  1. Some cool Choices so far. Riley when your sure of your choice let me know in here please!
  2. It has both 4WD and 2WD parts but is meant to be a 2WD and doesn't mention the 4WD parts in the instructions. Don't feel like digging mine out right now. Nick
  3. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83124 I jumped the gun a bit, but 2014 Cannonball topic is up, I'll lock this one and we can continue this over there, again thank you everyone for your participation and Patience. Nick
  4. Well folks, it's that time of year again. The 2013 CBP has just wrapped up and we had a record number of racers at the finish line this year. We had 21 entrants and 23 finished entries. This year after deliberating with our previous hosts, we came up with the decision to do a Themed build this year. The Theme this year is "The Last Cannonball, 1979" No, this won't be our last, and it wasn't Brock Yates last, it was the last Sea to Shining Sea memorial cup dash, basically meaning a cross country point A to B type race. After that the race was the "Cannonball One Lap of America" race in which the race became more of a Rally. So, this year all entries must be of 1979 and earlier subjects. HOWEVER this time we won't be limited the parts used on the racer to this year, so feel free to use those modern drivetrains and rolling stock. As with every year, Official start date will be January 1st 2014, and the end date will be December 1st 2014. "I'd like to welcome you all to an event that's sometimes been called the Automotive counterpart to the Bay of Pigs." "You are certainly the most distinguished group of highway scofflaws and degenerates ever gathered together in one place" "Of course you know certain skeptics note that perhaps 10,000 of the nation's most elite highway patrolmen are out there waiting for us after we start, but let's stay positively: Think of the fact that there's not one state in the 50 that has the death penalty for speeding... although I'm not so sure about Ohio." Now before we get going we need to remember that your vehicle will have to follow a few guidelines. Remember we are racing on City, County, and State Roads and Streets, so we need to be "Street Legal" Now the Rules Rules: 1.) First rule, as per Rob (Jantrix), this is all about having fun. 2.) You must show a picture of the kit, collection of parts, or re-builder that you are starting with. If it is possible try to post at least 1 update per month even if it just says "I haven't finished any work, but I'm still here..." 3.) On December 1, 2014 I will start a new thread in the "Under Glass" section for everyone to post their finished entry's, you must post their to be included in the voting. 4.) Multiple entries are allowed. So guys Have Fun and we'll see you in Redondo Beach! Entries: 1.) Nick Winter-? 2.) maltsr-'67 Corvette Roadster 3.) Jordan White-1973 Mercury Cougar 4.) 8. Thank you Rob! I appreciate your guidance and assistance in making this year a success and in Making next year Even bigger and better. So far this year plan is to let the poll Run till Sunday December 22nd, then I'll sift through and find the winner, make the final congratulatory post in this topic of said winner. Then on the 24th (yes Christmas eve,) I will start the topic for the 2014 Run and announce our theme or style. As with Every year January 1st 2014 will be the Start! I want to thank everyone for their continued support and help to make this year one of the best Cannonball's in History, I look forward to the trash talk and idea's for 2014! Nick
  9. My F8 Green car still had Wheel well, and Rad blackouts. Just thought I would mention that, When I started cleaning the underside, I found body color overspray on the outside of the rear frame rails and almost to the Transmission tunnel, As the others have Said, it almost depends on each car it's self because no two line workers did their jobs exactly the same or uniform. Nick
  10. Group 5 Group 6
  11. Group 3 Group 4
  12. Group 1 Group 2
  13. Okay, Choose Only one car, and choose The None of the above option for all other category's. Thanks you. Nick
  14. Bought my dad a new 10 gallon Shop Vac, it's what he wanted, already got everyone else's gifts wrapped, trying to figure out how to wrap this one. Nick
  15. As Rob Mentioned there will be a '14 Cannonball Run, we are in the process of throwing some idea's around, watch for the Topic!.
  16. That was on purpose, trying to figure out a better way to group things or another way of doing it................The forums Poll options really leaves quite a bit to be desired. Nick
  17. Speaking of which, I sense a group PM coming on...........
  18. If that's okay I wouldn't mind it. Nick
  19. Thanks guys, to me, it's a lot of fun to participate and organize, Hopefully we see you again next year (not that I have any doubts )
  20. I appreciate the Comments, I still have a Duster and Challenger to build for the same friend, He only knows about the Challenger, the Vette and Duster are surprises! Rough is a good way to describe this kit. The hood sort of fits like I came from another kit. It helped immensely
  21. Few more, and yes I know the back plate is crooked and that the hood doesn't sit right, I tried for the life of me to get that hood straight but thats as good as it got. I also know the 1:1 car has a single system with a Y and then faux duals, but soon it will have a system as modeled. The windshield is a bit of a mess, but it's not actually intended for this car and thats as good as it got. Nick
  22. Built for a friend, Sort of an early christmas gift, his 1:1 is original other than paint and bumper covers which he had redone shortly after he purchased the car, they were in dire need of replacement and the paint was shot. Any way some history, lowest horsepower V8 Corvette weighing in at 175 Gross Horsepower, first year for HEI Distributors on Vette's, First year for Cat con's on Vette's, and first year for the Electric Tach, also the only year for Corvette Bright Green with a whopping 1664 cars built in that color for all of North America. It's a fun car, not super stupid fast, but it doesn't need to be, it is quick, and if you get on the throttle it does go...........and you can hear the quadrajet open the secondaries and try to suck the hood down it. So, I did what I had to too end up with it as close as possible, the paint is the real deal, I went and saw the bodyman who painted the 1:1 because he had paint leftover, I will admit mistakes I made, it was my first time using a automotive paint that I required a reducer. Same goes for the clear, first time using it and I think I know what I did wrong with both (still have 2 models to build for my friend of other toys he has/ had) Don't like it, don't comment. Nick
  23. My kit unfortunately has Iffy Chrome with lots of flash and a badly curled decal sheet.....................
  24. I attend pretty much (some exceptions due to scheduling conflicts) every show/contest thats within reason to being close to me, I don't build specifically for shows, I don't go in intending to win anything, It's as my friend Danger put it, a way to showcase what I have been up to. I never show the same model more than once. Biggest reasons I attend, The VENDORS that and shooting the breeze with my friends and frequent acquaintances, Sometimes I don't get to chat with some people very often and really only run into them at shows/contests.
  25. My T-Bird is still on my Bench, but at the moment it's collecting idea's and dust. I will get back to it! Nick
