  1. I think that 6000 was from RoboCop.
  2. Just a stupid thought, but could the die-cast have made the paint stick better than the plastic? And that might be why you had better results with the die-cast model than the plastic model? Just thinking out loud here..........................
  3. a 1/12 scale Cannonball Run Countach would be freaking sweet! As I stated with the other ones, can you find 1/12 scale ladies? I'm just not sure what the color was on the interior as they really never showed it. I'm thinking it was either tan, or black.
  4. Jamie Blake and Thunderbam drove a Corvette in the second movie, but I'm not sure what the model was. I don't think it was a C4, but I don't know my American cars that well. I plan on doing the Mitsubishi Starion that the Japanese team drove in the second one if/when I can find the right kit.
  5. In the second Cannonball Run, the beginning of the movie shows a white Lamborghini Countach being driven by the two "chicks". One was I think Catherine Bache, sorry if I've misspelled her name wrong, but the lady from the Dukes Of Hazzard Show. I don't know who played the blond one. In the second movie at least, they were refereed to as Jill and Marcy and I remember it specifically from when they were all preparing for the race and Vincent, "Dom Delouise" was talking to J.J, he looked at the two ladies and said, "Hi Jill, hi Marcy, cute car!" Back to the start of the movie, the white Lamborghini had drove into a lot where somebody had a big power-hose gun and sprayed their car. As they spun the car around, you can see the white paint being washed off and exposing the red car. If you look really closely during the beginning of this chase seen, and you see the white Lamborghini, you can barely see the red at the lower portion of the skirts. Also, when the passenger steps out to change the speed limit sign from the boring slow 55 to the more exciting 155 mph limit, the door jams were red. I believe this car was painted with water-based paint that could easily be washed off in order to quickly change colors and evade the police. As I said, any of you builders can build any car you want from these two movies, but I think no more than 2-3 per car. It would be boring if 5-10 people built the same exact kit. We need variety and we should get most of the character cars if possible. I just don't mind 2 no more than 3 people doing the same one as it will be interesting to see different skill levels, techniques, et'c, building the same car. You made a good point about plastic people. What's wrong with natural beauty? It was certainly popular back then as far as I'm concerned. I even remember a lot of guest-stars on Knight Rider that I'd considered beautiful, even the main characters such as Patricia Macpherson and can't remember who played the hot red-head April in the 2nd season, but man were they pretty! Plasic surgery is dumb unless you have health issues or an accident where you really need it. I much prefer natural beauty over anything else.
  6. LOL! When I first read the thread's title, I thought you meant pistol, not an airbrush gun! I'm looking at an airbrush for myself as well and would like to know what you think of this one.
  7. Too weird to be a model. I'm going for real this time.
  8. Exactly. This is for Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior, recently Dom Delouise, and now Farrah Fawcette. While Farrah wasn't in the second movie, all the other's were. So it's ONLY for the two movies. Last night one of the cabel tv channels was having a Charlie's Angel's marathon dedicated to Farrah. It amazes me how much more beautiful women were back then compared to many of the actress's today. I think today, my favorite two are Jennifer Aniston, just because she's so pretty, and Jennifer Love Hewett. Still, none of theme can match the beauty that Farrah, Jaclyn Smith, or the third Angel had back in the 80's. That and of coarse Barbera Eden back in her I Dream of Jeanie day's! So yes, the build-off is only for the two movies, not for the real life Cannonball race.
  9. Kyosho has released a limited edition MR02 Mini-Z chassis that has very special upgrades already included. Plus, they re-released their ever so popular body, the Lamborghini Murcielago, but this time in a gorgeous pearl white. I'm very strongly thinking about getting back into the Mini-Z scene with this new limited edition chassis and new re-released body! It won't be cheap, but it'll be an awesome combination. Only problem with the new limited edition chassis set, is that while it comes with all the optional upgrades, it does not come with a radio, PCB board. That can be another 100 dollars. I'm having the nicer 2.4 GHZ system put in mine. This car will mostly be a shelf queen. I know what you all are thinking, why spend so much money on something that'll just sit for long periods of time? Because, I think this limited edition chassis and re-issued body will be highly sought after in years to come. The original Murcielago bodies are already worth a ton of money if a mint in box one can be found. So, I think with the combination of the two, it'll be a very special package especially if kept mint. Plus, for the longest time, I've always collected theme before I discovered there was even a local racing group in my own town! However, I have not been racing with theme in the past year or so, but might get back into it. Almost tempted to buy two set's of everything! One to race, and one to keep minty fresh!
  10. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm afraid I dont' know him as well as Stewart.
  11. Sorry, I'm bad at spelling names, but you got the point! Jim and Drew, hmmmmm, some how I don't see that happening. Funny how there are a lot of "Caries" in entertainment, and none of theme are related! LOL! Speaking of which, I've always wondered if Robert Wagner, AKA Number Two, and Lindsey Wagner were related? Married, or brother/sister? "Number Two" is in reference to his role in Austin Powers.
  12. Walter Cronkite is an oldy for sure. I remember Bruce Almighty doing him, "And this is Walter Cronkite, and that's the way the cooky crumbles, and that's the way, uh, huh, uh huh, I like it! Uh, huh!" As he's holding a comb above his lip like a mustache. Seems wired that we've lost four celebes in one week already. Very sad news and I feel for all families and friends even if I don't personally cared for the celebrity himself. Billy Mays did annoy the heck out of me and I always muted his tv advertisements, but still very sad to see him gone.
  13. If I put a Ferrari engine in a Smart car, would that make it a Fart? If Drew Berrymore married Drew Carry, her name would be Drew Carry, if Drew Carry married Drew Berymore, his name would be Drew Berymore. Hmmm, neither would have to change names! LOL!
  14. Patrick S? I hope you don't mean Stewart AKA Captain Jean Luke Picard. He's one of my favorite actors! I forgotten about the Cobra that Frank Sinatra drove in C.R. II. I wonder if they used the same Ferrari that the "Priests" used in the first one, as an extra in the second one. Also, I noticed two Dino's. A gold one in the first, and a purple one in the second.
  15. My favorite is the white 206. One of my dream cars to replicate for street use! Very, very cool stuff!
  16. My fellow Cannonballers, I'm giving this build-off a full year so that should be plenty of time for everybody who want's to participate be able to do so. I'm not even sure when I can participate in my OWN build-off here. Right now I'm in the process of moving from my smaller bed-room, to the larger guest room which has two window's instead of one, so better air-circulation in summer, and will have a door to the bathroom for a more private bathroom. And that's going to take a full week to move all my junk. So, there should be plenty of time. Like I said, the dead line will be exactly a year from Farrah's passing away date. I think she died in the morning but don't know exact time. So we'll make it 12 noon for the dead line date. This should be a fun build and I look forward to seeing what you all do!
  17. There is a web site dedicated to cars in movies and should have the full list of cars used in both films. I don't have the link at the moment, but perhaps somebody else does and will post it. The web site is very good at identifying each and every car used even if it wasn't a main "character" car. As for this build-off, I'm more interested in the main "character's cars" than the "extras".
  18. I am not sure which Cobra your referring to. I don't recall seeing one of those in these two movies. If you can find a picture of it from the movie, please post it.
  19. The interior is already clear coated, and the body has already been clear coated. I'm just not entirely sure I'm happy with the end result of the body.
  20. The first movie had the Subaru, the second movie had the Mitsubishi. I've got both on Ipod and I've seen'em both billion's of times so I should know! The Subaru was the jet-powered car as seen in your photo. The Mitsubishi was a submarine much like James Bond's Lotus Esprite. Remember when Jackie and his partner dived into the lake to evade the police car? Remember when they hooked onto a fisherman's hook and pulled their boat along?
  21. I had originally planned on doing the black Countach with the wing up front my self. I've always wanted a model of that car, a good model too not some junk MPC kit. Sorry, I don't care for MPC's lack of quality, their Countach kit that I've seen look's toyish to me. If you can build a really good Cannonball Countach, that would be awesome, I might buy it from you if it turns out nice and sweet! Just don't forget to include the two chicks! I want to do the black Countach my self as stated, but I don't know when I'll get around to getting a Lamborghini Countach kit. Nor do I know which kit to get to be accurate, yet again, would I know how to successfully make that wing up front with the extra set of fog-lights. I tried building the wing/lights on a 1/24 scale RC car from Tamiya. Remember their 80's Tamiya Tamtech 1/24th scale RC cars? That didn't go to well! EEEK! I say the dead line should be a year from yesterday morning when Farrah Fawcette passed away. That would be a good anniversary date. Was there ever a model of the Mitsubishi Starion that the Japanese team used in the movie? The only Lamborghini Countach kit I have that I COULD use is my Koenig Special Countach model, but I dont' want to take that away from my KS collection, so it'll be for that instead of this build-off. Since I don't know when I'll be getting the Countach kit, it's up for grab's. Anybody that want's to build it may go ahead and do so. Even if more than one person builds it that's okay too. It would be interesting to see different skill-level's building the same car! Anyway, build what you want to build, but like the other threads, post what your going to build, and start posting pic's of the kit you'll be building from. Also, please make a note when posting, the character's names who drove that particular car, and the actors/actress's who played those characters. A very short actor-bio would be cool too. I'm sure you can find the information needed. Hope that is cool with you guy's? Oh yea one more thing! When you note about the character, please provide a picture of theme as well! Again, I'm sure you can find pic's with google! Cheers and good luck yea'll! AND NO, THERE WON'T BE A MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE WINNER EITHER! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL!
  22. Thank's for the tip's. I do plan on building some sort of spray-stand some day. I've had another look at the paint and it's not that bad, just would rather have a silky smooth paint job than a spoted one. As for the laqure ontop or not, that wasn't the issue. The paint look's nice, it's just got a bunch of dust/dirt in the finish. And that's not what I'm happy with. The clear coat works well for me and it does make things nice and shiny, and it's easy to spray. I dont' know if I want to just finish it and let it be, or get another kit and get it's body perfect. I'll try and post pic's of the body the way it look's now and see what you guy's think of it. I just wish I had a dust-proof spray-booth for my models!
  23. I've only got a small collection of 1/43 scale die-cast models. My dream would be if AutoArt would make 1/18 scale die-cast models of the KS cars in high-detail. I'd be in seventh heaven if I had found a 1/18th full-detail Koenig Competition in brilliant Italian Red! MMMmmmmmm, yummy! So, sorry, all I've got are 1/43's and a couple of Hot-Rod's in 1/64 scale size. So I guess my most interesting would be my 1/43 Smart Four-Two car. Tiny! Another killer 1/18 die-cast model would be my Dad's AEROCAR from the 1950's! Would be sweet if Franklin Mint or Danberry or somebody like that would make one.
  24. Let's give her credit for "Beauty" in Cannonball Run, she was great in that as well. My favorite "Angel" was Jaclyn Smith. "Hope I've spelled her name right!"
  25. Let's not forget Dom Delouise as I had mentioned him passing away in my Cannonball Run thread. Dom passed away a few months ago and he was one of the best comedians I think. They were all great entertainers weather or not you liked his/her style. Sad to see so many actors/actress's passing away in one year.
