I've posted this model a few times before, but it has recently undergone a few changes. It started out as a Monogram F350 chassis and an MPC '53 Ford cab, and just snowballed from there. Here's how it looked upon completion in 2010. About a year later, it was damaged on the way back from a show, so a few repairs were in order, and I decided to make a few changes while I was at it. I added a sling to the wrecker, changed the air filter, and front wheels/tires. I also airbrushed on some wide whites for the rear tires. And that's how it stayed until 2017. The 2017 refresh was pretty tame- I added some cab lights and turn signals from an AMT big rig kit, and I changed out the air cleaner once again, raiding one from a Moebius Comet this time. Some time ago the hood ornament was knocked off, and rather than replace it, I opted to replace the entire grille with a resin Hudson Terraplane piece. I also redid the interior, replaced the glass, and channeled a little more out of the back of the cab so the cab would sit level. Maybe it'll finally stay one way or maybe it'll get totally rebuilt one day, who knows. I call this my "George Lucas" model, because much like he did with the original Star Wars trilogy, I'm constantly going back and changing things whether I should or not.

This is a mix of parts from the Revell '66 Suburban, the MPC '84 GMC, and a few other doodads to create a Mad Max style cruiser. The kit engine was treated to a supercharger from a '30 Model A with the GMC kit's headers, and a scratch built front end. The gun is from a Mega Bloks Halo vehicle kit.

Those guys are still around- they've traded in the open button-up shirts for tank tops and the Levi's for sweat pants, but they're still around. -

"Hi, I'm your creepy mustachioed bachelor uncle." -
I have only noticed the problem when I try to post a new thread in the light trucks Under Glass section. I just posted in Under Glass and Drag Racing with no issues.

This is more or less a hodge-podge of components from every version of the Revell '57 Ford kits, plus a 392 Hemi and a mesh grille. I originally started this back before the gasser version came out.... before the wagon version came out, even. Originally I had the 57 Custom body with the straight axle components from a Monogram '55 Chevrolet. After a bad reaction with the paint it was shelved and started back up when the wagon variant came back out. I'm not sure where I came up with the idea for a ratty hemi-powered, gasser-themed cop car in the first place, but apparently I found the idea amusing enough to stick with it through all the changes in direction the project took.

The idea here was an old drag car that was stashed away and recently unearthed. It has a scratchbuilt Hudson two-piece head, header, roll bar, and a modified AMT tow bar. Many of the drag specific parts are from the '65 Comet, with rear coil over shocks from a Thunderbolt.

Scout Parts

The Travelall looks good, so would a D-series pickup. (Cough, cough ) I'll definitely be good for some Scout parts as well. -

Keith Marks sells a sheet with the Bicentennial graphics which comes with gauge decals- -
Thanks for the heads up. I don't plan to go whole hog, just make something that appears more stock externally. That engine bay might come in handy- quite a few '60's and '70's FoMoCo kits have (shall we say) compromised engine compartment detail.

Thanks guys! Not sure why I didn't just check Kevin's site to begin with- a flat Comet hood seems like the kind of thing he'd have in his product line.
-
Just a question- and sorry if I missed it in the flurry of info on this thread- but did anyone ever do a flat hood for the Comet version of the kit? I know Bandit Resins has a grabber hood for the Maverick but I don't recall seeing a replacement hood for the Comet. I plan to build my Comet ('90's Pro Street issue) a bit closer to stock and losing the giant scoop and hole in the hood is an absolute must. It looks like the rear wheel openings are also radiused a tad, but I think that I can live with.

I was trying to refrain from using the hyphenated B-word. -

Think it looks bad now? Most of them will end up fitted with plastic flares (with fake fasteners), clown-car tires and wheels (with fake bead locks), and a 50,000 watt LED light bar across the grille. -

Updated with a fresh "facelift" pic. The '53 also went under the knife again last weekend. Post to come when that nasty 404 error is fixed. -
I had a similar problem earlier in the Light Commercial Under Glass section. Fortunately the forum saved the text so I copied it to a Word document and it's ready to go for the next attempt.

The idea for this was a car with some of the traditional mild custom touches, but with some 21st century updates. The wheels and tires came from the AMT '62 Thunderbird and are fitted to a modified suspension. A 2014 Mustang GT coughed up it's 5.0 engine and six speed manual, along with it's dashboard, center console, steering wheel and seats. I made an intercooler-like open element air filter which is fed by the molded hood scoop, which is fitted with matching mesh to the grille. The frenched headlights came from the Foose Cadillac, and the car was painted with Testors Lime Ice and Mystic Emerald. I'll let you decide if I ripped off the name from the 1988 Antonio Climati movie (aka Cannibal Holocaust 2) or the 2013 Eli Roth movie.

You can't go wrong with Jerry. I've bought more truck decals from him than anyplace else.

Years ago I bought the AMT Autocar dump from TL Model Trucks, and it just sat around untouched until a few weeks ago. I wanted to finish the 9964 before Round 2 decided to reissue it. Rather than a dump truck, I opted to do it as a tractor. I cut about a scale foot and a half out of the wheelbase, and added a deck plate, fifth wheel, and some fenders, the latter of which were nabbed from an MPC Mack DM 600. I converted the engine to an NTC with the spare parts supplied in the box and an air intake borrowed from a White Western Star, and sprayed it in "remanufactured red". I also may have gotten the position of the oil filter and power steering reservoir mixed up but that's an easy enough fix. I also used the way out-of-scale kit supplied mirror frames. If I do another one of these I might make my own. I also added a radiator cap and used the Autocar radiator emblem decal from the A64B reissue. This is a kit I'd love to see come back- my favorite A-cars have pit fenders and spoke wheels.

This kit is like the ultimate blank canvas. It blows my mind that Ertl pulled out all the stops on their International heavy truck kits, then phoned it in for the Scout II kits. The body isn't bad other than some missing panel gaps, the missing hood peak, and the curved front edge of the hood and grille. Years ago I built one with a detailed engine bay and corrected body- one of these days I'll have to take some new photos. I've always wondered about cutting away the molded chassis to make it separate- nice to see someone do something other than wonder about it!
-
Love them both! There's a guy near me who has a Beat, it stands out even in it's rather bland silver paint.

I'm not usually a fan of LS swaps, but it's a clean and tastefully done car, and I love that intake setup, so I can live with it here.
