  1. Thank you Chris! Nice quality scrap metal! LOL! Thank you Bob! LOL! Thank you Dennis! 12 as 12000 lb of steel... Thank you Al! I know what you are talking about, I had a '74... Thank you Mario! You win the bet pretty easy! Thank you Tom!
  2. Thank you Ricky! I'm very atttached to this truck, mostly some stuff on the back, like the tricycle. It helped me to get a job as model builder. I though to paint it green, I love the green color, like my truck. Thank you Kevin!
  3. Thank you Andrew! Thank you Fred!
  4. I always wanted to do a scrap metal truck, I have seen few when for work I was going in some small towns and loved them. A friend gave me this C20 last year. Somebody start to work on it, shortning the bed. Since the bed was chopped off, not accurately for a short bed. I decided to bring it back to "full size"... The kit is the AMT 1972 Chevy Fleetside. The truck has some trims, that I remove all of them except for the tailgate and passenger door. After I painted the dorr and tailgate in a different color. As some would have replace them at some point. The rest of the body after been damaged, was painted in a torquise color. When the body was completed I weatered few time. The motor is the stock that came with the kit, I detailed up little bit the engine bay, and added wires and hoses. I replace the rear tire with some more "agressive", this will help during the winter, they said... In the interior I added few details too. Seat cover is a must! Of course the keys, on the ignition. I printed out some comic books from that era like who drove was into comic books. And also smoked Marlboro... Now to the fun part, the back of the truck... I built a classic rack for the bed, this will help to contain all the scrap metal. I started to make a washer and dryer, a oven. But was not enough to fill up the long bed... I also use some car parts, like hood, door and fender. After I made a file cabinet, locker, bicycle cframe, trycicle a walker, lamp stand, and a bunch of other small things. Building all the stuff in the back was fun, challenging and toke longer than build the truck itself...
  5. I usually use Zap glue.
  6. Welcome aboard!
  7. Love it!
  8. Thank you Terry, glad you like it!
  9. Thank you JC! Thank you Ricky for the kind of words!
  10. I was able to find different photos of the car, thanks to a friend of mine. Thank you Mike! I think the movement factor on a rally car is very important. Thank you Chris!
  11. I just finsh this model. I grew up following rally races, some I was lucky enough to be part of it. I have a soft spot for Lancia rally cars, above all the Gruop B. I was able to be a co pilot on few of them, and hear crazy stories from drivers. Even when tose cars are stand still, they seems go fast. The engine noise... Every thing on them were pushed to teh limit. When I start this kit, I wanted to capture the motion and power of a Group B rallye car. I saw a picture of this Lancia flying with the front end damaged, perfect picture for what I had in mind. This 037 was from the Jolly Club team. The driver was Biasion and co pilot Siviero. It finishe the Rallye Sanremo in 3rd place. The kit I used is Hasegawa, beautiful kit and goes together pretty well. I had to modify the fron frame/chassis of the car. I also used the photo etch details also from Hasegawa. The kit came with tarmac tires, I needed gravel tires. My brother design the gravel tires, and a friend of mine 3D print them.
  12. Great show, with tons of great models, some also ver very unique. Really enjoyed to see all the photos. Good inspiration for future builds! Congratulations to all the winners. I hope one day to attent this show in person!
  13. Welcome neighbor!
  14. I prefer sand paper. More choices on the grid to simulate any asphalt, and works on any scale.
  15. Welcome back! Building models is a great hobby. Above all for your kids. They can learn a lot of things that can be useful when they grow up.
  16. 1/8 scale. There is a opening for the hood hinges, the real car does not have this opening.
  17. That's a classic businnes on the front and party on the back...
  18. Pretty cool fun car to drive! A friend had one and it is a lot of fun! Never saw this kit buid. Probably because of the lac of detail, or the year of the model. A friend built one years ago using this kit and a variety of parts from die case model.
  19. I kind of like it, but a the same time not. Maybe because of the two tone paint.
  20. Very nice job! I just saw your wip. Now I know why not a lot of people build it! The Boomerang too loos great!
  21. I used cardstock a loto when I build models. It is a great material anche easy to find around the house. I will not use white glue, because is water based, this mean that it will take a lot of time to dry, and also that can bend or deform what you are building. I usually use superglue or zap glue. About sanding, you can do it, but you need to remember that is cardstock, so it start to have a different texture as soon as you sand it. I usually use a 600 sand paper. THe cool thing is that you can use also putty on it. I use the Bondo brand. Another thing to keep in mind if you build large parts is that you need to build some kind of support, frame or reinforcment. Like any other material.
  22. That's pretty cool! Great bond for sure! Your daughter has a good teacher, and for sure she will be build model cars, but also appreciate the 1:1 more and more. Love the color combo she pichked, and the roof faint job is amazing!
