  1. One I've been playing around with the last couple of days.
  2. Bonus points if all the money you got from the boat went/is going toward modeling stuff.
  3. That is true- IF it takes. And sometimes it takes a couple of tries. That might be why Roger doesn't deem it worth the effort.
  4. Looks great with those wheels.
  5. You know, that's been done... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19870&hl=fugly
  6. Nice! You even painted the grille panel (everything but the headlamp bezels and grille) body color- that's something almost everybody who builds this kit misses.
  7. The 955 and 1355 were products of WFE meddling with it's 'heritage' brands. They were basically MM's Long Life engine and front axle mated to Oliver's transaxle and three-point system, a design which debuted with the first White-branded farm tractor. The 1355 was sold in White, Oliver, and Cockshutt livery as the 2270, and the 955 was also sold by Oliver and Cockshutt. They were the last trace of MM's engines, as White Motor Company did not believe in building their own engines. After the old names were dropped in favor of White, WFE bought its engines from outside manufacturers. The cab on my G1000 is from Full Vision, Inc. I'm not sure if it was made by Hiniker, produced under licence, or anything like that, but it does look very similar. Not sure how they'd compare size-wise, though.
  8. Should be able to get it as touch-up paint from a GM dealer, or from Car Quest. Other than that, waiting for Scale Finishes to reopen is the only surefire way to get it.
  9. Still looks more blue than gray to me. That's the color I am trying to duplicate, though.
  10. The MPC Flip Nose interior tub will slot right into the AMT Trophy Series cab- great way to hide the weird way AMT did the inner door panels (molded inside the body shell), and will also do away with the gap at the firewall visible when you peek into one of the side windows. Of course that won't help if you want to build it factory stock, but reworking the MPC tub's inner door panels to look more like the stock Ford panels wouldn't be too hard.
  11. Eh... might want to toss that tarp back on, I'm already seeing some surface rust forming.
  12. They are pretty close in size, the G1000 being just a tad smaller in most dimensions. A few inches here and there mostly. I might go the big-scale route too, the local Agco retailer can usually order the 1:16 Ertl stuff.
  13. Same thing I do, except I have a couple of those strap wrenches I use instead of pliers. One on the bottle and one on the cap- they provide enough leverage to loosen the cap with practically no force.
  14. Never been to Jackson- is the traffic as horrid as it is in Lansing? If not, I might try heading down there.
  15. Farily typical AMT '60's annual kit- one-piece chassis with the suspension and exhaust molded in, 'tub' style interior, headlight lenses molded in with the grille, and so on. That being said, the body and interior look good, the engine is pretty nice, and it builds up into a pretty good looking model.
  16. Not going for quantity Rob- just seeking out a few more six-banger nutjobs like myself.
  17. Yes, it is startlingly accurate for a pressed-steel model. Whoever designed that one wanted it to be recognizable. Really nice job on the resto- that paint scheme just looks perfect on it!
  18. I'd have to agree- the Porsche 356 Carrera in particular is one of the best-engineered kits I've ever seen. How does a 1:24 scale engine with crank and piston detail grab ya? And more than enough optional parts to keep you occupied for a while.
  19. Very cool! Wish the built-ups I managed to find were that cleanly built in the first place.
  20. One of you guys who dabbles in aircraft might know- any paint out there which duplicates the pale blue color on an Allison aircraft V-12? Nothing in my stash even comes close, and I'd prefer not to have to custom-mix something if I don't need to.
  21. Great model! The back end on these cars always reminded me of a spaceship from Star Wars.
  22. That engine was meant to be a Christmas ornament? I'm shopping at the wrong stores....
  23. I'm planning on getting a '52 drop top pretty shortly.
