70's Vespa 1/24
Brizio replied to Brizio's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
For sure Vespa are fun! I built the lego vespa the same year it came out. But modified to resemble my '59. Vespa -
Looks a great start!

Time consuming for sure. Thank you David!

Agree on the metallic finish. The polar Lights had a good finish, probably the only one that offer that result. I had the Polar kit, but gave to a kid. I'm not so much worry on applying it, I put the camouflage decals on this Lamborghini in 1/32 scale. https://www.instagram.com/p/C0wKKQXRkFc/?img_index=3

It is, very well designed.

The kit is not pre-painted, so I'm going to paint it. Or better, I'm thiking to do the BMF trick, but paint the front end. Thank you!

Finally I start this build! All the piece went together beautifully. Aoshima perfectioned the assembly like none. Also keeping in mind that the parts have no flashing or other material to clean. Here the rolling chassis.

Here a project that should keep me busy for few days. It is an interesting trailer made by RM Johnson. why 1/64 scale? I had already the tires and wheels . I was considering to build it in 1/24 scale, but the size, since I would like to make a diorama with it, I opted for 1/64. First thing, I did a classic reseacrh on it, to find manuals, brochures etc... I draw very quickly a what it could loooks like, at least the frame or chassis part, just to have an idea about the dimension. The trailer taking shape. The top part of the crusher, and will be free to move/pose.

No worries. Funny because the other day I was looking a this kit, and going trough all the parts to see what what I still need to do on it. The dashboard came with the kit, altough it looks like it was casted in resin. I bought this kit in 2016 and was brand new, I mean the box was sealed. I open it to add Ron's photo, I also went trough all the parts to check them out. I remember that the dash was inside the box. But I could mistake it from when I got it last a the Ron's auction. When I was looking for buy it in 2016, I saw different Aoshima Legacy kits, some had different parts, wheels and accessories, also they rebox it. Maybe in some they add a LHR dash. The dash looks great, with all the details, and fit perfect.

It's a working horse, ex military. Thanks Donato! Thank you Chris! I had to ask a lot of people about the engine, because even the Santana did not have this model. Likely the conversion was a easy fix. Thank you James! He had a great stories! Thank you Les! That's what started me building the red one. Stumble one of Fred video and fell in love with the man! Than kyou Chuck! Thank you Jeff!

Few days ago I finish this one. I uses the Revell kit, this time of the 2 door Land Rover the "commercial" one. I went with this kit because on the photos the engine appeared to be a 4 cyl turbo diesel. In reality was not. Was a mish mash of parts on a 6 cyl. I even contacted Revell, and they said that was a 4 cyl... I converted to a 4 cyl diesel. Since this series never had a turbo. Other than that everything went smooth. Here with the red one.

Last Saturday I was a the Aoshima Work Shop in LA. They had three kit for sale of the initial D (street racing manga) series and all three in 1/32. These are snap kits, easy and fun to build them. The quality of those Snap kits (Same quality of the 1/12 -1/24) are great! Parts fit perfectly, and there is no flash on the casting. You can build them with basic tools, cutter, tweezer and maybe a q-tips for the decls. The decals also are nice, they are sticker size, soft enough to go around tight spots and strong enough to stay in place. These kits offer a great base to be customized too! Anothe cool thing that is offered in diferent Aoshima kits, is that you can choose the height of the car, you can have with a regular height or a slick racing height. During the Work Shop, the Aoshima team gave me (for free) Takeshi Nakazato's Nissan GT-R. The first thing I notice after opening the box, was the body of the car. Casted in black, and was impressive see how shiny it was. Look a the photos. Here a photo that I did at home, just to see the reflection. Impressive on a kit built out of the box.
