Real or Model #103 FINISHED!
FujimiLover replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Okay guy's, this is a Mclaren F1 GTR street-legal racing car. Whom ever suggested it was a Saleen is WAY WAY WAY off. First off, the Mclaren is the only car I know of that has three seats configured like this. Plus, it's much shorter than the Saleen. The Saleen is a very long car. Remember Jim Carry's Bruce Almighty? Remember when he received god's powers and changed his damaged Datson 280Z for a super car? That was the Saleen. I'm going to go with a model this time, and I'll say it's another one of Kyosho's 1/18 scale jobs. Could also be AutoArt as they are just as good at making those little details. Either case, it's another 1/18 scale model. -
Any progress is note worthy in this build-off. I just like to see this thread progressing. Thank's for responding!
-
Hey guy's! Did this build-off die-off with the racers? Anybody have any updates to their projects? Please, let's keep this thread alive! After all, this is a tribute to those actors/actresses who have given us so much entertainment! Keep it coming fellas!

Pimp My Ride,

Their insurance coverage should be pimped as well! LOL! Maybe our friendly little green lizard should have a pimped out ride and advertise on the show! LOL! -

I know, I've done the same thing when I owned an 88 CRXSI. I never got any of it back when I traded it in for the Insight. It was such a waist of money cash wise, but I learned an awful lot from that car. Unfortunately, my new Insight is not as easy to work on as those CRX's were back in the day. Harry, I hear exactly what you are saying it is a lot of advertisement. Let's not forget our beloved movie Transformers. Great entertainment, but was a load of ad's for Apple and GM. In both cases, the producers are smart enough to advertise in a more entertaining way than say those lousy info-mercials. You know, I've always wondered with all the shop-at-home networks, why don't they just throw all TV ad's there instead of bugging us people who actually want to watch the show. Those people that enjoy "shopping at home" can enjoy the ads as thats what their watching most of the time anyway. I've made my point at the beginning of this thread and I'm not hear to argue with anybody. It's all great entertainment no matter how you look at. Weather it is a big advertisement for companies, or putting ridiculous wheels on a silly little car. However you wish to put it, the point is, we remember it and that's what THEY THE PRODUCERS WANT! -

LOL! Of coarse not Harry, we just think it's great entertainment. No matter how you look at it, it's still ridiculous to put so much money into a car that's not worth the efforts. If I personally had the money to upgrade a car to that degree, I might as well just buy a better car and be done with it. I very rarely believe in anything I see on TV. Reality show's? Reality my butt! Maybe reality-based, but certainly isn't real world. I'd like to go back to Unique Wips, much more realistic than PMR. At least with U.W., your dealing with a real shop, real "tech's," and real cars that are worth the money and efforts. I'm sure even some of that is scripted as well. Anything seen on tv is scripted including the news! About the only thing real on TV would be Sherif John Benell's "World's Wildest Police Video's". THAT is entertainment! -

Yea, I have no idea who's doing it now. Now Speed Channel has taken over and it's funny cause whenever the "customer" sais, "Please, MTV, pimp my ride!" Speed Channel blank's out MTV part. So it's now, "Please..............pimp my ride!" We all know the show originated on MTV, who are they trying to kid? Granted it's copy-right stuff, but still. Can't Speed Channel make up their own show? I hate to say this, but ever since Speed Vision changed to Speed Channel, they went down hill and I'm not as excited to watch that channel as I used to be back in the day's. -
Pimp My Ride,
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I meant nothing by it at all. My only comment was how they put wheels on a car that are worth way more than the car its self. I've had a few cars too where I wish were pimped out, but if I handed theme my key's, I had no option's as to how I wanted it done. I think that is one downside to these shows. It's up to the shop how to build up the car, not to the owner. I doubt any owner had the opportunity to say, "I don't like this color, or I don't want that put in." I think it's awesome to see what they can do to a car, especially the rare and unusual ones that you'd never THINK of pimping! I also feel very happy for those lucky people who get their daily-drivers fixed up as you said, that is their only mode of transportation and they deserve to get it "pimped". All those shows are great to watch in deed, some are just more fun than others. The episodes that really touch me are the ones where they can't fix up the current car and actually purchase a brand spanking new car for the deserving person. Next time, I'll use the term "clunker" rather than POS. Okay? Cool? Good. -
Pimp My Ride,
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think Trick my Truck is much better show than Pimp My Ride. Two thing's I like most about PMR is the host Xzibit when he was hosting the show, loved it when he cracked jokes about the car, also his knowledge of cars is pretty good too. Unless of coarse he's just going by what writers tell him. Second thing I enjoy is watching the expressions on the people first when Xzibit shows up at their doors, and then when they see their car remade. I don't think I've seen any other season's without Xzibit. I think the better show is Unique Whips as that is real world customers with real world exotic cars and SEMA events et'c. That's the kind of job I wouldn't mind having had I had the skills growing up. I just over all think it's ridiculous to put five grand's worth of rims on a 2 dollar clunker. As for the engines, I have seen theme occasionally repair if needed, dress up certainly. I've never seen theme actually replace an engine/tranny. Plus, I never see theme lower the car! They do all this neat stuff to it, and it look's horrible because it's a stock ride-hight! Fender gap is ugly! The coolest car they have ever done was the Silver Surfer episode where they took an 89 Honda CRX, gave it the multi-piece Black Widow kit, and chromed it. That was awesome! I've often wondered how my 2001 Honda Insight would look chromed! However, they didn't lower it, and that's one thing they seem to forget doing. I think Xzibit's personality is what made the show. That and WCC's crew. I also wonder how many of these people have insurance when their car is so much a POS, and I wonder how many get stolen after the show! -
Anybody watch the show Pimp My Ride? When is a car worth keeping when they pimp it up to the point where the wheels and/or stereo equipment is worth ten times fold what the car is worth? Why not just get him a new car to start with? A few episodes where the car is really a "POS", Xzibit actually has gone past the call of duty and bought brand new cars for the deserving people. But really, when is it worth buying 5,000 dollar set of wheels on a 500 dollar clunker? LOL! Sorry, but that just makes me laugh! Anybody else have any thoughts?

Who was the actor that played Raymond Koleechy? Or however his last name was, AKA the "Carpenter"? Just saw J.I.Joe last night and he was in that movie as well.

Real or Model #102 FINISHED!
FujimiLover replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
You have all weekend to pick a harder one there harry! Good luck next week! -
I know it's not a model car, well it is, but it's an RC car and it answers the question of what I got today! My second 1/43 scale Dnano RC car arrived. I got the white Subaru WRX "WRC" model and I love it. It is RM configuration, and narrow wheel base. I hope that some day soon Kyosho will make an AWD version of the Dnano and we can put the WRX on the proper chassis! Still, the body is super nice and just as high class as any really good die-cast model of same scale. Enough of my rambling, time for some pictures. A shot of the two chassis together, one RM, and one MM. And just for fun, a picture of it next to my Eflite MCX helicopter. These Dnano's are super amazing little cars. Nothing toy about theme at all, very high-end hobby-grade RC cars and very fast! These little babies need a lot of room to gallop! Anyway, that's what I got today!

Do you ever get the feeling?
FujimiLover replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I try to go to all the new posts and respond to people's builds and showcase. It's hard to reach everyone on this forum and nobody should feel left out. I occasionally feel like I'm talking to my self when I post pic's of my builds but that's okay too. It's hard to reach everyone in these forums. I hope he sticks with us and continues posting his builds, but I'll understand if he chooses not too. -
Kick me out if I shouldn't be posting these

Okay, question is this. What kind of car would Sub Zero drive? Anyone? -
Another Casualty Of The Economy
FujimiLover replied to 93Z34's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Let's also not forget the cost of gas to drive to your hobby shop depending on how far away you are from the store. The two best ones I like to go to are much further down town, almost an hour's drive from where I live. Not exactly, but it sure feels like it anyway from up in the Black Forest which is east of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, to down south Colorado Springs "DOWNTOWN" it can take half the day just to get what you want. While I miss the old time hobby stores of going in and seeing first hand your items before you buy, internet shopping is much more relaxing. Especially when you don't have to deal with the jerks that are on the roads these days. Everything is done on-line these day's. We're now even starting to see ordering your favorite Pizza Hut on-line and pretty soon you'll be doing grocery shopping on line as well. Hmmm, scratch'n'sniff computer screens? -

Real or Model #102 FINISHED!
FujimiLover replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Can I say both and neither? That way I won't be wrong! LOL! I wouldn't judge by shadows as light source and other surroundings can throw that off. It look's like a very real racing car and I'm going to have to vote for real this time. The hole front section look's typical of drag-cars. -
Another Casualty Of The Economy
FujimiLover replied to 93Z34's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd like to add something to this economy thing. I'm sure money is tight, no doubt about that. But I feel the internet has partial blame in "our" local hobby stores closing down. It's just too easy to go on-line and find all the rare and special goodies, and even plain old every day goodies as well. It's much nicer to wait at home for a while and receive packages in the mail and open theme. Oh sure, I'd much rather enjoy going to a greatly stocked hobby shop and feel the items my self before purchasing theme, but internet is much easier and really is the LARGEST hobby shop in the world. There isn't anything you can't find on-line compared to local stores. For me, I've never had any really awesome local hobby stores. My best hobby store experience has been on trips to Europe during high-school spring-brakes and visiting the hobby shops in Paris, London, Switzerland, etc'. I do love our local Complete Games and Hobbies hobby shop, but it is too far and out of the way to drive there weekly. I still think the internet has a lot to do with hobby stores closing down cause nobody comes to the store anymore. Especially when gas-prices rise up! That's just my two pennies. -

If the mirror is at a certain angle, it will reflect darker images thus appearing NOT to be shiny and reflective. It look's to me like it's pointing towards the inside of the car which will be darker than outside. I'm still saying this one is real. -
Internet Store
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hmmmm, 52 viewers and no replies. I guess that means nobody has shopped from this store yet? Okay!
