Looking beautiful. Nice and clean work. Great job. Later-

got mine a couple of days ago....for FREE! (still like to find out who got the sub for me) What a beautiful issue. Lots of great ideas. I like the paint on the pink bug on #37 and the couple of Ted Lear's cars on #27 and #58 and those scratch-built masterpieces on # 64 and the many other excellent builds. Great job guys! Nice work on another mag MCM staff! Later-

Yeah, Mikelo, Let's keep going. I'd like to see what progress you've made on yours. Later-

Those are both nice looking tuners and I like the interior of the Skyline. Good work. Later-

That is Sa-weet! What a parts box you have. Looks great. Later-

That is a beautiful color on that T/A! And what a cleanly built model. Looks great. Later-

Congratulations to all the guys for completing your builds and winning! Personally, I feel like a lump for not finishing mine, but I do intend to complete it and post it here. Keep watching. Later-

what to use for underhood detailing?
Modlbldr replied to jhuntsman's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Old electronic gadgets from the thrift stores. Old speakers (also good for metal screen, using the speaker cover), telephones, etc. Anything that came with wires or hoses I tear apart. Sometimes I get left over wiring from construction job sites, too. Later- -
Nice paint job on this one. But, from you, that's to be expected. Later-

I also spent some time tonight working on the seat belts, although I didn't take any photos of them. I had a problem with some red plastic that I'd used to attach the whale tail to the engine boot. It kept wanting to bleed through my white primer so I shot a light coat of silver on it. Hopefully when I put my next coat of primer on it won't show. Although I am not going to finish in time for the contest, I am still enjoying this build and plan to stick on it until it's done. I hope everyone else had fun and I look forward to seeing the builds. Later-

Well, I won't finish in time but I thought that I'd post tonight's work on my Beetle. I spent a few hours bending and re-bending solder for my exhaust. Here is where I'm at with it. I still need to add the P.E. header flanges, collector and the stinger pipe. Once I start all of that on my next session I'll do the fine tuning to get a bit more ground clearance for the exhaust. It won't be much due to the low ride height and the exhaust having to clear the bumper. The bumper will be able to be raised a bit , but not much without interfering with the engine boot. I also have some paint overspray to clean up on the engine. More in next post. Later-

Beautiful color. What is it called? As stated before, you did a great job removing the vinyl top. Later-

That's a beautiful pair. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this. Keep the photos coming. I didn't notice it at first but those headlights are huge! Later- -
That's cute. I had ONE (notice, ONE) of their paint jobs years ago when I was young and broke. Not much has changed, except that I'm older. I used the paint thinner and a rag earlier today and it worked beautifully. Now, I'll go out to the hobby dungeon and they'll be a sopping puddle of goo on my desk. Just kidding. They're fine. Now if I can get the rest of tonight's work done without one step forward and two steps back..... Later-

For it being your first one back it looks like a winner. I've got a few projects that I started 20 yrs ago (and some 15 yrs ago) and they aren't even that far along. My Dad bought a 78 F250 Supercab Camper Special in 78. It was the Cinnamon and tan two tone. What a beautiful truck. Funny thing is, his fought him the entire time he owned it too. Can't wait to see more progress. Later-

Thanks guys. I'll try those out. Just wasn't sure if thinner would hurt them or not. Later-

I got a bit of paint overspray on my tires and need to remove it. What's the best way without damaging the tires? The tires are Pegasus and the paint is either Tamiya rattlecan or Testors rattlecan Boyds Pacific blue. Not sure which cause they're pretty close to the same color. Thanks for your help. Later-

What do you use for exhaust pipes, handlebars, etc.
Modlbldr replied to bigmikevee's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I agree with Mike. Thanks for all of the help. I've used solder to make headers before and I really liked it. I've just never painted or polished it. I'll have to try some of that armature wire too. Thanks again. Later- -

Along the same lines of these questions, I would like to know a couple of things. For those who use solder to make exhaust pipes, do you polish it before you bend it to shape? It seems to me that you would have to. Otherwise you would mess up the bends in it while polishing it. Am I correct? Later- -
I have to admit that those wheels are about the only good thing about that Barris T Buggy. I passed up quite a few of them for cheap until I saw the wheels from my buddy's kit. I thought they were sweet. I went back to pick up a couple of the kits and they were gone. I've got one of these B.B. kits and have been looking for a way to improve it. Looks like you found it. Nice job. Later-

Ken- That looks like some clean work. Keep it up. I'm watching this one. The 68-69 Darts are one of my favorite. Later-

I like it. Great creative work. Sure makes it look like something different than a work truck. Cool. Later-

I like the painted steelies with spider caps. Are those from ModelHaus? Looks great. Later-

Rick- Nice job on that! I see what you mean about the red bleeding through. It still looks good though. I've got a build going right now that I have primered in Krylon white. There is one piece on the entire body that is made from red plastic and it is bleeding through. I think that I may hit it with a bit of silver and then the white primer to see if that helps. Fortunately for me it is on the underside of a whale tail so it may not show so badly. It may be in the shadows just enough. Anywho....enough rambling. Your build is cool. Later-

Erik- What great work on this build. Your attention to detail is fantastic. I'll be watching this one AND your 62 Impala. Later-
