Dragon- So far your work is looking good to me. Pretty adventurous work. I still hate doing opening doors on a model, and I've been building for years. I only have one suggestion. You may want to see about getting a higher quality of putty. That green stuff tends to shrink as it dries, and it takes a looooonnngggg time to dry fully. You will probably end up with sink marks in your model in the next few months due to it. It is a great way to ruin a beautiful build. Ask me how I know!! If you can afford it I'd go to a automotive store (Napa, or the like) and buy some Evercoat (I think it was glazing putty). I think last time I bought some it was around $16- $18 but comes in a large container. I'm sure other guys here can give you some other ideas of good quality putty. Fortunately for me I build so slowly and usually have a few projects that I rotate through that any shrinkage is caught before I hit the paint stage. LOL! Later- Later-

53' ford flipnose

Eelco- I think that you might be wrong about the wheels. Back in the late 80's- early 90's when this style of truck (roadster top) was hot those wheels would have fit the style just perfect. Especially painted white or a pastel color. Nice job so far Madman. don't forget that the seats should have headrests that stick above the top of the doors. And some paint splash graphics. Later- -
Resin 49 or 50 Ford car grille
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
A little bit. The first one I tried I foolishly removed the straight bar at the very bottom first and once i cut out the bullet I had two halves. It was too dificult to line the two halves up because the bars are not the same thickness as they curve up to the center. Once i realized I needed to leave the bottom there to hold it together then it was difficult to cut the bullet out without breaking the bottom bar. Later- -

I'll second that! Later- -
I am unaware of how the Fujimi or Aoshima kits are so I won't make any comments either way on them. So far this kit looks to be very well designed, fit wise. I haven't gotten into putting much more than some of the sub assemblies (engine block pieces, front suspension, etc) together or test fitting things. I glued the custom front end on and had test fitted the chassis in before reading the instructions. Then I realized that the headlight buckets were supposed to go on first (requiring taping them off before painting or painting the front end separate from the body). Having thought that I would need to do some major mods to get them in, I was happy to see that they will slide into place just fine from underneath. Whew!!! Dodged that bullet. Hopefully the rear taillight panel will be as easy. I am still contemplating cutting the roof out in a T-top style. I have opened up the screened areas in the front end. I need to remove mold lines from the body and then I can primer. I have some custom wheels from the parts box that I am putting on mine. I just need to get one more aluminum ring for the front wheel from my buddy this week. I'm really excited about the wheel combo I came up with. I really appreciate everyone's input on this kit. I really like the silver one with red seat inserts. And I like the custom wing on that white one also. Where did it come from? Later-

resin hudson part deux,,er..4?
Modlbldr replied to jeffb's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
How much is one? This is funny. I just had a friend of mine give me her late husband's '53 4-Door. Sure wish I had the money to do something with it. I had to turn her down. Better to clutter up her yard than my 10 acres. It was the only Hudson he kept before he passed away. I asked her the other day when was visiting what she was going to do with it. She told me "take it, if you want it. I want it gone." I would like to do a model of it for her. Later- -
Resin 49 or 50 Ford car grille
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks David. I did a little more touching up on it yesterday and it looks better. The underside of the top bar was not straight on the driver's side. I think I have it fixed now. Just a quick shot of primer and it is off to my buddy's for Alclad. Later- -
Resin 49 or 50 Ford car grille

Here's the point that I'm at now. I realize that this is'nt the right place to post this so I'll make these the last photos. I'm just proud of the results so far and have to show it off. LOL! I still have a bit of touching up to do and then I'll take it to my buddy to Alclad it for me. I do appreciate the info on Modelhaus. I have a JF resin 49 body and two older 49 kits and a 50 convertible that I only have one grille left for. I'll need a few. Later- -
Yes, that's them. Z series. I think that they are sharper and, so far, they stay sharper longer. As a matter of fact, the one I have chucked up is still the first one. I also used it today to cut contact paper to put on my cupboard shelves under the sink and I am still using it tonight to cut parts from the sprue, with ease. I don't know how much more expensive they are than regular though. Later-

Simply beautiful Gerald. Great photos and very nice work on the roof conversion. I am building a similar 50 but I extended and molded on the roof from a 49 Coupe. Mine is going to be a mild custom. Thanks for the photo advice too. Later-

Nice jobs guys. That's the same front end I'm using Patrick. I like the conversion work you did Gerald. So how well did the kit parts go together? Looks like it should be a painless kit, to me. Thanks again for sharing. I'm thinking of doing a sort of T-top on mine for something a little different. Later-

Wow! Nice cars all of them. Niko, I really like yours. Very well weathered. Later-

I was just putting the body panels on a Revell Acura RSX Type S kit and only remember one being built on this forum. Has anyone else built this kit? Looks like a nice little kit. How well did it go together? It has so many optional parts- 3 front and 3 rear clips. Just wondering what anyone else's looked like. So.....post 'em if you have 'em. I will say that trying to get this puzzle to fit back in the box so I can close it is a bear! Too many parts!!!! Later-

Resin 49 or 50 Ford car grille
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Well, after several tries at making my own grille I may have it. Check it out so far. And with the left over bullet I have a custom speedo for my dash. I guess it never hurts to keep trying to overcome failure....unless your talking skydiving. Later- -
A buddy gave me a pack of new blades that X-Acto makes. They are just like #11's but the cutting edge has a gold tint to them. I can't remember the name (X-Acto Platinum or something). These blades stay sharper longer. I've had the same blade in now for about two weeks and it is still as sharp as day one. I think they're great, FWIW. I'm not sure if they are any more expensive than normal # 11's since they were given to my buddy and he gave me a pack. Try them out and see what you think. Later-

I'm sitting here trying to remove the center bullet from the 50 Ford convertible grille. I've gone through three in the last week. Does anyone make a resin grille for the 49 or 50 Ford car that doesn't have a center bullet? Any help? Later-

Wow! bbowser, that thing looks like it should have fridge magnets stuck all over it. LOL! Looks great in white. Car-man- great fade paint job. what colors are those? Later-

That is a beautiful save. I like the wheels on it. Not your average, but they look good on it. Great job. Later-

Simon- What a nice job on the details of this kit. That paint is as shinny as can be. Great job! BTW- It's nice to see that I'm not the ONLY one to buy a kit while on a family vacation to Disney World. Back in 2006 I bought a Tamiya Morris Mini kit at the Japan pavilion for $12.00. My wife gave me a hard time. I told her to buy the mementos of D.W. that she wanted and I'd buy the ones I wanted! Good Times. Good Times. LOL! Later-

That is beautiful. What nice clean work you've done on this one. What blue color is that on the seats? Later-
