dry heat will get you. Not sure about styrofoam, don't think that is what Starbucks uses in their coffee cups. I do have metal coffee mugs, I used to make it at home and carry a cup w/ me when my commute was longer.
  7. I get along fine now w/ ordinary cupholders, but heated and cooled ones would definitely be nice--keep the coffee warm in winter and water cool in summer. They are are nice-to-have option, like heated and cooled seats. Saabs used to have cooled glove boxes, IIRC. As far as the GPS, I do check Google maps when going someplace unfamiliar, but I do drive w/o using the NAV most of the time. I never leave home w/o a smartphone, and usually have a tablet and laptop close by..
  8. I'm sure there is vast improvement in today's 4 cyl engines over the past ones..though I do wonder how it does on NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). The only 4 cyl cars I've owned were '80s Fords--a diesel Escort and a Mustang LX (which was a real turd w/ 86 hp and a 1bbl carby). I've had a mix of straight 6, V6 and V8 cars and SUVs over the last 25 years, can't see myself going back to a 4cyl, seems like a downgrade.
  9. Issues that widespread point to systemic, multilevel incompetence and poor quality control. Though I do wish the best for GM, I've been happy w/ my Cadillac experiences so far and would buy another.
  10. Note that the Ecoboost in the Mustang is the 4cyl turbo. As far as the Ecoboost V6, it is interesting to see that it will be the only engine in the '15 Expedition and Navigator--no more V8 for the hefty full size SUVs.
  11. Agreed about multiple sources.. I don't really watch TV news anymore--used to watch CNN pretty regularly but it is pretty tabloidish nowdays, IMO. So I go to the internet--since I prefer to read the news more than watching videos and talking heads--- mostly the New York Times, NBC/MSNBC for US news, BBC for international news and motorsport.
  12. There is the Onion, 'Americas Finest News Source' and their ONN--Onion News Network..some pretty funny stuff. Sometimes their fake news is as plausible as the real news. http://www.theonion.com/channels/ifc/
  13. I saw a couple of them back in January at Barrett-Jackson--Ford had a '15 GT coupe and convertible on display..looking forward to seeing them out on the road..they look better in person than in photos, IMO.
  14. Some cars now have heated, chilled and lighted cupholders...and to think, just 20 years ago, some cars didn't even have cupholders. I am surprised it took so long for cars to have cupholders standard, since drive thrus have been around a long time...I couldn't imagine not having cupholders, as I always have a bottle of water and/or a mug or cup of coffee w/ me..
  15. Sharp build..love the wheels
  16. It does..the Ecoboost model..it will be sold in Europe. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2015-ford-mustang-23l-ecoboost-first-ride-review
  17. I like the large sliding metal sunroofs I've had on older M-Bs and BMWs...the glass sunroof on my Caddy is nice, though the opening is a bit small.. I've had several convertibles as rentals over the years, wouldn't mind having one at some point, a sunroof is more practical for a daily driver car, IMO.
  18. I was looking at the online configurator for the new Mustang today...some interesting options, some odd omissions, though..no sunroof? I don't get why Ford hasn't offered a sunroof option since the Fox era..a well equipped GT is in the upper 30s.
  19. As far as the recent GM ignition switch issue, I'm amazed something like this would happen, considering they have used column switch ignitions for 45 years now..sounds like it's a case of cost cutting gone wrong and a subsequent cover up. I'm not a fan of column ignitions, other brands have done just fine w/ the ignition on the dash and a locking steering column.
  20. yes, the Ford cruise control fire issue has been around 10 years or so, several tv programs and articles on it over the years...here's one--http://jalopnik.com/5381540/cruise-control-fire-recall-expanded-to-fords-largest-ever
  21. 5th wheel travel trailers must have been uncommon in the '70s and before...I know in the '80s I saw a lot of duallie pickups towing them. I've seen a couple '73-79 Ford duallies in 1:1, and they had add-on fender extensions like the Dodge duallies had back then.
  22. I know, I'm from the Midwest......sometimes I think I'd rather have that climate than what I'm stuck with now....I can handle cold better than extreme heat..I think I belong more in a maritime climate, though.
  23. I like the old BMWs...miss my '96 M3, was a lot of fun, straight 6, simple and great on twisty mountain roads...no iDrive or other nonsense...
  24. Nice..wish I was there.. here in opposite world our 'winter' is kicking in... 4 more months of triple digit horror..
  25. That kit looks like it would be a good starting point to build a Ken Block car...
