  1. Watching avidly (but restraining myself from shouting Bravo with every post). And cutting the grain on an angle is a tip I never knew about. But I know there are more to come. BTW Frank, that's a great weathering job on your Stutz.
  2. You might check the seat department under Interior Shop here... http://tdrmodels.com/
  3. This thread was initiated a year ago. Does Round 2 STILL want to know what you want?
  4. I think it's very clearly on the record that Buddy Holly and the others had a strong influence on The Beatles, who changed not only music but the social landscape of the world. Ever heard the 60s mash-up of "Twist and Shout" with "La Bamba?"
  5. I was watching an episode of "Chasing Classic Cars" yesterday -- a 275 NART spyder sold at auction last August for $27.5 million -- the highest price ever paid for a Ferrari, or for any car sold at a public sale in the U.S. OOPS -- I was checking to see if this had been brought up and I missed post #18. Anyway, the following article is interesting... http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-08-18/ferrari-nart-spyder-sets-27-5-million-auction-record.html
  6. Huh? Please explain.
  7. Spectacular. It's the little things that make something extra-special.
  8. I was watching the Puppy Bowl on a TV next to the Super Bowl. It was more enjoyable.
  9. The box art shows left-hand drive. Does the kit offer both LHD and RHD?
  10. I see a lot of people coming late to this thread and expressing their amazement at certain things that have been covered in detail in earlier pages. I would recommend that they go back to page one to get up to speed.
  11. The Change Theme button does nothing on my iMac and only takes me back to the first thread on this topic.
  12. I'll go with that, but I wish the article had more information. Were these display models from the factory, or built by home modelers? Etc. It's not unusual for model cars to go for big bucks, especially if you're talking about the custom, commissioned works of art from sources like Gerald Wingrove and Fine Art models, whose museum-quality creations in scales from 1/15 to 1/10 go for prices from $30,000 to $40,000. What's a Fabergé egg worth? (Hint: millions).
  13. Great job. Love the animation in the very first image.
  14. Very, very nice. I just wish the pictures could be bigger.
  15. Hmm. This is a tough one. But I'll go with real because the windshield frame looks less klunky than most models and the tires appear to be bearing some weight.
  16. Superb. Great choices all around, especially the wheels. I wish I could get them in 1/16 for my Gullwings.
  17. There was a feature on the "Today" show this morning, which I think describes it pretty well. It was about the country's largest arts & crafts show in Anaheim; that's a $30 billion industry, with over 62 million crafters. The reasons? Here's what they said, and I think it applies very well to model car builders: - Relaxation - Personal accomplishment - Creative outlet Of course, there are exceptions to anything that can be inferred from research or experienced observation, but I think those are pretty good general conclusions. http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/today-visits-the-country-s-biggest-arts-and-crafts-fair/17wlt26s9?q=viral&from=en-us_msnhpvidmod&rel=msn&cpkey=8762aa66-5129-46d6-bdb9-70d1c6026e40%7cviral%7cmsn%7c%7c
  18. Check this link for the superb job that Harry did on the 1/16 Entex/Fuman Bandai Mercer. Curt Raitz also did a terrific one a couple of years ago. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/?showtopic=75837 PS: The Aurora Stutz Bearcat is a very simplified curbside with no engine and just a flat belly pan with an oil sump. I think that if it's married with the Lindberg 1914 Stutz racer with a separate chassis and engine that it could be made into a nicely detailed model. Various parts from the Fuman Bandai Mercer, such as the monocle windscreen, could make it very elegant.
  19. It may have been a lowball car for Buick, but you made it into a top-of-the-line museum model.
  20. Well, I was going to order one but I see it's over 140 euros, which is too steep for my wallet.
  21. Anyone for 3D-printed Hershey's chocolate from a vending machine? http://www.hlntv.com/article/2014/01/23/chocolate-3d-printer-hersheys-5-things-future?hpt=hp_bn17
  22. Great job on one of my all-time favorite cars. Is the metal trim on the hood separate or is it molded onto the body?
  23. I'd have to go to a thesaurus to find any more superlatives than have already been used here. Now that this build has a car in it, I think it should go to Under Glass in the Cars section, so people who don't follow Trucks can see this superb work.
  24. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to have to post this work in progress in a weird "Big Boyz" thread where many members will miss it and be able to comment on it. There is zero need for a "Big Boyz" thread and it should be abolished, and be incorporated into the general Workbench and under Glass topics. But, just like the many people who think there should be a simple "Competition" category instead of NASCAR, Drag Cars, etc., that would include all racing genres, I know that this thought will go totally ignored.
  25. Was the drive chain molded in that shape or is it flexible?
