  1. I don't know- I kind of like the contrast of the gold and raw cast iron look you have on your engine- I'd leave it as is. But that's just me. Besides- that engine is restored to new specs- who knows how long it might have taken the gold paint to start flaking off the gearbox?
  2. You're both 100% right, but consider that in the case of a 300 to Ranchero kit, you'd need a body, pretty much an entirely new interior (side panels, rear bulkhead, and floor at the very least) and possibly a different chassis. And a new rear window. In the case of the Mustangs and '57s they all shared identical interiors, chassis, glass pieces, etc. Revell theoretically could do a Ranchero, but they'd need to tool up quite a few more subject-specific pieces to pull it off than they did on those two kits. I'm kind of curious to see the actual kit contents on the 300 to see how the sprues are laid out- if the interior side panels are on a separate sprue from the dash, etc., that might be an indicator Revell is at least considering other variants on the tooling. (I think its a safe bet to assume they are, given Revell's recent track record.)
  3. No engine shots, but I do recall this being a four banger.... Yes, that's the rare (and much maligned) old Monogram kit, and no, I don't have any regrets about actually building it. I've got a Chevy II four banger I'm working on at the moment (made from a cut-down Trumpeter Nova six) when that one is done, you'll see it here first.
  4. I love it as well. One tip- keep in mind for future builds, foil the trim pieces molded to the glass on the windsheild and back window. It's a minor touch, but it does make a difference.
  5. Weight is the same. Mass? That's what gets ya.
  6. A mere sampling of many...
  7. The Jesse James bike may not be the most original, but the PJD bike just does not work for me, from a styling POV. Plain and simple. I'd rather stick with a tried-and-true design that actually looks good rather than one that tries to be groundbreaking but just looks terrible. The OCC bike is just a joke.
  8. A light wash with a slightly darker red helps, too.
  9. In high school a guy had a junked out Beretta with a killer stereo- basically the entire trunk was filled with 12" subs. Best part was the old gym sock stuffed in between the trunk's inner bracing and outer sheetmetal skin to prevent the decklid from buzzing. Said the system was about two grand- the car couldn't have been much more than $200 as scrap.
  10. Get with Dave (Cargostar). He should be able to fix you up.
  11. There is more than one Prius forum? That's got to be worse than 4chan.
  12. If the body 'hugs' the lid tightly enough, you usually don't even need tape. I have had a few fall off- never fun, so whenever I'm in doubt about the stability of the body on my makeshift stand, out comes the tape.
  13. I'd have to agree with your verdict. Senior isn't even trying anymore, and Junior often doesn't know when to quit with the 'theme'. I do think none of them would have gotten anywhere without Discovery Channel, but even so, James is a pretty good builder, and his bike was a pretty good example of what he's capable of. I just wonder why he cheated on Sandra Bullock with Frankenstien...
  14. Or an updated version of the car in your pic. Might get two of these- one to build as a replica of the Fish street machine, the other to build as a period custom.
  15. Very well, DOH Hornet it is! On a serious note though, I think it would be VERY cool to build a NASCAR Hornet loaded with some of Smokey's infamous 'creative reading of the rulebook' built into it. Widened rear quarters, hidden airfoils, etc. Great- now there's another Hornet I have to build!
  16. Jeff Ballard at Motor City Resin casters is working on a couple of '54s, but they might be a little ways off.
  17. I'm a little suprised nobody's done a Doc Hudson yet ( I HAVE seen the decal sets...) if for no other reason than to troll Danno to the point he hates Doc Hudson models just as much as (if not more than) General Lee models.
  18. Marshall Teague, perhaps? Or possibly Herb Thomas. They were the only two who drove the cars in that livery.
  19. A Chuck Most paint stand is highly elaborate- it is an old can of junk dollar store spray paint with the lid still snapped on. Slip the body over the cap and you have a makeshift 'turntable' style spraying stand. I do like this Donn Yost stand better, at least in concept, and am thinking of giving it a go, though.
  20. Seems like it would be VERY difficult to pour 1:1 40 weight into a 1:25 scale oil fill, even with the aid of a funnel!
  21. Count on it. As soon as I get past the 'just piddling with it' stage.
  22. And who will let a caster borrow it? Got to be somebody!
