  1. Thanks for saying how you're doing it. Maybe I should go back and do it for NNL East. I like your method.
  2. As my 20 year build of the one I owned sits wanting a finish on the BMF, I've been really enjoying your take on this one. Do give us some input here on this massive chrome trim monster when you finish that off! Those corners on the fins have thrown me. I'll be hoping to see this at Wayne.
  3. That's cool. has numbers even!
  4. The product is known. It's time for an expansion. For someone keeping the quality and products moving.
  5. I loved the '58's. They must have built a lot or junked many judging by how many headlight sets were worn by customs of the day.
  6. The rims being towed are spinning. What's different I don't see?
  7. 2X and it's a good looking model. Nice work.
  8. oh yes, with any ink an acrylic clear is needed
  9. Simply a beautiful Build! That paint looks great on it.
  10. I've been using the R3000 at the highest photographic print setting with no problems. I usually let the print sit for half a day or so before I apply the clear acrylic spray coating .. a couple light coats seems to do it. Once I do this I have never had any problems with ink running when soaking them. I have used Testors decal paper but only once. I didn't have any specific problem but just had a lot of Micro Mark stuff on hand. It seemed competent. I have heard of this clear film that has to be removed before but on Papilio's site there in no mention of it in all their How To Print instructions, nor is there any mention in the documentation that comes with it. Could you explain more?
  11. This is interesting ... I tried Papillio because of all the good things said about it, but it would not lay down smooth. I tries 3 kinds of softeners and it still wouldn't set. If it does require removal of a clear protection film, their instructions did not mention this. Maybe this is what made it seem too thick to settle over bumps. That is very odd because I had no trouble printing .. with my Epson printer. Mine is an R3000 with UltraChrome K3 pigment ink, so the ink is probably different that what was mentioned. I have been using Micro Mark paper a lot and it works very well.
  12. not pretty to us, but the Air thinks so ... and I like it. It does look menacing
  13. That build is magnificent ... as are your photos!
  14. The last application of two part putty, just some small spots to go after a primer check .. I did fill the holes made for first tail light attempt to bend and putty some stick on tail lights.
  15. replace "hot rod" with "custom". They got to be interchangeable back in the day. We weren't so much into defined labels either. There was no such thing as a "traditional hot rod" back then either. I don't know why that definition is needed now either. they can still look goofy!
  16. For some reason, I never considered doing that. I guess I could fill the primer table with what's in process here!
  17. Some imagination needed here .. not even at a mock up stage on my '51 Plymouth
  18. Nice, the Volvo you had got modeled! Looks very nice. I'm still waiting for them to do a 145.
  19. As various body areas that need some putty build-up dry, I've been contemplating how I can do the tail lights. The body had weakly molded lights in the body mold. My first try involved cutting the fender with holes in shape of tail light and using a couple plastic channels glued face to face to slide in the holes. Then I could shape the end sticking out and glue and putty on a small round for the reflector. It looks like I won't be able to get the channel piece straight into the fender without really thinning the fender on the inside of the outside fender surface. Now I'm thinking about wrapping a piece of .03 plastic around the fender end and adding, carving all the detail to that and just glue on to the fender. Getting the first wrapped piece to hold shape will be the biggest problem ... thinking of applying some thin glue to surface to form it.
  20. That DOES look very nice! I'm curious about scale also.
  21. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking AMAZING, John
  22. Bummer, but an even better reason to do a model of it!
  23. The same happened to me a couple months ago and when relating it to my LMS owner he came up with this he makes ... just a piece of foam with a hole drilled in it ... works very well and simple!
  24. That DOES look like it melting into the earth. Nice job!
