Time To Go Medieval
Jordan White replied to MikeMc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is it Monday already? Boy did the week go by fast! -
To lighten up the mood a bit, this thread has gone from complaining about Evilone drawing attention to himself, to people who don't know how to use a camera. Wonder where it will go to next!

Many years ago, my grandpa drove around his 1975 Scout II until one day he rolled it. Now it's sitting in his yard rusting away. I decided to take AMT's kit, and recreate his Scout when it was in its glory days. Here is what it currently looks like: What I did to modify the kit was: remove lower molding (didn't have time to recreate the actual upper molding), used the wheels and tires from the '72 Blazer kit to simulate the wheel covers, added an antenna, sun visors, heater blower, radiator and washer reservoirs, master cylinder and brake booster, plug wires, more detailed air cleaner, correct accessory belt arrangement with power steering pump, vent window trim for rear quarter-windows, flip forward hood, cut out the door windows for a clearer view of the interior, installed the lowback seats from the CJ-7 kit, and of course 1975-correct grille (which includes clear headlight lenses). The exterior green on the model is somewhat lighter than the actual green on the 1:1, but I figured it would help the model pop a bit. (Sorry for the blurry pics, my camera wasn't cooperating) I plan on placing the model in a display case and setting it up at my grandparent's house. Enjoy!

Well I was finally able to complete the boat and trailer! I installed a spare wheel and tire, installed the bow support/winch from the Waverider kit, put on the brightwork on the boat, and installed the wiring to the engine. I also stripped the paint off my F-350 kit, and have started spray painting the chassis, though I don't have any pictures of it yet.

Jeep CJ-7 from St. Elmo's Fire
-
Time to bring this page back to the top! I was finally able to finish my build over the weekend. Build is Demi Moore's CJ-7 from St. Elmo's Fire. And here's mine: Built pretty much box stock, with a few minor additions such as the front highback bucket seats from the AMT Scout kit, turn signal lever, spark plug wires, and of course the correct license plates. Enjoy!

A good Question for Gregg?
Jordan White replied to Nick Notarangelo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes but isn't a back issue like 6 bucks plus shipping, or something along those lines? Each issue is for 2 months, so there are 6 per year. 6 issues times 5 years comes out to be 30 issues, which when multiplied by 6 dollars comes out to be $180 for the last 5 years, which makes a $50 CD seem like a bargain! -
Actually he quoted all the pictures, from the original post, in his reply which was right after the original post.
-
This should be a good build, too bad about your broken models though! Plasticfrog: please don't quote all the pictures, especially since you're the post after the one you're quoting!

REALLY (or should be) a dead horse!
Jordan White replied to george 53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would think that rather then making a new thread every other week about this topic, a PM could just be sent to the offender letting them know. I'm sure most will gladly comply, and if there's a reason they don't want to, they can simply discuss it in private. -
Haha no biggie, it was all I had on hand. Plus, I'm not too worried about under the hood since it's supposed to be stock. Edit: Got the wheels and tires put on.
-
Got a little more done today. I put on both bumpers, the rest of the exhaust system, valve covers and air cleaner, and I put on the spark plug wires.
-
Thank you! Now Brian, you may continue with your project!
-
Oh I noticed all that, I just figured I should chime in with my research!
-
Okay, I did a little research and it looks like the 1968 models have the flat panel taillights (Belvedere only has the end lights, Satellite/Sport Satellite and GTX have full width lights). The 1969 models have the angled lights. 1968 has the round side markers, and the 1969 has the rectangular side markers.
-
The chassis and engine went together really well, and it looks like the rest of the kit should too. And yeah, it comes with the full steel doors.
-
Well by golly I finally got a little work done on my project! Basically I built up part of the chassis and engine.
-
Man, you're almost done and I haven't even gotten started yet! Ah well, such is college life.

Lets just ignore the whole debate on what exactly a muscle car is, and look at these two (main) rules: 1 it has to be an american car build between 1960 and 1980 2 it has to be a 2 door '94-'96 Impala SS violates both rules. Done deal.
-
They are both also classified as muscle cars by various people. To most people, the '94-'96 Impala SS is a sports sedan. I don't see anyone calling the BMW M5 a muscle car. Geez, this thread is going way off task. It's as simple as this: He who makes the rules can choose whether or not they are followed. Don't like it? Go elsewhere.
