Juergen- This build is looking great. Good to see that you're back on it. Did you make the wide rear Cragar wheels or were those like that? I've been having trouble finding some deep Cragars like that and I know that you make a lot of your own parts. Keep it up. Later-

Hey Deck- I'm loving this. It gives me some ideas for a Toyota MR2 body that I have. Maybe combining it with a Ferrari, since I only have the body. Got a link to your Mustang? I haven't seen it in a while and would like to see your progress on it. Later-

Yeah, Kevin, I wanted to say congrats on your Caddy in the 2010 Contest issue. Beautiful black and red paint. Ain't nuttin' lackin' when you're Cadillacn'! Later-

Ron- Nice little build. Good job on it. I loved this kit when I built it years ago. I should find me another. And yes, sanding the tire tread would help make it more realistic. Keep it up. Later-

Man, you've got some creative ideas and I'm sure they are nice, but you've got to get some larger photos so we can see the detail. I'm dying to see these a little better. Later-

Yeah, only one photo and it's TINY! Great looking build from what I can see. I like the color and 67's are my favorite year of Vettes. Let's see some more of it. Later-

I agree with Ken on the wheels. Looking great so far and that Cinnamon color will be killer. What are you using for reference material on the paint detailing and build? Later-

got mine a couple of days ago....for FREE! (still like to find out who got the sub for me) What a beautiful issue. Lots of great ideas. I like the paint on the pink bug on #37 and the couple of Ted Lear's cars on #27 and #58 and those scratch-built masterpieces on # 64 and the many other excellent builds. Great job guys! Nice work on another mag MCM staff! Later-

Yeah, Mikelo, Let's keep going. I'd like to see what progress you've made on yours. Later-

Those are both nice looking tuners and I like the interior of the Skyline. Good work. Later-

Congratulations to all the guys for completing your builds and winning! Personally, I feel like a lump for not finishing mine, but I do intend to complete it and post it here. Keep watching. Later-

what to use for underhood detailing?
Modlbldr replied to jhuntsman's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Old electronic gadgets from the thrift stores. Old speakers (also good for metal screen, using the speaker cover), telephones, etc. Anything that came with wires or hoses I tear apart. Sometimes I get left over wiring from construction job sites, too. Later- -
Nice paint job on this one. But, from you, that's to be expected. Later-

I also spent some time tonight working on the seat belts, although I didn't take any photos of them. I had a problem with some red plastic that I'd used to attach the whale tail to the engine boot. It kept wanting to bleed through my white primer so I shot a light coat of silver on it. Hopefully when I put my next coat of primer on it won't show. Although I am not going to finish in time for the contest, I am still enjoying this build and plan to stick on it until it's done. I hope everyone else had fun and I look forward to seeing the builds. Later-

Well, I won't finish in time but I thought that I'd post tonight's work on my Beetle. I spent a few hours bending and re-bending solder for my exhaust. Here is where I'm at with it. I still need to add the P.E. header flanges, collector and the stinger pipe. Once I start all of that on my next session I'll do the fine tuning to get a bit more ground clearance for the exhaust. It won't be much due to the low ride height and the exhaust having to clear the bumper. The bumper will be able to be raised a bit , but not much without interfering with the engine boot. I also have some paint overspray to clean up on the engine. More in next post. Later-

Beautiful color. What is it called? As stated before, you did a great job removing the vinyl top. Later-

That's a beautiful pair. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this. Keep the photos coming. I didn't notice it at first but those headlights are huge! Later- -
That's cute. I had ONE (notice, ONE) of their paint jobs years ago when I was young and broke. Not much has changed, except that I'm older. I used the paint thinner and a rag earlier today and it worked beautifully. Now, I'll go out to the hobby dungeon and they'll be a sopping puddle of goo on my desk. Just kidding. They're fine. Now if I can get the rest of tonight's work done without one step forward and two steps back..... Later-

For it being your first one back it looks like a winner. I've got a few projects that I started 20 yrs ago (and some 15 yrs ago) and they aren't even that far along. My Dad bought a 78 F250 Supercab Camper Special in 78. It was the Cinnamon and tan two tone. What a beautiful truck. Funny thing is, his fought him the entire time he owned it too. Can't wait to see more progress. Later-

Thanks guys. I'll try those out. Just wasn't sure if thinner would hurt them or not. Later-

I got a bit of paint overspray on my tires and need to remove it. What's the best way without damaging the tires? The tires are Pegasus and the paint is either Tamiya rattlecan or Testors rattlecan Boyds Pacific blue. Not sure which cause they're pretty close to the same color. Thanks for your help. Later-

What do you use for exhaust pipes, handlebars, etc.
Modlbldr replied to bigmikevee's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I agree with Mike. Thanks for all of the help. I've used solder to make headers before and I really liked it. I've just never painted or polished it. I'll have to try some of that armature wire too. Thanks again. Later-
