  1. I think we knew that months ago when it was announced at the auto show, though...it's pretty clear from the box art also, very cheesy and kid-oriented. This is a subject that deserves a serious adult version, hope it happens....
  2. Looks like the body is pretty accurate...looks good painted...hopefully they will do a full detail (or at least a more complete snapper w/ headlight detail. mirrors and chassis detail).
  3. Seriously? Computer Generated Imagery...if you've seen most any blockbuster movie of the last 35 years or so, you've seen CGI...
  4. It's going to be interesting to see...looks like it's a reboot, with Tom Hardy in the Max role. He was good in "The Dark Knight Rises", "Locke" and "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy"....
  5. Don't know, but it's obvious by the box art--the only one w/ the older style AMT/ertl box art and in red--IIRC, this kit had only 1 issue. The later tooling kit has been out in green and orange on the box..
  6. I'd love to see this car kitted...would be nice for Revell..yet they are doing a '13 instead, inexplicably.
  7. And others have said that the kids like the older subjects and need to be exposed to them, but I can't see that being a viable business model--- maybe a small subset of young people are into the past, but I can't see young people en masse being interested in model subjects (or 1:1 cars) from their grandparents era. I know there are far fewer adult and child 'car guys' today (interest in cars in general pretty much goes hand in hand w/ interest in model cars) than when I was a kid in the '80s, but I would think the majority of younger people that are into cars would be more interested in modern cars and modern subjects rather than obscure subjects from the distant past.
  8. Good to know..wasn't sure of the origin of that kit. I have a bunch of the '70s-era tooling AMT and MPC Camaros, never noticed much difference in them as far as the tooling.
  9. Found this pic whilst googling...a '68 Chevy pickup w/ a radial engine. Radical!
  10. For '70s style duallie wheels, the Modelhaus wheel & tire sets should work...they are based on the '90s AMT Chevy duallie wheels. T-800, bottom left.
  11. Don't know if it's a photoshop or for real, but that's an '05-14 w/ the front and rear reworked to look like a '69..
  12. Nope...Corgi made diecast Kojak cars, but there were no models of them.
  13. A 2dr Ranch Wagon and a Ranchero would be neat to see in resin conversions....
  14. Hmmm...I think this may be about radial aircraft engines. I also only buy radial tires, as bias-ply is from before my time.
  15. Saw a dark metalflake gray Fisker Karma this morning at Starbucks. It's too bad the company failed, beautiful car IMO... Also discovered they are putting in a new Dunkin Donuts across the street from one of my local Starbucks...woo hoo!!... means I'll have 4 different coffee shops/breakfast spots (and 1/2 dozen more restaurants) at one intersection less than a mile from home.
  16. I've seens the 4dr (shared a platform with a Mitsubishi model) and sports car version in Europe..they were very short lived, only out 2-3 years each. The sports car version is very tiny.
  17. You could always mute the phone, the pedometer app should still work with ringer muted.

  19. I had a couple night time power outages during the monsoons of '08..one that was 3-4 hrs and the other about 6-7 hours..was tough sleeping, but I wouldn't leave the dogs in the house to go to a hotel..problem w/ my old neighborhood is that the power lines are above ground and heavy wind and storms blow branches into them, take out a line..
  20. I remember as a kid hearing my older brother explain the origin of that name..he also called them 'gut bombs'.. The bar my company frequents for happy hour in Tempe has beef, chicken, and pulled pork ones..we usually order a few rounds, they go down well w/ a pint or two of brew...
  21. It's such a fun word to say, though...
  22. No rain here today so far...there was a light sprinkle last night when I was in the pool then the haboob warning, but no haboobery here in my area. Weather forecast for the next week is chance of thunderstorms everyday...but at least it's been 'cool' lately (only low 100s and not 110s..)..such is monsoon season..
  23. Wow..that's a thought. I do turn off the ringer on my cells occasionally when I don't want to be bothered. When I'm working, my coworkers might call me on the phone but are more likely to ping me on HipChat (corporate chat software) first...but clients often call me directly on my work cell instead of emailing or opening a ticket. I occasionally get spam calls on my cells--I ignore any call that doesn't have caller id or from an area code I don't recognize.
  24. There is a version of the Miata available w/ a folding hardtop also, but the Miata may be too small for me...they handle great, though.
