Modelhaus does have a 1966 Corsa convertible. Available as a complete kit or body/interior to use with a later issue. It's curbside but easy to open up the engine lid. Don also has the missing plated turbo parts for sale but they come unplated. The original unplated parts have been in most of the reissued kits including the prestige and last versions. These are the turbo, carb, and exhaust pipes. The original plated parts were the intake crossover tube, the turbo aircleaner, and the spare tire heatshield. These have been missing in all kits since the 1966 Corsa ( they may possibly have been leftover in the 1967 Monza kit),

Not positve but it sure looked like it was. The "custom" was a early - mid 70's issue that left out a lot of parts, including stock. The AMT annual 1967 - 1969 Corvair kits were pretty much all the same and still had the Fitch Sprint parts ( roof, trombone exhaust ) and Yenko parts ( c pillar fillers, engine lid ). I would have to check but the only annual kit with factory correct wheel covers may have been the 1967. The 1969 annual kit was reissued in the early to mid 70's as a Corvair Monza with yellow car on the box, the Yenko Stinger box, and the Custom. The Corvair Monza and Yenko boxings had all the optional parts from the annual kits, even some left over turbo parts from the 1965-66 Corsa versions. The wheels included changed some but all kits had 5 slot chrome Ansons(?), or 5 spokes.. The prestige kit also had all of the Sprint/Yenko parts but also included the correct 1966-1969 factory wheel covers. The last issue from 10 yrs ago or so has all of the Sprint/Yenko parts as well, This kit also included a top boot that never appeared in any of the kits but was for the promo's. The last issues were the best as they had the most option parts plus the boot. The funny car kit is just the stock body on the mid engine chassis. The only corvair related parts that are unique are headlight bucket fillers and front spoiler.

'73 Chevrolet Chevelle- Mastered by Tom Ellifritt
vairnut replied to W-409's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
My Chevelle arrived a couple of weeks ago. Very nice kit. Appreciate the work these guys do and for being so great to deal with. To follow through contacting me when my number was up after 14 months after getting my request in shows commitment and service no typical nowdays !!! Bring on the 1911 Chevy ! -
I haven't checked out the Scorpion kit in detail. I have 2 of them but both still have the parts bags sealed. I have 2 of the Astro 1 kits but both are builders, complete but all loose parts. The Chezoom is one I just wasn't going to spend $200 + on to have a copy of. All 3 have been pretty hard to find. In the past 20 yrs I've found the scorpion to be the most common and least expensive. Found more Astro 1 kits for sale than the Chezoom, but both of these have always been expensive. I'll probably pick up at least 6 of the new issues. Would really like to see a nice new tool kit of a 1962 - 1964 Spyder cvt and a pickup/van kit but that will never happen.

Newly reissued Revell BRE Datsun 510 Racecar kit

Does this issue have the tubing for fuel/oil lines as the original ? Is the plumbing still on the instructions ? -
Somehow I missed this until today. Good thing as I would get too involved in the full size discussion side of things. Currently have 8 Corvairs and drive them daily - have for more than 35+ yrs now. Great to have this available as it's the 1 Corvair kit I do not have. There were a lot of full size Corvair funny cars from the mid '60's until about 1970. It was the Chevy racers body of choice. Most of these ran during the transition period of evolving from AWB to actual flip top funny cars. I am unaware of any mid engine real ones though. For a more accurate real version the stock or a stretched wheel base body on the AWB Rat Packer kit works best. The Seaton Shaker and Malcom Durham's Strip Blazer were a couple of the well known transiton cars. The Pisano Bros. car was more of a conventional funny car. The stock Corvair kit body fits the Rat Packer chassis and interior pretty well. I moved the Corvair rear wheel wells fwd to match the AWB kit wheelbase. There are a couple resin bodies available that are "drop on's" as well. AMT also kitted the Chevrolet Astro 1 Corvair based show car as a mid engine funny car. The kit was called the Scorpion.

The Heller/Union Ferrari 512S also showed up a couple years ago as a Fujimi kit. A little odd given their nice 917's and 330P4 kits

Will GM's problems ever end?
vairnut replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The large amount of recalls have really nothing to do with any quality issues or problems with the product. It is a direct result of the ignition switch controversy. All of these recalls are completely internal, none are Govt. driven safety related. Every minute issue is being reviewed and corrected as a public perception initiative. Some of these that have involved hundreds of thousands of vehicles - are for issues found on 2 vehicles. None of these recalls involve large numbers of problem vehicles or components found. If ANY other manufacturer applied this same scrutiny to their vehicles there would be millions of recalls weekly. Even the ignition switch issue was not a mandated recall. Things tend to get quite skewed when lawyers get involved. Don't expect air bags to save you if you refuse to put on a seatbelt. -
No plastic 2014 Stingray kits? Could it be?
vairnut replied to Len Geisler's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Just got the maisto 1/18 diecast and it is pretty nice. Will modify it a little to match the development vehicle I posted pics of. Never been a fan of the real cars until this C7. Most comfortable car I have ever driven - feels and sticks like it's 1000 lbs lighter than the C6 and all others. The diecast will have to do for now - but this car needs to be kitted. Everything else in it's class costs at least 50% more, and as a daily driver I get 28 - 30 mpg every tank with it ( only do a couple way more than needed accels a day though ). -

Patto has several decals available that will work for the 1/16th kits. Problem is for the #22 car the foil #'s are not available. Patto does not use and ALPS so he cannot print chrome or gold foil. Dave Van has the K&K #71 available in 1/16th.

Engineer - engine calibration which is getting engines to start, drive, pass emissions, get decent mileage. Get to travel to northern Canada in winters and southwestern desert in summers. Been resposible for spark advance for the past decade including spark knock detection and control, and camshaft position for variable valve timing engines. Also some diagnostics and turning on that nice check engine light once in a while.

definitely in for 2 of the stock chevy kits !!!

Got 2 '55 300's yesterday from Spotlight. Very nice kit. Body looks great - mold lines almost invisible compared to the Hudsons. Packed a bit tight in the box and can see some issues with how the bumpers are packaged that may cause some scuffed chrome though. Very much like the copy of original sales literature included with it.

Fair weather driver for 12 yrs now - looks a lot worse than when this was taken - now with 160,000 on it. Salt and slush driver is a 1994 Cougar, 73,000 miles.

Got a Hendrix 1951 Pontiac Fastback kit today. Not too bad - needs a little grinding on the interior bucket to fit up into the body better. Complete except for a steering column and steering wheel. Not starting it anytime soon - 2 Hudsons and a 1958 Chevy Del Ray to finish first.

CorvairJim, been signed up since like 2009 just not around enough to recall I actually signed up. So the name was claimed a long time ago Tried to use a pic of 1 of my cars for avatar but haven't figured it out yet. Am starting a build of a '63 monza cvt like the real one I bought a few months back. Ivy Green with fawn interior. It's also a restoration of an unpainted built still in the prime/sand/prime stage. Also have a red/red Modelhaus '63 just about finished. Your description above is pretty much correct. About 20yrs ago I had an interview with Delphi Chassis for a position in the suspension area. As Corvairs were on my resume this came up and the engineering manager wondered how I could drive those unsafe cars due to the tuck under scenario. I ended up having to sketch out the real behaviour to him ! Having driven them for 35 years now and done a lot of crazy things with '62 - '63 corvairs -they have never scared me. Still use a '62 4dr as my "daily" car.

Nice Corvair, Great Job !
