  1. Easy enough to look at the model with or without a monocle windscreen. Could we see a choice?
  2. Boeing has introduced a technology that makes it possible to shut down and make unusable any cell phone that has been stolen. Of course, any technology that is ever introduced can be copied. This means that terrorist groups could shut down all of the phones in the world.
  3. Do you have more details on the velour carpeting? It looks perfect for my 1/16 Mercedes SS, which so far works very well with the "faux velvet" I found in Christmas ribbon.
  4. You're apparently turning a very good kit into a masterpiece. Those wheels will make a very big difference, and if you approach the rest of the kit with that spirit, you'll have the best one ever. Engine is amazing. Kudos. You're new to this forum, but obviously a highly skilled and experienced modeler. Is there a place where we can see some of your other work?
  5. You could put your Pocher experience into Revell's 1/16 Rolls Phantom II Continental and probably come up with the best version of that kit ever. [DO NOT use the "museum" kit -- it has gold-plated parts instead of chrome and klunky wire wheels].
  6. Ralph Lauren and his main restoration expert, Paul Russell, are not fools.
  7. For the second or third times, I have expressed to Gregg my concerns about having a separate thread for Big Boyz, but I have never received an answer.
  8. Recently, I've been surprised to see comments about, "what does our moderator, Harry P. do?" Well, Harry and many more of our members concentrate on larger-scale builds in the "Big Boyz" section. If you don't visit there, you'll see some of the best work available on this forum. I don't know why big-scale builds have to be segregated, but I I highly recommend that you put this on your watch list. Here's a current thread with one of the best builds I've ever seen here. 12 astounding pages. And did I mention the work of John Teresi and Hawk 312, among many others? All of their techniques are transferrable to any scale. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85253&page=1
  9. Those are the best Sedanca seats -- or ANY model seats -- that I've ever seen.
  10. The only other things I can think of are the cap and badge for the radiator.
  11. I like that, except for chrome wire wheels. I'd go for painted silver or body color wheels for a more period touch. And if I were to go for black with a red interior, I'd paint the underside of the fenders red, as Harry is doing with the Stutz Bearcat. It's endless what the options are, and every finished Pocher kit I've seen looks awesome, no matter how it's done. Check out these (which I'm sure you're familiar with, but this link is for everyone's benefit): http://www.modelmotorcars.com/html/museum/rolls/finished/royce_finished_gallery.htm
  12. Handmade patterns at small scale would be a hit-or-miss proposition, and there'd probably be too much texture to be realistic. You might try playing with the exposures and scale on this stuff, then making clear decals to put on BMF or similar material.
  13. If you're going to do a rally version, red with a white top (and Minilite wheels) would be the typical way to go.
  14. Cato pretty much described what is known about the Pocher fenders. My reference books show similar ones on Rolls PII fixed-head saloons, and this shot of a boattail one-of-a-kind is the only open car version I've seen with fenders like that.
  15. As a regular visitor to the AACA forum, I get what you say that European classics shouldn't have whitewalls, but I'm not as fussy about that as a lot of AACA members. As for chrome wire wheels, I believe the only Mercedes of the old days to have standard chromed factory wire wheels was the 540K coupe that was introduced at the 1936 Paris Salon (available as a somewhat inaccurate Monogram kit). However, they were available on special order.
  16. Is that in picture 1? I guess it's just a backup if you get one too muddy.
  17. One thing about these brass-era cars. Virtually EVERYTHING is exposed to view except for the engine, which is the main thing this exercise is intended to show. These kits show off a modeler's skill like nothing else. And Harry is definitely proving it.
  18. So you're just starting and already it looks like something from the factory. I will never have the guts to attempt a Pocher kit.
  19. I saw your post about this on another forum, and I know the modeling world has waited for a long time to have a Veyron kit. But I just wonder if Hornby/Pocher are willing to sink a large investment into a subject -- even though it's constantly updated -- that is getting so long in the tooth. Surely, there's a major revamp not far away at Bugatti.
  20. To use a very old phrase, "slick as a whistle." Just outstanding. As someone who really needs to build in larger scales to get an acceptable level of detail, I don't know how you and so many of our members accomplish so much in this sort of scale.
  21. Is this the step plate you mentioned? I wasn't familiar with this, and it took some looking to find it.
  22. I have a hard time believing that a car as gray as shown was ever black. For example, back in high school, my grandmother gave me a barn find Model T truck with original paint, and it was as black as the day it was born.
  23. Looks very nice, but it would be good to add some front and rear shots, plus engine (and if you have any of the interior).
