1. Could I be the guy that does the sound effects?
2. That's awesome! Now you should make one like Earl's in My Name is Earl.
3. The spark plug wires attach to the cylinder heads (the two rectangular parts in the middle tree, if you didn't know ). They basically sit in the spots between the exhaust manifold runners where they leave the heads, if that makes sense.
4. (As much as I hate seeing yet another post about off-topic stuff, which creates a paradox of sorts, I must answer!) I'm in school, thus I can't build anything during the week and am reduced to sitting on the computer wishing I was building.
5. In my revised opinion, I think there shouldn't be an off-topic section. However, I do believe that certain topics should be allowed in the General section. Topics such as something car related, other builds/projects you're working on, something going on in your life (new baby/spouse/etc.), and maybe tv/movies/music. The topics I don't want to see are ones that deal with politics/religion (goes for most here) as well as any sort of news story/current event/conspiracy theory/what have you. I think it's nice to share certain things that aren't model related with other members, especially if you know them really well. Granted you could PM it to everyone, but sometimes it's much easier to share out in the open.
6. a ) They actually used mid-70's Plymouth Furys, not Monacos. b ) The hood scoops were similar to the ones used on the Trans Am, the "shaker" style (that shook with the engine).
7. Haha yeah I was surprised how bright they came out, but it should look better once I get everything else painted on it. Of course now you can see what the general color scheme will be for this project (though the truck will also have plenty of BMF parts).
8. Thanks for the bump, great timing! Here's some pics of the painted trailer and boat. Eventually I'll be flocking the carpet gray, so it won't look so cheesy haha (no pun intended). I'll be putting on the blue stripes on the boat that came with the kit as well.
9. Regardless of if you have a learning disability or not, "u" is not a word and you should be able to spell somewhat properly. Edit: Something I learned elsewhere is if you have trouble spelling and don't have spell checker on your browser, simply type your responses in Word and use the spell checker there.
10. Are you talking about this one per chance? If so, it was in the October issue of SAE.
11. Thanks! It was my first major scratch built piece, and I'm certainly satisfied with the results. You're right though, winter break is coming fast! Already 2 months down and only 2 more to go.
12. Huzzah, a GMC Syclone kit! I'm so going to buy one of them! Now all they need is the Typhoon!
13. This will be the thread for my slow but ongoing project. I plan on rebuilding my Monogram F350 into a street-truck with plenty of custom work, and building a matching boat/trailer to go with. Since I'm currently in college, I won't have a chance to work on the F350 until winter break, but I have gotten a start on the boat and trailer (which were obtained in a trade with member route66modeler). To begin, I decided to rid of the horrible excuse of a boat trailer and build my own using 1/4" x 3/16" rectangle tubing, as well as parts of the original trailer. Here are some pictures of what I built up the past couple days (don't mind the grainy pics, I had to use my phone to take pictures). As you can see, I reused the tongue, box base, fenders, boat holder...things, lights, and the axle assembly. Enjoy!
14. The best thing would be if someone could make a mold for them, and pop out copies. They are one of the most (if not the most) popular tires used on muscle cars, and it would be awesome to be able to use them on a model.
15. To me though, it seems that every aspect of modeling already has a sub-forum covering it (models in progress, completed models, new models, tips/tricks, rants/raves, etc.) It really seems like General could be an area for just general discussion, regardless of topic. Heck, I'll even go for the suggestion of "OFF TOPIC" in the title, since there are quite a few thread titles that make you wonder what's actually in the thread. I could see a problem if the off-topicness was spilling over into the other sub-forums, but so far it seems to be staying in General.
16. Does Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls count? Most of the ones mentioned so far are great, don't care to rename them all though.
17. If only that's what Christine looked like in the movie! BTW, what kit is that hood scoop from? I have the same one in my parts box, but I don't know what it's from (or do you not know also?)
18. I meant er...model reference!
19. Here's a good CJ-7 version if you need some reference pics. Daisy's Jeep
20. I also use Photobucket, it's an excellent site. Here's a great thread for uploading to PB and putting a picture on here. Posting pics with Photobucket
21. Taillights are upside-down! Other then that, good work for a kit that's the wrong vehicle!
22. A lot of amazing work shops, and Wayne, you have waaay to many kits! Anywho, I don't have a pic of my work "area" since I'm so ashamed of it All I have is a 3 foot tall Craftsman tool chest with a 2.5ft x 2ft work area on top.
23. Hey, that looks great especially with those wheels! How did you tint the taillights (or did they come that way)?
24. I would also like to see some more model trucks/suvs. One that would seem to be a hit is a CJ-7. They could give the option of 4.2 I6 or 304 V8 (with option of stock or dual exhaust), hard top w/full doors or soft top (no top) with half doors, stock or custom bumpers, a choice of wheels (steel or custom alloy), a CB, and maybe some performance goodies. Everyone says that the kits of popular vehicles sell the most, and the Jeep CJ is very well known vehicle.
