Pile O' Parts RPU
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Got the front end lowered today before heading home. Made quite a difference. The front of the frame now sits below the centerline of the tire. Starting on lowering the rear tomorrow. Later- -
Thanks Sam. You too. Later-

Maybe a dark flat red or orange with cream frame and wheels. Later- -

So you did! I fingered it would happen. No surprise.? Looks like I'm paying up. Been trying to figure out a paint color and trying to decide whether to go flat or metallic. Later- -

Ok. Got it temporarily up on wheels. I think it sits too high. Going to make a new attachment bracket for the front spring/spreader bar to lower it a bit and perhaps lower the spring mount on the front axle. I think I'll need to Z the frame in the rear. I had planned to channel the body just a bit over the frame. I think that will be a must now. Later- -

Wow! That looks really good! Love the color choice and the tire upgrade. I have to get me one or two of these. Later- -

Roger, Great looking work! You've done a beautiful job on this. Love the stance and the color. I'm glad this went to you. I have another set of those decals, if you want to try again. Let me know. Later- -

When I go to On the Workbench section there is the Rules for On the Workbench and following that is all the ads. Later-
-
So, after the changes I went to Model Cars section and all of the On the Workbench posts are gone. Am I mistaken or did they not transfer over after the update. I read the required postabout the changes but didn't see anything saying they would be under a different section. Not complaining, just wondering. Thanks for all you guys do. Later-

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like it could be an opportunity for trouble. I doubt I will mess with them. Beautiful build though. I'll have to find me one of these 61's. Later-

AMT 1962 Mercury Monterey convertible in color
Modlbldr replied to RDean58's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks good in that color. Can you post a pic of the rear? I'd like to see the difference between the 62 and the 63 that I have. Later- -
That looks beautiful. I like the skirts and especially the tail lights. I can see now what the hood vents are supposed to look like. My 63 that I primed has the spot for the vents in the hood but they have not been opened. Not sure if I'll do that or not. I was going to go with Cragars and a hot rod look on mine, but you've got me rethinking my plan. Later-

Pile O' Parts RPU
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
My thought exactly. Who said it needs to be practical? And if it was supposed to be safe, we would never have seen vehicles that do 300 MPH+ or motorcycles with V8's that are used for drag racing (or motorcycles, period). The fuel tank stays! Now, as far as whether this build belongs in this category?- that was just me not thinking when I started it. Lol. Thanks for the fine comments everyone. I appreciate them. I started the work on the front suspension yesterday but didn't get anywhere. Can't wait to get back on it Monday and make some progress. Later- -
That's a great idea and going to look good, for sure. I'll be watching this. Later-

So, I got the bed lowered a bit to sit on the frame. It's starting to look pretty good to me. Now to settle on some tires and wheels and some locomotion. Later- -

Thanks guys. Not much done today. Actually had to work at work today. Worked out a bit of the front suspension though. Going for a suicide set up. Later- -
Maybe we can work something out since I have one already. PM me. Later-

Old thread, but I like the content. Nice looking wagons. Here are my two. One finished and one waiting it's turn. If anyone has parts for the Honda wagon to trade, PM me. Later-

That's kind of the way I'm leaning. 60's era custom. Later -

I spent the day cleaning up parts. Removing mold lines and filling low spots in the frame. I also have had this blue piece for a couple of years because I thought it would make a good grill surround. I narrowed it and this is what I ended up with. I think it will work well. Later- -

Exactly how it is supposed to be done! Beautiful work. I am studying this to see what I need to do for the one I'm working on. Thank you! Later-
