  1. Those are some excellent cuts! I'm surprised the hood came back together so well.
  2. The small side window trim is being done over and thought I should show how I did the window trim. I taped a piece of index card behind the window opening to give something to act as a stop and guide to get the trim even with the inside edge of the body. I used .02" x .04" Evergreen strip as the body was a hair over .04" thick at the windows and the .02" thickness bent tight into the window radius. I worked around the window about 1/8" at a time as I positioned the trim strip and touched a fine brush of Ambroid plastic cement. With this trim complete I can finally put a coat of primer on the whole body and start getting the little areas needing smoothing! Note the fine hair focus on my camera!
  3. Where can I buy this kit? .. although, I can see I will have to fix the rear wheel wells ...
  4. With the great things TDR is doing and talk in the Moebius threads about making models from CAD files, the ability to "print" a model from a 3D file has entered my "wish list" again and I've been looking at all the 3D vehicle files I've acquired over the years. While it's cool to texture up a 3D file to whatever paint and finish I desire and render a picture I've always had bid dreams of being able to send it to the "printer" to carve me out a 1/25 rendition! I really expect this will be a reality someday in the future. As TDR has shown, this is already entering commercial world! My entrance into the 3D world was collecting 3D mesh files of any automobile I could find. After 18 years of this, I've amassed quite a garage full. Most don't have textures applied in the 3D file so the basic renders on the following contact sheets are only crude renders to show what the 3D file consists of. I spent many hours applying textures. I just thought some might like browsing these images imagining you could just load up one of these files and print yourself of the car you could never find a model of! 5. This truck has survived our salt pretty well also ... I would have snapped it up too!
  6. My Mozilla FireFox doesn't have the magnification option like Internet Explorer does (that I don't use anywhoo)
  7. I can't wait to see that working top! .. amazing!

    Das Bug

The proportions and details just look right to me.
  9. I'm impressed by the window glass .. it looks like it's reflecting AND you can't see through it with any clarity.
  10. I've been lax checking in here lately ... what a great find! Worst case, some nice parts, but water and plastic do get along!
  11. What a wonderful looking body! I'm gonna love watching this one come to be!
  12. I keep thinking of one with all the old '49-'51 Merc tricks on it ...
  13. I have a '50 Plymouth body I'll sometime convert to a '51 I had. It's not the greatest body but it's the only game in town and Steve was up front about the quality from the start. Here's a link that has his email on it.
  14. These are all great looking! No one should be allowed to have toys you can play with that look that good!
  15. Welcome in here and that's some nice work on the truck, especially that weathering. I'm no RCer but that chassis is impressive! Besides, anything wit a body gets noticed here!

    VW Lug Bug

Very cool! I love the look of this!
  17. I don't believe I've posted my area to any of these threads, so here goes. It's a pretty simple area in the basement and has increased in function as the need arises. I feel it's pretty complete and suits all my needs at the moment. Nothing like the spotless areas I see many of you have, but I/m the only one that comes down here so it's function over form. Main work area under the stairs... where all the magic comes undone! Storage behind the table Storage continued with paint booth at the end Paint booth closeup small pegboard with Shapes and spoons main table closer
  18. A great looking one there. Looks like 24 hour delivery on the mail.
  19. That would be someone's lunch.
  20. Thanks everyone. Unfortunately, these aren't the hinges that have been giving glue troubles. Those are for the back doors, but I think a solution is at hand.
  21. Here's some shots of the hinge mold process. I used RTV silicone putty and squish cast them on an old body. Then I tried something different and used melted sprue to cast them. It wasn't the best material to use but it worked. The toughest part was getting the sprue to fill the mold as it wanted to lift out. After adding more Ambroid to the mix it behaved better. I probably cast over a dozen hinges trying to get 4, but it was quick and cheap. You can see it got stringy as it was out of the jar longer. The photo's are of a set that had air bubbles and were recycled! They are now glued (with regular styrene glue!) to the body and I got the window trim installed using .02 x .04 strips. The small window looks like it needs to be redone. It was protesting the bending and twist going around the small radius.
  22. I'm all giggly just looking at those parts with all their bumps, holes and intricacy!
  23. Nice work on that frame! This will be something different ... I like it.
  24. I don't sweat the shine much on my 1:1 cars.
  25. Thanks for that Darin. Now if all these "experts" would just remember it. I doubt it, even when truth is shoved in their face do fools continue. And I love ya all!
