  1. Lego Digital Designer!!
  2. Glad to see you posting your work and building with your Dad rocks! That's how I got started. Your painting skills ARE looking good at your age. One trick for painting trim is to use some masking tape, like 3M painters tape, along the edges and then you can just slop the paint on.
  3. Very clean looking build! Did you paint the window trim? It looks sharp as a tack. I just love these cars. They just make me think ... who would have thought back in the '60's that Detroit would build a chopped station wagon!
  4. A model of your first car is the BEST! That was a pretty classy Corvair. Very cool. Now why wasn't the one my Aunt gave me a '51 Ford rather than a Plymouth. She should have known when she bought it that it wouldn't be easy to model!
  5. Oh no! Really, this looks like a fun project! That camper will be really unusual. And, I saw you're planning a diorama for it too ... cool! That camper looks like it was MADE for the Deora ... was it really?
  6. That stinks. But, some places just don't get it and treat customers like they don't exist. Where was it ordered from?
  7. I could see those small lights working as "highlights" and special lit areas with a little shielding of the bulb from the camera.
  8. Welcome in and glad to see you've been watching, Andy. (I told Santa you need a camera for Xmas) I think I was 8 when I started building, but it took a couple years before AMT started making cars ... then the planes just flew away.
  9. I've never used those lights to photograph, but lighting is all relative ... one light to another. The basic lighting is one spot light ... maybe that reading light could work for this ... say to the right of the camera and up a bit. Then another lower level softer light to the left to fill in. This could be filtered with a thin cloth to soften it and lower the light level. The real trick would be to get the second light the same color temperature as the reading light. I'm not sure how those reading lights are colored. In truth, incandescent lights may give a nice yellowish lighting that would look like the sun going down and add to the image. Lighting an image is more complicated that rust! But, digital cameras make taking test shots a breeze .. and they are free!
  10. Not on the body, but was a good first test of the paint. It looks like I got the wrong color from Paintscratch.com ... my fault. I was in another model where Medium Blue Metallic was the darkest color. I thought it looked light, but you never know from a computer image. This is definitely too light. I went back and put in the correct model, G3500, and there was a Dark Blue Metallic. This HAS to be the one, so maybe it will come by the time bodywork is done. A darn good chance there! Anyway, this paint went on like butter as usual. I find their paints to go on very even and is easy to get a good paint job. It comes as a brush touch up paint so I added about a twice the paint amount in lacquer thinner to spray it.
  11. Now, this is what the internet is all about! Everyone gets to see the old show detailing this build to model! Be sure to see it's actually 6 files. Now I need to see the show with george53 putting my Mopar together so Ican check how the interior of the glove box looks.
  12. The engine compartment looks just busy enough to give the right effect.
  13. BIRD NESTS!!! OMG!
  14. Very nice job and a great looking one at that! The exhaust scum looks good.
  15. This is fantastic, Peter! And I agree with Cruz ... no better rep for us could be had. She did do a good job on the article. Things were explained well with a good cross-section of the hobby. The photos also gave a good cross-section .. even if MOST of us don't vacuum form! But they did show what the article was talking about. and where in heck did you find that tie?! .. well I didn't mean THAT tie .. just ANY tie.
  16. That's a fine looking Chevy! Very nice build!
  17. This is wonderful seeing all the work along the way going into this build. The body has a real leadsled look and that mural is WAY over the top! Please keep going!
  18. hehe ..I had to go back to the archives for this one. It's an old mesh ... kind of like a '50 Revell kit!
  19. I did at first put just one image and the link to my photobucket page with the others but it seemed to load pretty good for me. If you're having trouble with that connection I'm putting it back to the way it was.
  20. Only have a '94, so you'll just have to backdate it. Some things will never change!
  21. This is one of the companies making 3D Printers referred to me by TDR
  22. It's 16 degrees out in my garage and a bit warm for this time of year.. may have to crank the a/c up. but I only use it to store my 1:1 models anyway.
  23. I see you like to live dangerously!
  24. Awesome, Charlie! If I remotely gave you a idea for one of your builds, I've done my job.
