You really started one mentioning gas cap placement, Harry!! Of COURSE they belong on the driver side.. that is convenience!! I remember hearing a year or so ago that there were some regulations coming to put gas fillers all on the same side for all cars.. wonder what ever happened to that. I doubt anyone or country could actually do that. -
Yeah .... double blown .. A LOT of horses!!!!!
-
Great build, of course, and unusual subject, which I love, Peter.
-
Underside has a really good look to it.

This one seems to have been on the workbench a LoooooNG time! With this new listing I won't have to do a long forum search to find it now. The weathering looks very believable.

That engine looks like it was manufactured for that engine bay ...oh.. I guess it was! Looking beautiful

MCM May/June showed up today!

That explains why it takes a week and 5 days to get it in New England and 2 full weeks to Chi Town .. the poor dude has to keep paddling up the Erie Canal into the Great Lakes! Then 2 weeks back and start again. At least Gregg is efficient with time management. Someone send Gregg a 747 Model and maybe he'll see how technology has advanced since his Pony Express days. I want my, I want my, I want my MCM!! -
Nice deal ... you have some good will power to hold out on one you've been searching for. I love the shape of these too.. will be eying this.

Thanks for the story, Rick. ..not long winded at all and enjoyed it. This car is what it's all about. .both drags and model building. I never raced, but still am hooked building cars I've owned or imaginary low-budget dream machines. I'll be waiting impatiently to see your Chevy in color!
-
yup.. this just keeps getting better and better! Your solution on the suspension was beautiful.. simple and the bolts added great detail.
-
That's a great shot outdoors!! colors blend well and scale looks just right.

Harry's comment about using sprue to hold paints for painting reminds me that IS my biggest use of the stuff eheh!! I have numerous hangers made using a long straight piece maybe 6 or 8 inches long with a 90 degree turn at the end and another small turn on that so it forms a hook to hang from the wire I have strung along my basement/workshop floor joists. All just snipped from a sprue. Some have alligator clips clamped and taped on the end while other have toothpicks taped on. These hold almost all the small parts I need to paint though, occasionally I need to use a circle of masking tape, sticky side out stuck to the end of a tongue depressor to hold a part that defies the ally clip, toothpick hold.. say AHHHHHH!! -
Ah yes .. that's beauty in my eyes! Looking great!!

Breakfast was a pleasure! (please don't count the eggs) All the details stand out ... but the graffiti especially make this one-of-a-kind and really do the job!

Two in a row, George!!! Sorry I can't help with the hood. (: Wish ya luck Drag City Casting

I came on these after first reading this. I personally can't vouch for any of these sites but just wanted to hold George's hand. smooth-on.com I know a lot of craft people that buy from this site, though I have not at this time. Started Set I'm not sure of the exact Smooth-On product number for the resin everyone is using ... could someone enlighten us?

92 Crown Victoria - 8-29-17 wheels, interior and antenna
Foxer replied to Foxer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks for the comments. The front seats are close to 40/60 but they were separate. I saw somewhere that there were 2 "benchseat" versions and one may have been a split backrest bench. There was also a armrest on the driver's seat that folded down. Not sure at this point I will go to that stage of detail. There are full side windows that will make most interior detail cloudy. [edit: I later found the seat split was really 50/50 but am just leaving it 60/40 since they are all done and painted.] -
I'm thinking I will be needing to get back to casting some small parts and Smooth-On sounds interesting. They do have a web site and I expect their products are available on line. What is their exact product you all use? The small amount of casting I've done was with Micro-Marks products and bubbles were a major problem with me. Does SmoothOn's products minimize the bubble problem? I know this can't be eliminated without some "exotic" techniques .. at least for me wit the small amount of casting I will need.

92 Crown Victoria - 8-29-17 wheels, interior and antenna

The seats got some work widening them. The car had split front bench seats. They are separate but close together so they can act as a full bench when needed. The driver's seat is wider than the passenger's so they were cut down the middle and different widths of .040 styrene was glued between the halves. This thickness allowed some roughness in application that could be filed later to match across the seams. The seat in the interior bucket has been rough filed/sanded and the other was just glued I pretty much struck out finding a material I could use to simulate the velour on the real car. What little I did find was either too light or dark or not blue at all. So looks like I have to fix the embossed pattern and just paint. -
Even the color of the paint cap suspension is color coordinated..! Looking fantastic!

That is a great build! The details really make it stand out.

When cutting parts off the sprue I always use clippers ... they offer much more control than a knife. I also cut the part off first by clipping the sprue and then get close and clip the part away. Hold the part and not the sprue to keep it from flying, And yes, my carpet still DOES eat parts frequently. When I start a new kit I grab a ziplok bag and all the parts go in there as soon as they're off the sprue. This has worked well in keeping the weight of my carpet monster down! I'm paranoid with throwing "empty" sprue out, I usually check 5 times for missed parts and then still save it in the sprue bag for later scratch building.
