  1. I usually don't save parts unless they are universal items that could be use full in future projects. Parts such as universal wings, wheels, sport seats, sport steering wheels, etc. I have yet to learn scratch-building and I admire those who do it so well. I have an RC helicopter of Airwolf and I've been wanting to scratch build some details for the nose, but can't figure out how yet. I'm referring to the three tubes up front, but I don't want to just stick aluminum tubes in its nose and call it done. It's gotta look right, and it's gotta have the piece where the tube actually meets the body. One of those details I need to learn how to make. As for parts, I have stolen a set of windshield whippers from one of my older 1/18 scale die-cast cars to use on the helicopter as they were the perfect size. Only problem is, its suppose to have opposite window whippers as they go away from each-other and not with each-other like on cars. Stealing parts from other models is fun. I always like swapping wheels from one car to another because sometimes a set of stock wheels just looks better on another car. I forget who makes the big 1/18 scale die-cast Honda CRX tuner models, but I rebuilt one using a wing from a 1/18 scale AutoArt BMW M3, gold wheels from same said car, and repainted it gun-metal gray. I also took the seats from the same BMW and put those in the CRX. I even used SMS's C/F decal on the hood and rear wing. I don't think I have that model any more, but it sure was fun building it. Might build another one some day. Swapping parts is fun, saving parts for other models is good if you have space for it and a handy way to organize it.
  2. I collect Kyosho's 1/28 scale Mini-Z bodies. I hated yellow up till I saw it on their Ferrari's. I also love the pearl yellow found on the Lamborghini Murcielago. So, I'd like to try yellow again, but not sure how to get smooth finishes. I look forward to seeing your yellow Modena done! Modenas are my favorite Ferraris of all! Ferrari Modena's, and Lamborghini Murcielagos for me! Yea baby, yea! Sorry, a little Austin Powers in me, LOL!
  3. As for car-phone, I wouldn't know except to scratch build one, should be a simple "brick" really. I don't think one would hardly notice it in the model anywhere unless it's really, really good. For the antennas, I learned a trick from Tamiya's WRC cars. I suggest getting a lighter if you don't already have one, and heat up the straight piece of sprue from the plastic tree that the parts come on. Cut a piece off, and heat it. As your heating it, it will start to melt, or ooze. As it oozes, stretch it. It will start making a nice piece of antenna. First one might not work, but several tries you should get it no problem. Or, I think your local hobby shop, if you have a descent Hobby Town, should have plastic tubes and such of which you might find the right size wire or plastic wire to make your antenna from that. Keep us posted! I'm nervous about building my KS Countach as it's so well detailed. I think being the enthusiast model it's more detailed than your Countach as it has a special display stand just for the engine alone! This may be one of those models that just sits in the box and never gets built. Oh, if you can find it. Fujimi does make an accessories kit which includes a bunch of interior junk and it may have a cell phone of which you can use. Plus, I think some of Fujimi's model kit's such as their FC3S's has what look's like a CB radio in it's accessories packet.
  4. Hello there. I generally hate the color yellow for cars. Except, there is something about the yellow on Ferrari's and only works on Ferrari's! I've tried painting yellow years ago and never had luck with the color. It always get's thick and clog's up, get's spotty, ugly finishes. I wish in the future, when I build Ferrari's, possibly my KS Competition Spyder, is to paint it yellow. I'm wondering what's the easiest and best yellow to paint with? And what's the best match for Ferrari without getting the actual Ferrari Yellow which will probably cost an arm, a leg, and everything else? My Dad and I were at the local John Deer service center to get some parts to fix our tractor. I was looking at their "industrial paint" section and saw they had some yellows as we all know John Deer is green with yellow trim. Would those paints work on plastic models? I think that John Deer yellow might look good on a Ferrari, what do you all think? Would like some help please, thanks!
  5. Man, isn't there anything the Government hasn't touched?
  6. I hadn't even noticed those buckles! I was going for backgrounds, shadows, tires, et'c.
  7. Oooo, ooooo, ooooo! Less than 24 hours, we shall see who's right, and who's wrong! Wonder which it'll be, hmmmmmmmmmm

    The Joker

    WOW! and WOW!
  9. That is why I usually, or try to purchase two bodies. One to keep minty fresh, and the other one to abuse on the track. However, I no longer race theme, but still love to collect theme. I'm actually more interested in the Dnano line up and glad to see all the bodies coming out for it. I previously had the red Ferrari 360 Modena, and the yellow Lamborghini Murcielago. I sold those a while back and now I'm itching for the newer white Porsche 911 GT3 model. I've already got a set of aluminum wheels from AVM for it. As for Mini-Z, I just recently got their brand new pearl white Lamborghini Murcielago AutoScale and I love it! I'm hoping to get the yellow and green ones before their sold out! Hope to god I can find the limited edition black Murcielago after I've collected the yellow and green. Would be nice to have the black one to complete the Murcielago set. I was hesitant at first to purchase the pearl white Murcielago because of Kyosho's recent change in their bodies finish. But, I was pleasantly surprised and the only difference I see is that the Gloss-Coat models had gloss black details, trim-work, and the new Hand-Polished job's have flat black trim-work. If you love displaying the cars as much as racing theme, always get two of each bodies. One to keep fresh, and one to race!
  10. As my parents used to tell my brothers, at least with grandkids, you can send theme back! As for movies, art imitates life! As Uncle Buck said, "Tomorrow will be a better day, it always is." as he's poring beer into the dogs bowl for the dog to drink! LOL!
  11. I used to take piano lessons a while ago. I enjoy creating music on the computer, but haven't been into it for a while. Most of us, our instruments are plastic, glue, paint, brushes, hobby knives, et'c. Our symphony is the kit we put together. Our masterpiece, well, that's up to you what you consider your master piece to be! I put all my music on my Ipod, plugged into my stereo system, and crank it up!
  12. Since I can't tell the difference between the different Countachs with the exception of the uglier older 400's, it does not matter to me as long as it represents the movie car well enough to say, "Hey, that was in Cannonball Run II!" I did not notice any red trim other than just the inside of the door jam's as they opened up the car. I do have the movie, but not sure how to capture a picture of it for you as it's a digital movie in my Itunes collection. I think the white fades to red just as the side skirt start to curve downwards to the chassis point. After all, it is your model so you built it as you wish, I'm not trying to give rules here even though it may sound like it. Only suggestions! I'm more interested in an ACURATE black Countach as seen in the first movie since that one completed the race! Remember, in the second movie the ladies kept having trouble with their cars braking down on theme?
  13. LOL! Okay guy's, jokes related to celebrities can be posted here, obviously none-celebrity related jokes go in the jokes thread. I would like to keep this a little more seriously if humanly possibly. Just a little, gotta have some fun right? Any other celebes in trouble that you know of?
  14. Okay, that belongs under the jokes thread! LOL! Nice................ Too bad David didn't have KITT to help bail him out last year! LOL!
  15. Nice start there, thank you for posting! If you want to be a real stickler for details. Remember that on the white Lamborghini, it faded to red just where the skirts rolled downward from the water-based paint. Also, if your model has opening doors, there was red inside the door jam's as well. This was clearly seen in the movie when they pulled up against the speed limit sign and the lady got out to change it. Thank you for posting your start! Can you please provide a picture of the model's box? Thank you!
  16. Absolutely nothing at all just like those who have posted celebrities passing away! That's why it's under general. We really don't have an off-topic section do we?
  17. Hello there! This week it's celebrities in trouble! No, I'm not talking about those who have passed away. Been through that list already! We're talking about celebrities in trouble with the law! Just checked AOL's news and it read in bold statements. JOYCE DEWITT BUSTED FOR DUI http://hotsearches.aol.com/2009/07/07/joyc...sted-for-dui%2F Remember the third-wheeled brunette lady that was in John Ritter's tv show Three's Company? She been arrested this past weekend for drinking and driving. She was cute back in the day's, but pics of her now, well, eh....................yea you know. I think about a year ago David Hassellhauf was arrested at the airport for being drunk? What's wrong with these celebrities who are supposed to be roll-models to us? I used to like David Hassellhauf, but now he's not so there if you know what I mean. Know anybody else in hot water?
  18. Are we talking "building", or "collecting"? Cause I also collect 1/28 and 1/43 scale cars. I prefer building 1/24 as it is the most common and it's the only scale that offers my favorite super cars. Have no experience in building 1/18 or 1/43 kit's, but would like to some day build 1/43 resin kit's. Collecting, 1/43 is the best as there isn't a car that hasn't been done! Plus, there small enough you can collect a lot of theme and still have space!
  19. Car look's good, background look's good, and shadow's look just right. I'll say real!
  20. Don't thank me yet till you have one! Then you'll thank me for giving you a disease. Once you have one Mini-Z, you'll want more! The AutoScales will become a highly addictive substance with no known cure since darn Kyosho keeps making more awesome cars! The Dnano's will be easier to control since they are more expensive, but the want/need to collect those is just as big. At least the Dnano's have their own AutoScale collection so you can just buy the bodies if you want to collect. However, unlike the Mini-Z cars, the Dnano's require special fitting parts for each body style where as the Mini-Z's are universal with a simple change to the front body locking plate, wheelbase length if needed and of coarse your choice in wheels with correct offset. Either way, both are very fun, and ton's more powerful than the X's. If you manage to save up for the Dnano's, you'll be surprised by their performance in such a tiny little package! Nothing "toy-ish" about these guys except for their micro size! Sorry to go rambling on here, but I've been in love with the Mini-Z scene since day one, about 9 years ago. It's a hard habit to kick! But at least it's healthier than smoking! LOL! "Which I don't do by the way!"
  21. Doesn't have much visibility does it? How can anybody see out of that thing with those tiny thin windows? I wouldn't want to drive that!
  22. If two wrong's make a right, does that make it a "pari-oh-legals"?
  23. In Auburn California where my brother lives, they have an annual car show there as well. Basically the same classic hot rods. In Orlando Florida, place called Reunion, where my other brother lives, they also have a car show once in a while but it is mostly Ferrari's and other similar exotic cars. Sadly, not much like that around my home,
  24. I have recently visited England and I love it. However, the only good hobby shops that I know of carry mostly die-cast collectibles. I've rarely seen plastic-model kit's available anywhere. Hamleys Toy Store used to be a cool place back in the early to mid 90's but last year when my family and I went there, I wanted to go back and check theme out but they severally disappointed me. They turned into more of a kiddies toy store than the way cool hobby shop it used to be. There are some very good hobby shops if your into collecting die-cast models. I've forgotten the name of theme, but again, no plastic kit's. Again, not knowing where in England you are, I don't know what's around you. The places I was talking about was in London. Your best bet is on-line stores, and of coarse the evil E-bay.
  25. You got lucky that you've got a model that is easy to replace in case you goof up on your first try. It's really hard on the nerves when you've got a very rare kit that you want to build and can't find replacement parts for it. Patients, patients, patients, patients, patients can't be expressed enough. If you want the best results you can possibly get on your first try, you've got to be patient with the kit. It won't be a one day build. Glue takes time to dry, and paint takes longer. The tag-line under my posts read's, "Quality Takes Time". I post that there more for me to remind my self that if I want something perfect, I've gotta take my time at it. I'm learning more and more with each kit I build. If you make a mistake with painting the body, there are plenty of threads here that talk about stripping the paint back to bare plastic for a fresh restart. Be careful, a lot of paint-strippers will DESTROY the plastic! So please read our threads on what will safely remove the paint without harming the plastic. Brush-painting is only good for small suspension parts, exhaust pipes, and other such detail's. I brush-paint the interior's when I do two-tones, or super details. Basic painting should be done with spray-can's. When you have the money, and want to explore, air-brushing is the way to go. You can get much better results with air-brushing. I my self have yet to airbrush, but want to get into it. Please read our threads before diving into your project. And please post pic's of whatever you do. Even if you screw up on something, one of us can help you fix it! Enjoy!
