  1. You're just glossing over the danger...seriously, all's well that ends well. I'm a fan of the hot water route, myself.
  2. That's a really good looking model! I like the color, and the overall look of the car is perfect; good job on the decals, too. I like it a lot!
  3. NIce job--I like the wheels, and I'm curious how you got that flat magnesium looking finish. Great model!
  4. Glad to help, and you know you won't be sorry. Be sure to let us know how it's going and how it turns out!
  5. Why not go even farther back--a Fujimi 356 Speedster. Detailed kit and a slinky design...
  6. I'd arm wrestle you for the Evergreen load. That's a great haul of stuff you can find all sorts of uses for. Good job!
  7. Handsome machine. I like the wheels, the white interior, and the overall appearance. Great work, 'cause there ain't nothin' like a '64!
  8. Clear windows. If a car has six, I'll mess up four. And that's after I've put the job off for days...
  9. Good lookin' fleet. What color is the RR?
  10. Made my day seeing those guys! Great job!!
  11. The Revell Pontiac engine parts pack has what look like ribbed valve covers, and it's readily available on eBay.
  12. niteowl--now that's an interesting theory! Virtually the grassy knoll of models...
  13. Beautiful car, skillfully built. Congratulations of completion of a great looking scale model, and thanks for sharing.
  14. OK, so are we agreed that Chevrolet never produced a 1969 427 Nova for sale to the general public?
  15. If you build it the way you intend, you might want to check out the hub caps in the Revell '62 Impala. They seem to be smaller, and a better scale fit on the AMT wheels than the ones that come with the AMT kit.
  16. Thanks for a replies, guys. That pretty much matches what I've been able to discover, but I gotta admit, I'm kind of hoping someone will be able to document that they were available. Otherwise the model is basically a phantom, like AMT's '39 Chevy Wagonrod, and that takes all the fun out of it for me. And I can only imagine how a 427 would propel a '69 Nova--I owned a '64 Nova SS modified with a 350hp 327, and that almost made me soil my shorts more than once.
  17. I've been working on a Revell 1969 COPO Nova, and I started wondering how widespread and readily available these cars actually were. Revell states that Chevy dealers were using the COPO system to order them off the production line. I'm curious just how true this statement is, and if I would have been able to find one on the Felix Chevrolet lot in LA in 1969, for example. Did random dealers across the country have factory built 427 Novas for sale in 1969, or were they only available from select dealers like Gibb, and closely accounted for? Anyone have any facts that would shed some light on my latest burning question?
  18. Just to clarify, do you want pictures of the 409 engine, or pictures of the built '62 Bel Air bubble top? I can't provide photos, but I've built one of the stock '62, and one of the Hayden Proffitt super stocker, and both came out to my satisfaction...one of AMT's better creations.
  19. If that's the only thing you overlooked, "ya done good", as we say here. The more I look at it, the more I want to dig out my AMT hardtop and give it a try. I've been working on the Revell 2-door, and I kind of forgot, until I saw yours, how good they can look.
  20. I like it a lot, and the purple looks great on a '57. Only thing I see that I'd do different is paint the three hash marks on each front fender a brass/gold color. Other than that, you got one racy looking hardtop!
  21. WOW! This is some fantastic work. I'm really looking forward to seeing you finish this beauty...
  22. Great question--I've just recently wanted to do the same thing. I've been thinking the Yenko might be a better starting point, given the vent trim hood as well as the SS grill and rear. Both would work, I suppose, but I personally could use another set of the Yenko decals, so maybe I'll go that way. If you search "Nova" in the box at the top of the page, you'll find many great builds. For that matter, I'd like to know how all of you who've built these kits get the "350" or whatever in the front side light trim. Do you all shave the trim off and use the decal for the whole trim piece? Some of the completed models posted don't look like the whole thing is the decal, so I gotta ask...
  23. Great looking model. It's a build that I look at and think that it just "looks right". Outstanding work!

Wow! Be looking forward to more pics...
  25. Pretty nifty. Love the color, and the detail work shows you really put in the time! Great build.
