  1. I've got one that I built. I need to replace the rear view mirror. It fell off somewhere. I also need to repaint the front air dam. The paint on it wasn't good and I had to strip it. The whole thing needs a good cleaning now. I like the two that Marc did. Very nice. Later-
  2. I'll say it again, I like that color. You did a fantastic job spraying that. Keep it up. Later-
  3. Nice job on the details so far. I really like the green color too. To answer the question (if it was asked)-The old Pro Street version of this kit had two dashes also. Later-
  4. Erik- That engine is a wonderful piece of work. It's great to see the work you do step by step. Makes it look possible to do just by thinking of each part in its basic shapes. Keep it up. Later-
  5. That looks cool. I, too, would love to see it finished. Where did you get the gold line tires? I'd like to get a set or two. Later-
  6. Thanks guys for the comments. Zuki- Yeah, that's what I was thinking last night while looking at it. I think if I put the front shackle just ahead of the K member it will work out. Unfortunately I only had three PE shackles last night instead of four. I guess I'll have to fab up something else for shackles. Maybe some from some aluminum can. Got busy with other things today so I didn't get to it. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the rest of the painting done. Still fighting the weather here. It wants to rain off and on every day. It's getting frustrating. Later-
  7. Rodney- Beautifully smooth paint. I'm with you. I like the Tamiya quality, but not the price. I painted a 2006 Mustang that Mica Blue. It was fantastic. Went on smooth and shiny. Unfortunately, sometime after my move down to WA from Alaska, while the body was sitting in my new unventilated model area, the body warped like nothing I've ever seen before. My wife said that it looked like a teenager had stole his parents car and hit a telephone pole. I still cry a bit when I think about it.--excuse me The Samurai looks good. Later-
  8. Rodney- That is looking good. I love those times when you've got nothing to have to do but build. It's like being young again. No responsibilities. Those times are few and far between now. Keep it up. Later-
  9. Last night I also got a little of the suspension ironed out. I glued on some PE brackets for the traction bars and started gluing on some resin bolt heads that I got from Ma's resin a whle back. Thanks Alan. The ladder bars are scratch-built to resemble the ones from the car(as far as I could tell). It doesn't look like much yet. Once it's all painted I think it will look like the picture. I'm still ironing out the location of the front axle and PE brackets. I'm trying to make sure I get the axle centered but out of the way of the K member. Can anyone tell me from the last photo if I got the steering box located correctly? There isn't an exact mounting point. The shaft seems to be too low but it doesn't seem to fit any higher. Next is probably to paint the chassis parts and perhaps start on the interior. Any comments or critiques welcomed. Later-
  10. I finally got some time to sit at the bench unhindered last night. After a long search I received some deep Cragars from Plowboy this week and had to do quite a bit of sanding down the rims and hogging out the tires to get them to fit. I wish I could have gotten the tires hogged out a bit better, but I think they'll look alright once they're painted. If not I'll try some repairs. I BMF'ed the emblems before primer so that I can use the ol' Qtip in thinner once the paint is dry. I got the first few coats of paint on. Paint is Testors Lacquer MM Dark Bronze Metallic. I painted the body, dash, radiator support, grille support (piece under grille) and hood striker plate. I filled the hood cut out hole with putty and primed it, but still had some ghosting, so I had to hold off painting the hood. Should get to it and the tops of the interior door panels today. More in the next post. Later-
  11. Didn't the AMT 68 El Camino kit have an air intake box (sat on top of the carbs) that was molded to look like a rectangular aluminum box similar to what some of the Trans/Am racers had? Does anyone have any photos, and or measurements of the this part? I know that this is pretty vague, but maybe someone knows what I'm looking for. Later-
  12. Hizoot- Those are nicely done. I really like that Black Force. Later-
  13. 42 of 48. I'd love to have that 55 Coronet and 55 Desoto. Later-
  14. The wheels from the Super Coupe have AMT printed repeatedly as the tread. They hit the parts box ASAP! Nothing like screaming TOY!!! Later-
  15. I built the one called Super Coupe. Nice, little, easy build. Wheels and tires from the Testors Coupster. Painted gloss black with a Duplicolor Prisma paint for the sparkles. Parts box taillights. I wouldn't mind getting another one of these and one or two of the Ramblurs. Later-
  16. Diymirage- What build did you have? Let's see some photos of your progress. Keep working on it. I'm on my way out to the hobbyroom to work on mine now. Later-
  17. Here in the Spokane area the best place to buy kits is a place called The White Elephant. They have two locations and are much cheaper than anywhere else around here. They have a great selection and each store carries a little different variety. They had the Testors One Coat Lacquer paints earlier this winter for $2.99!! Later-
  18. Some of the more expensive, soft dog and cat food (Fancy Feast for example)come in handy little plastic containers with snap on lids. Later-
  19. Juergen- This build is looking great. Good to see that you're back on it. Did you make the wide rear Cragar wheels or were those like that? I've been having trouble finding some deep Cragars like that and I know that you make a lot of your own parts. Keep it up. Later-
  20. Hey Deck- I'm loving this. It gives me some ideas for a Toyota MR2 body that I have. Maybe combining it with a Ferrari, since I only have the body. Got a link to your Mustang? I haven't seen it in a while and would like to see your progress on it. Later-
  21. Yeah, Kevin, I wanted to say congrats on your Caddy in the 2010 Contest issue. Beautiful black and red paint. Ain't nuttin' lackin' when you're Cadillacn'! Later-

    new build

Ron- Nice little build. Good job on it. I loved this kit when I built it years ago. I should find me another. And yes, sanding the tire tread would help make it more realistic. Keep it up. Later-
  23. Man, you've got some creative ideas and I'm sure they are nice, but you've got to get some larger photos so we can see the detail. I'm dying to see these a little better. Later-
  24. Yeah, only one photo and it's TINY! Great looking build from what I can see. I like the color and 67's are my favorite year of Vettes. Let's see some more of it. Later-
  25. I agree with Ken on the wheels. Looking great so far and that Cinnamon color will be killer. What are you using for reference material on the paint detailing and build? Later-
