Okay boy's and girls. Today I invested in four separate 1/24 scale display cases purchased at local Hobby Town for nine dollars + change. What's the best way to clean off the dust on the models? I've found that baby-wipes work great on die-cast, but how will it effect plastic model kit's painted with enamel's? Can I use the same method as I do on my die-cast's?

Thank's, anybody else?

I've once used an old black T-shirt as a headliner, could also be used as convertible top.

I like manuals. Only time I find them useless is in rush hour traffic when your never sure what gear you'll be in and sometimes you wonder if you'll ever see 3rd gear! Automatics I think are a must for people who live in highly congested areas with stop/go traffic. Other than that, manual's are best! -
Hello there people. How's the progress going? Is the "race" still on or have we all crashed? Please post pic's! "We are still in pursuit of the red Lamborghini and we will be in pursuit till we catch it." BTW, that's black Lamborghini, not red. Red Lamborghini was in the second movie. "If I tell you boy's something you won't think I've been drinking will yea? The red Lamborghini's vanished, but there's a white one behind me honking it's horn! Correction, it's passed me and it's got two great looking chick's in it!"

I believe if your good with electronics/mechanics, nothing beats a car-security system than your own home made unit. Most thieves, really good professionals, like Memphis Rayms, can figure out most common security systems. But, if yours is home made, sound-proof, and only YOU know how to start it, that's the best there is. -

One reason I don't believe in those remote-starters. If somebody was watching your car, and you remotely started it, he/she could instantly steal your car. I wouldn't want remote-start on my car. Maybe just the cool push-button starter though on the dash! But certainly not remote-start, that's just asking for it IMO. -
I could never get black that good. Then again, I don't polish and buff my cars either. Very sweet! Nice wheels, nice detail, super silky smooth paint job!

Motorhome by Neoplan Cityliner
FujimiLover replied to Dingo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I've had the thought of building one of these as a motor home with an Ipod Video inside built-up to look like a flat-screen tv. Just take the gut's out of the Ipod's aluminum case, and scratch-build your own TV housing. You could rewire the Ipod's charging plug to the bottom of the rig and keep the Ipod playing. I don't have one of these models yet, nor am I sure where to build it as it takes a lot of room. Plus, I'd need to find an Ipod Video cheap enough that I can experiment with. Not about to risk my 160GB model! Nice job so far man, I like the interior conversion and the computers. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth these day's, who says you need to "wire" it all together? -

I was talking about a car that was in that list of "50" cars he had to steal. Or was that the one where Tumbler, Kip, and the other guy stole in that neighborhood and the blond kid got shot? I don't remember if that was a Cherokee or not. -

Also remember, that the older cars are much easier for those thieves to steal than the newer cars. As I said, most newer cars have chips or special key's that are required to start. Older cars, are just easier and that's what they want. They go for what's easy. -
Thank you Dave, but I like to use something that's available in rattle-form. I doubt Future is. One more thing, is it the dust that eat's up the tires, or just the dry climate? Although it hasn't really been dry this year, we are typically a dry climate. A lot of my tires tend to crack over time. Would the display cases help prevent that?

Hello there. I'm wondering what's the best way of cleaning the dust off my models? I've got four KS models that are sitting pretty on little shelves, and they look great on display. however, they are collecting dust. What is the best way for cleaning the dust off them? I have previously rinsed them in water, but that sometimes would soften up the decals that havn't been clear-coated, and would leave water spot's when the water dries. I've thought about an air compressor, but that will really rip the unprotected decals right off. I have a solution for die-cast models, but I don't think it'll work the same on my plastic models. How do you guy's clean them? I know, I know, I need to invest in some display cases to keep the dust off! I might look into that this week. But mean time, what's the best way to clean it? I've already noticed on of my KS window banners coming apart. In future builds, can I clear coat over the window to protect the window-banner decal?

I haven't noticed if my KS 500 SL has yellowed yet. I'll have a look'n'see. I used Tamiya paint for the white, and I can't remember what I used on the clear. -

A lot of older cars had that big thick wing-nut looking ignition on the steering column that could be turned with just your hands. My have times have changed! A lot of cars these day's have a chip in the key much like the Mercedes in "Gone in 60 Seconds". The chip is the only thing that will allow the ignition to be turned and start the car. This chip unfortunately makes it much harder to get the key duplicated at your local key-store. I tried getting the key for my 2001 Honda Insight duplicated and the local key-spert couldn't do it. He said I had to get a new one from the Honda dealer. Only car I had stolen from me was my 88 CRX SI! However, I was fortunate enough to get it back the same day with nothing harmed but the steering column. Got a Clifford alarm system, and no problems since! -
Nice repaint! What white, clear coat did you use on that? I agree with the above statement, put the other wheels on it!

I was reading news-bits on AOL and saw that they had a list of most stolen cars in America. http://www.walletpop.com/insurance/car-ins...hicles-by-state Here are the top ten. 1. 1994 Honda Accord 2. 1995 Honda Civic 3. 1989 Toyota Camry 4. 1997 Ford F-150 Pickup 5. 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup 6. 2000 Dodge Caravan 7. 1996 Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee 8. 1994 Acura Integra 9. 1999 Ford Taurus 10. 2002 Ford Explorer I've noticed that in there state-by-state listings, it all pretty much seems to be the same car, but in mixed order. I sure am glad my car's not on that list! Funny, I don't recall seeing any one of these in Gone in 60 Seconds! LOL!

Best Pearl White
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll have to see if I can dig it out of my paint supply but I did try one pearl white and it looked to flat and dull to me. No real shine, gloss, or pearl finish. -
Aoshima 20" BBS LM wheel and tire set
FujimiLover replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I like the Aoshima's much better. Can you take pic's of the back of those wheels? I'm curious as to how they mount. Are they peg's, or poly-caps? Thank's! -
Detailing over gold-plated parts
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Where would I find that paint and how durable is it? I need to make the clear coat as tough as possible. I'm not really trying to race with this body, but I would like it at least durable enough that I can drive it around the track a few times. and I don't want the gold plating to flake off either. I'm considering having the work done by ChromeTechUsa. Has anybody delt with this company before? They specialize in chrome-plating model car pieces, and die-cast models.
