  1. Available cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-Connoisseur-Classics-1914-STUTZ-BEARCAT-Model-Car-Kit-1-25-Scale-/161226507058?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2589d94332
  2. Just got this kit. We'll see.
  3. This looks like much larger scale than the ITC kit (like 1:1), which I believe was also issued as the "Bearcats" TV series car. I think the TV car was a George Barris replica, though the kit may not be based on it. Did it come with a machine gun?
  4. Just great. Like the Auburn, I struggled with this one when I was a kid and you've created real silk purse.
  5. My book source only states that wooden spokes were standard and wire wheels were optional.

Based on your excellent build, and having struggled with this kit as a kid, you've inspired me to order one and go back and see how it can be improved, particularly with the wheels. I'm not good enough to revise the angles on the grille or the boattail, but it's worth a look.
  7. As a previous owner of 4 Alfa spiders and GT coupes, this is very close to my heart. Great job!
  8. I sent Harry a copy of "The Wings of Eagles," and the same Harrah car appeared in Disney's "Summer Magic," as shown in his original post. One thing I haven't figured out is if the Harrah car shown in his post of the 1:1 (post #115) is the same car restored with a painted radiator and the optional wire wheels. It also shows a monocle windscreen, which can be swiped from the Mercer kit.
  9. I really like the "less bling" red radiator. It just seems more original and less restored, though there really isn't a difference in authenticity. But I do think the monocle windscreen would be a nice and accurate touch.
  10. What do you know about it? I also suggest you should review my edited post, which apparently appeared after Casey composed his response. Your posts seem to be continually negative. I suggest you look at post #15 and consider whether your opinion is worthy of dissing another member. I ask again: what is wrong with pointing out in this subject that Testors is not the only company that has "hobby shop only" offerings?
  11. " The Hobby Shop Only (HSO) series of kits Testors released is what Dan is asking about/discussing, so let's try to keep this topic about those specific kits, please" What's wrong with pointing out on this subject, on this thread, that Testors is not the only company that does hobby shop only releases? Why is it worth your mentioning? I think the XK-E story would qualify as a single online hobby source based on this question. What does it matter if it's only Testors?. Man, are you testy, and why do you feel compelled to address that, except for the fact that we don't like each other and you want to dis me? Sheesh.
  12. The newly reissued 1/8 Jaguar XK-E is available only from a vendor called toys2day (a German firm) or Amazon Germany, Just under 90 Euros.
  13. I guess we're talking about the most detailed and accurate Bearcat build ever done from kits.
  14. Photobucket works for me. I've had a few glitches with Fotki, which doesn't mean it's not a good choice, but I vote for Photobucket, which also offers tools for image modification.

I acknowledged the greater width of the whitewalls, but if you look at the way the tires sit in the wheel well, they're still bigger.

I still say the wheels - or at least the tires - are too small, regardless of the width of the whitewalls. It's marginal, but noticeable. You can also see that the kit's windshield is too tall and not correctly rounded on the corners (also a marginal difference). In any case, this build manages to make the hood fit flush, which few modelers have done from the works I've seen. I never did figure out how to make the too-vertical radiator/grille lean back a bit more. None of this is intended to denigrate the quality of the way the model was built, which is one of the best versions of this kit that I've seen.

Even if it were lowered a hair, I think Bruce is right that the wheels are too small. Maybe one of the Monogram Classics kits could supply better wheels? And, as mentioned, this is a sniggly, brutal kit requiring way more attention than it deserves, so this is an excellent achievement. At least the Lindberg kit has chrome parts that were not plated on the original Pyro tooling. This one gave me fits when I was a kid.
  18. Even Aston convertible and coupe variations offer a choice between rear seats or not.
  19. Yeah, I expect mixed reactions to the styling.
  20. As with most of Harry's work, this defines the advice to treat every component as a model in itself.
  21. Just introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. Styling influences from the original TR. This should provide good reference for Ferrari builders if and when a kit comes out. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/cg/5801/Ferrari-California-T.html
  22. It's usually Pledge Floor Care with Future Shine, but they keep changing the labels. Available in all supermrakets. It is not a wax.
  23. What's the source of the drive chain? Does it work (or at least is it flexible?) I need to find brake chains for a 1/16 Bugatti 59.
