Real or Model #98 FINISHED!
FujimiLover replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Except for the suspension work, it still look's like a model. And I agree, it reminds me of one of Jada's cars with their huge wheels and rubber band tires. Nice one there, I think you fooled 80% of us! LOL! Now try the picture I sent yea! -
So anybody working on any other cars from the movies? There are plenty of cars to choose from! Ferrari's, Porsche's, Austin Martin? Mad-Dog's truck? "Mad-Dog, you are going to take the short cut to the freeway ain't yea?" Mark Taylor, I just read your last bit there. I have the Fujimi Enthusiast model of the Koenig Specials Lamborghini Countach in 1/24 scale. But I am reserving that for my KS collection and it will not be used for the Cannonball Countach. It was purchased for exactly what it is, a KS Countach! I'd like to see more cars in the movies being made guy's, let's keep this build-off going! I'm excited to see the Countach line up, but let's have more variety!

Yes, I don't like resting the bodies on the boards anymore. After clear coating it, I discovered when picking it off the board, it left ugly silver marks on the bottom rear of the side skirts. Another disappointment with this body. Will have to wait till I can afford another kit, and hopefully when I can, they'll still be available. Luckily, this one is not as rare as the 928 was. Luckily also, the 928 was successful despite the missing mirror. Say, I wonder if the mirrors from the 911 would fit the 928? Hmmmmm, would have to give it a try since I still have both 911 mirrors, and since I'm planning on getting another 911 kit.

It's getting hotter in Texas!
FujimiLover replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same in Colorado, been crazy high 80's most of the day, but fortunately cools down and we get lot's of rain! Good for the grass, good for keeping the fires down. And, makes it comfortable for sleeping. Just during the day time, you want shorts and sandals and a hat! Fortunately, no high 90s or 100s unless your in Pueblo. We've got a snow-blower, but it ain't that big! And when it's light and easy snow, we have a snow plow attached to our John Deer tractor. But that just pushes the snow out of the way rather than chopping it up and throwing it 50 feet to the side. -
I use CA glue, and I use Model Masters Liquid Cement in their handy little black triangular bottles. Except, sometimes their bottles tend to leek at the bottom of the needle. Still, best glue I think.................

diorama stuff needed
FujimiLover replied to outlaw035's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm not exactly sure what kind of stuff your looking for for the beech, but here's what I did. Back in high school while taking art classes, "the only class I got A's and B's in", I built a table top car-show scene for one of my plastic models that I had way back then. It was actually one of Fujimi's 89 Honda CRX SI models. I wanted a trash can with trash in/out of it like what you'd see at a large out door car-show type event. So, I used the little black containers that roll's of film are stored for when you drop the roll's off to be developed. The container was the perfect size and look for a large trash can usually found at such events. Even the lid's looked right and worked well. I took pieces of paper, tinfoil, and other scraps of material and made my own 1/24 scale "trash". I had the trash can opened and filled with trash and the lid propped on the side of the can. For the scale of the model I was working with, it looked quit good! It was free, easy, and fun to do. If you can even find this type of film container, it might be just perfect for your beach scene. -
Yea I saw that bit and thought, well, isn't THAT Bumble Bee? What's up with the Camaro? Sheeesh.
-
If your talking about Smokescreen as in the red, white, and blue racing car. He was actually a Datson 280Z. Same car that Prowl and Silverstreak were. I don't think any Autobot from the original series was a Camero. As cheap as a Volkswagen Bug is to get these day's, I don't see why they couldn't use the Bug for Bumble Bee. Using the Camero for sake of advertisement was dumb. Now, back on topic!

1/18 scale Transkit
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Come on people, of all of us modelers here on line, has anyone worked with a transkit before of any type? -
I think you misunderstood me. It wasn't the decals that messed it up. It was probably me being impatient in the first place with applying the decals, and clear coating it before sanding it back down smoothly. The decals were fine. I was attempting to mask off the body so I can paint the flat black trim around the windows. My fingers had left nice fingerprints on the sides of the model where it's difficult to sand off. I also don't want to strip the paint off for fear of losing those decals. So, it's just best that I get another kit and redo the body like I did with the Testarossa Competition. We all know how well that one went! LOL! I love it! Got all four cars sitting on nice little individual shelves. Will post pics as soon as I charge up my camera. Will need three more shelves for my other three KS models. So, the decals were never an issue. Just the paint work and my fingers.

I'v seen a few listed on ebay, but have to wait till funds reach my account. I have not tried any of those methods for the same reason. I don't want to ruin the decals, but they have been clear coated. I'm just not happy with it so far, body wise. I'm also been more interested in those Autoscale bodies.
-
I think I'm going to get another kit some time soon and re-do the body. I started masking off the body to paint the window trim and I got deep finger prints into the paint. How can this happen after this body has sat so long and has had weeks to dry! ARRRRRRRRGGGG! NOT HAPPY! I wasn't happy with the dirt and dust on it in the first place, now I've got ugly finger prints! I can't sand it away, I can't strip the paint off cause I'll loose the decals I put on it. I'm mad cause it has a perfect chassis and interior, and I just need a perfect body! So, this project is still on hold till I get a replacement kit for it.

Hello there. You know I'm a big fan of Koenig Specials cars. I'm wondering if you can make some aftermarket body kit's for various cars so I can build more KS cars? I'm interested in the Light Tune body kit for the Ferrari 355 model. There is already one available for 1/18 scale, but I'd like to have one in 1/24 scale to add to my current collection. I'd also like to see a KS body kit for the BMW 850. I do know they exist in 1/18 scale die-cast BMW's, but is their a 1/24 scale BMW 850? Would like to see a KS body kit for both scales. Plus, I'd like to see a Transkit for a KS Diablo in 1/18 scale as well as a KS Countach in 1/18 scale. Also, can you make special wheels as well? Thank's!

MODEL! Look's like one of those I've seen at some big truckers gas-stations that sell toy cars. -
1/18 scale Transkit
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
What I mean, is, has anybody modified a 1/18 scale model with a transkit before? And what was your experience with the kit? -
Nice blue Focus! I'm a big WRC fan and watched it as often as I could when it was on Speed Vision. Then Speed became Speed Channel and they dropped a lot of programs including my beloved WRC. I was sad when I could no longer watch WRC on cable. Gotta get it on DVD I suppose. I'm afraid I don't know the details at all. I used to, but when they started changing drivers and I think Colin Mcrae passed away a while ago, I lost interest in the details and just enjoy watching the cars on Tarmac.

One of my favorite cars. I used to have a red one from AutoArt but can't remember what happend to it. Would love to find another one. It was 1/18 scale and had the same exact styling as yours. Very nice model, and paint look's perfect!

1/24 scale wheels are the easiest to obtain. I have seen available at one time "aftermarket" wheels for 1/43 scale models. I once had purchased a Minichamps Ford Escort Cosworth street car and replaced the ugly stock wheels with a set of BBS aftermarket rims that were sold separately. These rims were a little tricky as they were photo-etched spokes mounted on the basic "rim" part with a chromed lip as a separate piece. You had to snap off the stock wheel from it's axis, and put these new ones on. The rims really made the car look a lot nicer! For 1/18 scale, I have seen some aftermarket wheels available. There are some from Transkit parts, and I actually have two set's of chromed wheels from somebody. I can't recall the manufacturer's name at the moment, but can look it up. Last time I saw these 1/43 scale wheels was back in the mid 90s in a little store in Switzerland. Awesome little store called Model Auto. Tiny, but packed floor to ceiling with every scale and every kit you could want including ton's of "aftermarket" stuff!

1/18 scale Transkit
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
So I take it nobody has used any transkits before on their big cars? Hmmmmmmmmmm -
It's always an idea I've had as I sort of like flames, but I don't want it to really grab yea like flames do against a black car. I want it to only show up under certain light. A true ghost paint job, would be you hardly notice it until your close enough to it that the right light hits it and "POW"! I think it would look really cool if done successfully. I'd love to see a pictorial how-to on this subject using these colors. I've had same thoughts about black on black.

In case I ever get around to building a classic Hot Rod, most likely a 32 Ford Roadster, I've always visioned a white on white paint job. But, I was wondering, would pearl white show up against plain gloss white? I think it would with the right lighting. I'm imagining a pearl white flame job against a plain gloss white finish. Plus, I've never done a flame job before and was wondering, is it easier to do it with an airbrush whenever I get an airbrush, or can it be done with masking? I would think you can get more realistically flowing flames with airbrush than any kind of masking job. I would love it if somebody would try this and post pics of their process from start to finish. Thank you!

Question. I like flipping the body on it's backside so I can spray the bottom of the skirts and the inside to give it a complete finish. How would you build a stand to support the body "upside-down?"

1/18 scale Transkit

Maybe, but you can still distinguish between the 355 and Esprite. Still hasn't answered my question. -
1/18 scale Transkit
FujimiLover replied to FujimiLover's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
............................hardly. -
Hello there. On ebay, there lists a 1/18 scale transkit for converting a Ferrari 355 into a Koenig Specials "light-tune" car. You all know how much I love Koenig Speicals, so you all know how tempted I am by this kit. And don't worry, I won't bid without having the money first! Question is, has anybody used a kit like this before and are they worth it? Here is a link to the listing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=110409067968 Anybody worked with these 1/18 scale transkit's? The photo he displays of the finished project looks really cool. Just wish it came with KS logo's for the car. Would need a set for 1/18 scale Ferrari.
