  1. Targa's are way easier to do than convert's. Just get two nice lines drawn in, and carefully cut it off and your done! I'd get some plastic of same thickness though, and make the removable top. Some times the removable top is flat black, other times it's color-matched. If your really good, you could make little tiny mounting tabs! I've often thought of doing some targa conversions myself.
  2. Thank's foxer. Since it'll be a while before I get the HM mount, I'll start working on the body. I'll start with the nose and air dam to get it to fit the nose clip on the chassis. Then, the side screws for going into the holes on the chassis, and covering those up with some sort of side-skirts. Then a rear wing, and rear valance with duel exhaust.
  3. I go for Targa for two reasons. Look's much nicer, and much easier to do. Convertible version look's a lot more complex to get it to look right.
  4. Thank you, but it hasn't even started yet. Only thing I've done so far was glue in the nose piece for test-fitting it onto the chassis.
  5. I like using the blue masking tape that painters seem to use. It works well for me and I've had no run's from it. I plan on making the chassis the right length first, make sure the body will fit. Make the body mounts, get the body mounted, fitted and running. Then, do some body work, primer, paint, detail, decals, clear coat. Windows will be blacked out and drivers side/passengers side windows made and blacked out. This should be a pretty fun little project and I hope to have it done in a few short week's. First step is to get the HM motor mount for it and begin chassis work, and body mounts. Anybody know of any rally-style headlights, driving lights, etc', in 1/32 scale I can use? Perhaps some slot-car bit's?
  6. Last update for this thread. My nephew decided to take it home with him when hi Dad showed up last night from his trip to California. So, this thread can be closed and or deleted. But! That means I now have more time to work on my Honda! Yea!
  7. Why does it look like it's got a bend to it? The front and rear look higher than the middle as if it was sagging! At least that's what I saw. Nice color choice!
  8. I'm slightly confused. What exactly do you mean by ordering from the factory? Special color combinations, wheels, factory made kit's, engine upgrades anything that the factory offers? Nothing tuner wise or like what we see on Unique Whips? I'm not all that familiar with factory stuff to tell you the truth since I'm more into the tuner scene.
  9. Wow, I would've never thought of a wind-tunnel model! Good for those 7 who got it right. Bad for the rest of us who got it wrong! LOL! Good one! What's up for next week? We shall soon find out, so stay tuned same ROM channel, same ROM time!
  10. I'm going to save up for the Aoshima models and do both KITT and KARR, can't have one without the other, and the SPS mode that Aoshima offers. Look's pretty cool and it's nostalgic.
  11. My Dad and I were wondering about the added weight of the clay decreasing the fuel milage. We were pleased that Adam mentioned that and their method of comparing a smooth clay-covered car versus the dimpled-clay covered car. I also liked Jamie's method of creating those dimples! Anybody seen the duct-tape episode?
  12. Some of you guy's look like hobby shops the way your stacked with kit's!
  13. Updates: Nose cowling done. More of the pilot. Fuselage. The white section will be painted over with a nice light brown, and just in front of the wing gap is where I'll use the BMF foil. I guess these would be the hub-cap's. Not used to building/painting a static display airplane model so I hope Junior will be happy.
  14. Awesome work so far! I can never get yellow that smooth. It's too bad it wasn't the rear window that cracked. Then you would've had an excuse to chop the top! Hope you get a replacement soon for such a fine model. I kind of like the wheels that way. Has that nice German "tuner" staggard look to it!
  15. I think that lowrider one needs a couple of speakers in the back!
  16. Still look's like a creepy Decepticon toy.
  17. If anybody can find the 917 I'd like to have one. We have that model in the 1/43 scale Dnano, but not in the Mini-Z. So far the only Le Man's cars we have in the Mini-Z series is the Porsche 962, and The Mazda 575 I think it is. We will soon be getting some Sabber Le Man's car with the new MR03 chassis coming out soon. Sorry, I don't have the exact name on hand, but I'll edit it when I find it. So, having a 917 in the proper scale would be cool. For you model builders, you might want to check out a site called http://www.mini-z-bar.com/. I suggest the site because there are a lot of clever models on there that have been adapted for RC use.
  18. Thanks' guys. I got this at the same time/place I got my 1970 Honda Z Coupe and this airplane was only 6-7 bucks which was just the right price for a 9 year old. They did have larger sizes, but they got to be more expensive and I didn't have a lot of cash on hand. Since it's really hard to say NO! to a 9 year old, I went with the cheapest one we could find. I like the small size, but I find painting the figures difficult! At least difficult to get any real detail out of'em.
  19. I know this is a model car forum, but I haven't posted any builds in a long time mostly cause I haven't done any So, I'd thought I'd post this project I'm doing for/with my 9 year old nephew. My nephew Sean is such a big, big aviation buff and he loves Snoopy's little bi-plane which is this 1917's Camel. Most of the airplane will be painted in Tamiya Color XF-67 Nato Green. We did manage to find it in spray form, but unfortunately it's too cold, windy, and snowy to spray paint! And without a spray paint, what are you going to do right? So this will be a hand-painted job. Luckily, at 1:72 scale it's a very small model. Of coarse, being so small, painting the pilot is extremely difficult! The front of the airplane has appears what looks to be like aluminum, so I'll be using BMF for this. Tamiya also makes the best military colors I think!
  20. Thank's guys. I beleive that while 1/28 is now a common scale for RC's, it's not so common for model kit's. But, it would be cool to find some unusual model's at the right scale. Ton's of people have adapted 1/24 and 1/25th scale model cars to the Mini-Z chassis, but I like to stick with the 1/28 scale theme. So, when I came across these kit's I was amazed they even existed! Plus, that particular Ferrari model is really cool looking!

  22. I think that is somebody else's reproduction of KITT and not the original one. I remember living in Reno Nevada growing up in the 80's. There were a lot of car shows back then and I did see the original KITT there. That car show had a lot of cool rides.
  23. Hello there. Ever since 1999, I've been familiar with the growth of 1/28 scale RC car racing. Particularly, the Kyosho Mini-Z series. Just recently, like last week, I discovered there were a few plastic model kit's in 1/28 scale. Check out ebay item number 300353858436. A very cool racing wide-bodied Ferrari 365BB Gr5 of which almost has a Koenig flare to it. This being 1/28 in scale, would be perfect use for guess what? A Kyosho Mini-Z racer! So my question to you is this. How many 1/28 scale model kit's were made and what kind of cars were/are available at this scale? Is 1/28 more common than I thought? And can you guy's post link's, pic's to more kit's in this odd scale? How odd is this scale?
  24. Thank's, it works for me. But not as professional as I'd like. Still no paint-booth. She think's 10 is too many? She should see my Dad's RC airplane collection! She'll think that's beyond obsession! LOL! 10 is just starting! LOL!
  25. I'm going to guess that second one from the right just underneath the lettering is what you use for the curves? Look's like a curvy-type of tool.
