OK, I'll admit that this is probably more interesting to me than to anyone else, but still, I'm gonna share. First off, I'm a rattle can enamel guy--I don't own an airbrush, and to date I've shied away from lacquers for various reasons. So, yesterday after work, since the weather was cooperating, I thought I'd paint one of the Revell '57 Chevy utility sedans. Since I was going for a 60s SoCal street racer look, I decided to try and replicate "Honduras Maroon" with Testors burgundy red metallic. Looking through my paint junk, I found a can of Plasticote copper I thought I'd undercoat with, and, man, did I get a surprise when I finished with the burgundy! I still haven't figured out what color the Chevy is, but I do like it. Best way I can describe it is a dark bronze, and it really looks deep--it turned out almost a candy finish. Next to something in straight burgundy red, it looks dark orange, but next to my Mazmanian Willys in candy apple red, it looks more maroon. I'm really pleased with the results, even though I'm not exactly sure what color I've got. Ah, serendipity...
