  1. We see eye to eye! ... the '91 I had that I'm also building started sometime in the mid- '90's!
  2. I found a junk yard on ebay 11 cars including two 944 and a 968 .. two are Hasegawa and red one is a Testors. I was needing mirrors for my '91 build and this seemed like a fun buy. They are pretty low level builds with gallons of tube glue used! At least I got the needed mirrors. The Testors kit used for the build here doesn't have a sunroof which I need to scribe for this build. After debating my options, including cutting out a brass sheet, I decided I'd sacrifice a body and cut out the sunroof to trace with the scriber. The two 944's are now sitting in the freezer ... they don't seem to want to pop apart with all that glue. I may also hack a chunk of the inner front fender of the red Testors one to patch the hole I cut in my '91 build to install the Testors reservoir and headlight motors. Fun, FUN, FUN!
  3. I have that kit and another I got cheap and all in yellow that donated it's 3.0 liter engine to the '92. It's based off the 944 turbo kit with new body and many new pieces in the engine compartment. Otherwise it's the same trees.
  4. I do have two 968 kits along with a junker. One of them donated it's engine for the build of my '91 944. I had planned to replace the 1:1 '91 with a 968 but could never find one since so few were made. Someday I'll build a 968 and who knows how that might get modified! I forgot about the windshield getting flush and I'm NOT going there! ... this is supposed to be a simple build!
  5. Don't get mad at us for drifting a little in our questions raised by your amazing build here, Bill. My mind goes to all sorts of wondering as I watch your work progress and learn from your comments ... I love all sorts of Beatles too. I came on this thread on Samba that shows more Beetle kits than I knew existed and might give someone some answers ... just forgive me for inserting it here ... I'm loving your build!!
  6. This could absolutely stunning in silver and full detail!
  7. I know I shouldn't be starting yet another build, but my '91 944 is approaching paint and this one, both of which I owned, is the same Guards Red and I should have both ready for my most hated model task .. PAINTING! I have no photos of the 1:1 so here's a few that are the same color and wheels. I just found a photo of my 1:1 ... I located an old Testors 944S kit which has the correct front bumper. I think I have some Fuchs wheels coming from a gracious member, o-man, also. And I located a Monogram 924 kit to supply the old, 924 style dash. I'm going to try something I've never done before with this one ... build a CURBSIDE! I'm going crazy again on the engine for the '91 944 and figure I should give myself a break. Here's a body shot along side the '91 in the back with primer. Hopefully the red plastic on this version won't hurt the red paint! ...
  8. Beautiful!
  9. It's easy if you use Google to search the forum ... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49626 Unfortunately, it looks like you moved or deleted all the photos, Jim.
  10. Looks pretty clean, especially for a first build! May you have many more.
  11. That looks better than the 1:1's did on the showroom floor!
  12. You definitely ended building a real looker there!
  13. Replicas and Miniatures has one that I'd expect would fit. I came on a photo of one on a Revell kit. http://www.mamasboyz.org/20051101.html
  14. A few kits to supply parts for some builds in the works ... I'm ruthless at buying a kit just for a part .. ... but it's so much fun! The Carrera 2 is donating it's 928/944 Turbo style wheels to a '91 944 while the older Carrera's Fuchs are going to a '84 944 build. The Beetle was bought for the new style vertical headlights for a '69 Beetle build. The Monogram 924 is donating it's old style dash to an '84 944 build. The Testors 944 Turbo was for the body for the '84 944 until I found it was the Turbo front end, finally finding a 944 S that had the correct bumper showing needed for this build. I expect they'll all supply pieces for other builds including a 944 Turbo engine for a rat rod!
  15. I'm out of breath watching this come to be. Much of what you're doing I keep in mind to work even in my smaller scale!

    1941 Lincoln

That's cleanly done for a cantankerous old kit! That color really makes it!
  17. I had the same question as Harry when seeing this. It really sets the model off!
  18. Welcome to the forum.
  19. I always thought the original '84 Fuch wheels, black centers and chrome ring, looked the best on the 944's. As a prelude, since I won't be starting it for awhile, I'm using a Testors 944S which has the correct front end with some Fuchs off a 911 and an old style dash from a Monogram 924. I'm thinking I don't want to go crazy with the engine so I may just use the turbo without a lot of detail added ... we'll see.
  20. I understood you right the first time. I remember using the dash for maximum extension also in the 924's! The seats prevented using the foot wells properly.
  21. How did I end up riveted to a build in All The Rest??? oh yeah, Ira's mind exploded again!
  22. I only drove one 911 and they are great cars. I'll admit I'm not a great driver (I always seemed to miss the local Porsche track events at Limerock) and I didn't have wads of cash when I bought my first 924 turbo, but the handling blew me away! It made me feels like I was a race driver. Suspension is what I look at first in a car and the 924/944 had what 911's WISH they had. They were also my daily drivers all year round in snow country. Did you know eight foot long 2x4's fit in a 944 ... with the hatch closed! Thanks for your gracious comments.
  23. That was a great color! Thanks for your kind comments.
