At this point its probably moot anyhow... Round 2 clearly owns them now! But I have to echo what Joe said... having the AMT, MPC, and PL brands back in control of people who actually care about the hobby? Fantastic. I was hoping this is how it would turn out back in '08 when the lease agreement began. Looking like the next few years will be VERY GOOD for car modelers, spate of all-new tooling or not.

Haven't set foot in a Walmart in about five years- hoping its at least that many years more before I do again. If ever. Luckily- my closest shop always tried to meet (or undercut, if possible) Walmart's prices on kits, and he still has some very good prices, even compared to online vendors. Consider the fact I don't need to pay shipping, and it's on the way to/from other businesses and people I see frequently anyway, guess where I go?

You see quite a few SUVs (and Minivans) in the parking lot and in the infield of most NASCAR events, so anything's possible.

Why not? That Jolly Roger kit can be the base to a halfway decent early '20's Olds hot rod. Granted, you'd need to bring your own body, but that is half the fun.

I've actually seen a similar build to that- this one has more replica style markings on it though. The name of the kit/TV show it is from escapes me a the moment. Very cool.

Velcome aboard, Casey! I'd leave that body just the way it is and stuff all the go-fast stuff in it. In the first pic, the hood almost looks bare steel.

The rear window seems to fit best if you slide the bottom edge of the rear window into place, then kind of push up and seat the top edge into the frame. That seems to help it fit best, though you might still need to cut the side windows separate. First one of these I built it took me a while to figure out what I was doing!

Bradley- I've got the same 'problem', and now that I'm getting into more detail and better build quality (well, for me at least) it's starting to take a while! That's why I think I'll kick this build off by throwing together the '10 GT convert. Not box stock, I do plan to change out the rolling stock and detail it a little, but it'll pretty much just be a 'bang it out and call it a day' kind of project. I might even leave it in the molded color- just sand off the mold lines and polish the plastic. Then I'll think about my glue '10 GT. Or the '08 Bullit, or one of the '07 Shelby GT500s I just KNOW I've got laying around here somewhere...

Separate rotor/caliper castings for a snapper? Haven't seen that in a while! Separate hood is a huge bonus, and I actually like having the front and rear facias molded to the body. Already plotting out how to meld this body with the glue kit chassis. Is the taillamp unit molded red or painted red? I ask because the backup lamps on the '10's are pretty prominent, and if they're molded red silver paint is about the only way to add the backup lamps, and to me that just never looks right.

I THINK AFX slot cars was already owned by Round 2. Not sure on that, they did own Xtraction, but I'm only about 50% sure of them owning Round 2 before they bought out AMT/MPC/PL.

Score! I've built all of those '70's kits (as well as the '50 Chevy 3100 and Electra), and they're beauties when done up right.

Those black valve covers were actually stock. Which is fine with me- I think they look way better than chrome.

That's true, but that was under the ownership of RC2, which had quite a few different brands (ie- revenue streams) under its belt. I'm pretty sure Round 2 will bring out new product on its own, just saying, I'm not holding my breath for it to come anytime in the NEAR future. Of course, I would love to be proven wrong on that.

He also has a dvd avaialble through his own website, http://www.thefunnycarfarm.com/ Really like the DVD- he even shows off a few of the AWB models he's built. My only gripe is the DVD isn't divided up, it's all one big 'chapter', so you can't just skip to any particular part without holding the FF button down.

I don't think it means more new releases. I think (and this is pure speculation on my part) they'll follow a practice much like Revell of late- that is, selling existing kits with new parts, or continuing restoring earlier kits (such as the '25 T) back to original or close to original form. Yes, new kits will appear (and already are in the cards) but don't count on a flurry of activity from Round 2 as far as all-new kits go, at least not right off the bat.

Okay, gotcha. I seem to remember reading RC was interested in the model kit manufacturing facilities for injection-molding the plastic parts on their diecasts. As a result they prettty much swept the hobby kits under the carpet.
