  1. Nice! I started on an '80 about five years ago, if I ever get really ambitious I might even make up a Nissan turbodiesel for it.
  2. Guilty as charged...
  3. Thanks for the lead! I'm not sure if Dave would sell pieces from his kits individually either, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Guess I'll shoot him an email.
  4. Just wondering- did anyone ever do this style grille for the AMT kit?
  5. Now I'm kind of messing with the idea of pulling off the deck plate and putting a winch back there. Hmmmmm....
  6. VERY nice! The Diamond Reo is actually the best fitting of the AMT kits- the Road Boss is another story, though that one isn't quite the nightmare others make it out to be. I don't blame you for substituting the mirrors- that's one really sore spot with pretty much all the old AMT truck kits.
  7. This is a "grail" list- not necessarily a list of kits you'd like to see reissued. You can still want a particular kit even if there's no chance of it ever coming back.
  8. Stumbled across this while looking for some reference pics, and thought it was too cool not to share. http://bangshift.com/general-news/videos/awesome-video-a-1967-documentary-that-tells-the-tale-of-a-diamond-reo-dump-truck-that-conquered-the-african-safari-rally/
  9. Any of the Ertl IH kits that haven't been reissued are pretty high up on my "grail" list- including the 1466 farm tractor and the Off-Road and SSII versions of the Scout II kit. The F-2674 and Eagle 4300 Race Truck top the list of those. The original issue AMT GMC Astro 95 with the optional turbine engine. MPC Mack Rex Mixer Ertl Volvo N10 The early '60's Premiere Studebaker Champ and Corvair Rampside kits are right up there, too, but I'm not holding my breath until I find one, much less both. I wouldn't mind having a few from the AMT 1:43 scale "TNT" series, either.
  10. Main ingredient for a Michigan Special.
  11. Well... bit the bullet and started working on some new tanks. I'm expecting the kit fuel tanks to appear at any moment now.
  12. Or.... Aeromax 120 converted to a day cab?
  13. More or less. The White Western Star shares more with the White. The Diamond Reo has more specific components.
  14. Forgot- the tires are different as well (if you are talking about the current reissues). The White has Goodyears, the Diamond Reo has Uniroyals.
  15. As far as the kits go, the hoods, frame rails, fuel tanks, battery boxes, and interiors are different. The Reo has cast spoke wheels on all axles, the White has Alcoas on the front.
  16. Gary Wallace (GW Trucks) does a hood to do a set back axle DR. If you really wanted to go all fancy pants, said DR could be a Raider...
  17. If it were mine I'd pair it up with an International Paystar 5000 or a Diamond Reo with a set back axle conversion. Or maybe I'd go with a Ford Aeromax 106 converted to a day cab. But I can't shoot down any of the ideas others have already suggested.
  18. Trailer's a bit too short for that, but I might have another C-Series tractor kit laying around someplace.
  19. If you're reading this now you've missed it, but I just saw a re-run of "Call of the Wild Man" on Animal Plan it- in it, the "Turtle Man" removes a colony of rats from an abandoned Crosley wagon.
  20. Yeah... already used Eddie Murphy's Party All The Time single cover as my avatar... had to mix it up a bit. Either song could be my theme music.
  21. Dug out a started IMC trailer to pair up with the '59- not sure what I'll stick on the back, probably a junk car or something like that.
  22. Kind of makes you wonder if somebody in DR's advertising department was a modeler.
  23. Yes, you read that right. Stumbled across this last night and thought it was an interesting conversion, to say the least.
  24. Homemade tractor, with ingredients from a truck? I like it. It seems to happen with some frequency in 1:1.
