  1. Looks so good I'm heading for La Grange tonight...
  2. Really like '70 Camaros, and I really like your model! Great paint, that color suits the car well. Nice work!
  3. That is just outstanding! Love the engine, and really admire your attention to detail. Congrats!
  4. Nice job! Can't see too many Falcons, now can we? I like it!
  5. That's what I like about this site--somebody needs information, and somebody else has it and shares it. Ya'll are a great bunch!
  6. Really like the chop and paint, and I think that interior looks outstanding!!
  7. I'd like to see a variety of vintage speed shops included--lots of the weekend warriors in the '60s were sponsored by their local speed shops, muffler shops, etc. Most of what I remember and have seen photos of featured low-key graphics not much "flash". Another good source for you might be "Super Stock" by Larry Davis. Do a sheet like that with a bunch of hot rod related businesses on it, and I'll buy enough to keep you in business all by myself...
  8. what they said....
  9. For me, often I will purchase a rereleased kit so that I can improve on my first attempt. Lemme tell ya, every night I get on my knees and pray for, among other things, a second chance at the MPC Roger Lindamood '68 Charger funny car...I owe that one big time!
  10. Getting back to the "awesome" aspect for a minute, how does a kit get to the release point with obvious errors? My prime example is the '57 Chevy kits by Revell. Both models have the brake pedal to the left of the steering column. How does that happen? Did anyone look at an actual car? I really like the models, and it's an easy fix, but really...
  11. I built the '27 T when it came out, and enjoyed it--to my eye it looks pretty good. Over the years I've purchased some of the variants of the kit, and used the parts in other projects. My biggest gripe, though, is about the shape of the Cobra valve covers. If I remember correctly, as viewed from above they're shaped like a parallelogram, which looks kinda funny.
  12. Hey, thanks to everybody for the assistance! What I used was the "Painter's Touch" line of Rustoleum, and I cannot find any mention on the can of whether it's enamel or lacquer. Based on the fact that the painted model (Revell '57 Ford) is still somewhat tacky, I'm guessing enamel. My concern in this is that I'll probably want to touch it up with clear, and which to use. The specific paint was "gloss warm yellow", and to me it's a really great color, filling a gap between Testors bug yellow and the Phoenician yellow lacquer. And as you've probably figured by now, I don't have an airbrush, and it's spray cans for me for everything. And, since I usually use enamels, I don't mind waiting for a job to dry thoroughly--I've waited a year before in order to do a two-tone '57 Chevy (well, I mighta gotten sidetracked a little). Anyway, thanks again for the ideas!
  13. Tried my first paint job with a spray can of Rustoleum today, and I'm proud to say that I'm pretty happy with it. I do have a question though--anybody know if Rustoleum is lacquer or enamel? Jim
  14. My favorite is "back light" in referring to a rear window. Now really, is the most important function of that piece of glass to provide light for the interior of the car, or to allow the driver to see out of the car? If it was a terrarium on wheels, I could see it, but otherwise... I'm also getting kinda tired of "material", as in "I scraped material off the part so it would fit". Ninety nine times out of a hundred we're talking about plastic, not granite, or sheet rock, or kryptonite, or whatever, so why not just call it what it is?
  15. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who enjoys paper packing. It always bums me out when someone has used a USA Today--what good is that? I work in a grocery store produce department, and for a while we were getting mangoes wrapped in the Honolulu newspaper--now THAT was exotic. Jim
  16. Glad you're back, hope you're feeling better soon. Smart dog, and, speaking for myself, I wouldn't mind seeing more pictures of the car--I can always look at a '55 Chevy, and yours looks kinda interesting...
  17. Though I've only test-fitted them, the headers in any of the Nova kits appear to fit any of the Revell 55/56/57 Chevy V8s. They fit the Revell chassis, and seem to snug up under the body like they were made for it, with a very in-scale appearance. It's a nice kit, the '66 Nova...now if someone would just make a '64 Nova SS!
  18. Don't mean to bring you all down, but here on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies, things are pretty darn fine. Hot during the day (upper 90s lately), but very low humidity, and cool nights (I'm at just over a mile in altitude, and it was 52 the other morning). We get the monsoons, too, after Arizona's done with them, but they never last long. And yes, I know how lucky I am.
  19. Two more great looking models..I really like the P-6E; it's a good looking airplane, and you really did it justice. NIce work!
  20. That's some really nice work on those two...I have a special fondness for those old Monogram kits, and have to admit I have many of them in my stash. Fantastic work!
  21. I'd be in for a bunch...they'd look perfect on those '60s street racers and drag projects.
  22. Can anyone suggest a source for a simple "Doug's headers" decal? For a project I'm working on I need the standard, upper case "Doug's headers", or "Headers by Doug", in white, 1/25th scale. I have one set from the Revell Royal Pontiac '66 GTO, but I'd prefer Slixx if someone knows of something available. I've looked at the Slixx online catalog, but between my tired old eyes and sorry computer monitor, I can't find anything. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, believe me...
  23. Memory schmemory, it's a cool model. I like the dechromed look--how 'bout some more views?
  24. Based on an eBay sale, one of the rarest must be the Rubber Duck Mack truck by Ertl...one of those sold over the weekend for $340 (yeah, yeah, I know, it's alternate universe eBay, but still). I'd personally like to find an AMT '67 Cougar XR7. I had one then, and I'd just like to have another one.
  25. The Lindberg Maverick Dodge has a pair of "Torco Oil" decals in black, kinda small and positioned at the bottom of the front fenders ahead of the wheel wells.
