Yes, that pencil drawing is terrific.
  2. The Packard looks very much like the 1/16 1937 v12 issued by Entex, Minicraft and the other usual suspects. I've seen some gorgeous builds of that kit. Not only would it be a good hearse, it would make a nice 4-door convertible or woodie.
  3. Is the 1/35 Opel Admiral kit the same as the Revell version?
  4. Actually, you CAN upload pictures here directly from your computer, either in the original post or as a reply. You get an attachment feature in the box when you Start New Topic, and to reply, make your post after clicking on More Reply Options. In both cases, attach your image just as if it were e-mail. After you've opened that message box, go to ATTACH FILES at the bottom. 1.Click on Choose File. A box will come up with a list of what's on your computer. Choose the image you want, just like making an e-mail attachment. 2. Click on Attach This File. 3. The file name will appear as an attachment, and you click on Add to Post, then post your message. After posting, the image will show up as a small thumbnail; click to enlarge. You can also add mutliple image attachments in your post. The End.
  5. What's up with the Morgan?
  6. Just saw this on another forum: The James Bond DB5 that was destroyed in "Skyfall" was a 1/3 scale model that was 3D printed... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2232252/The-secret-James-Bonds-priceless-Aston-Martin-DB-5-stunts-3D-printed-models-used-Skyfalls-dangerous-scenes.html
  7. The Lincoln at the top is an abomination, but the '39, '48 and 56-57 models were the best, regardless of whether you count the 56-57 MK II as a Lincoln. The latter is one of the most beautifully styled American cars of all time, which came before Pininfarina's 1958 Ferrari 250 GT coupe of a very similar design.
  8. Okay, maybe I misread it, but what does "great work, guys" mean? Is Dr. Cranky "guys?" Where do they state they were talking about the book? Evidently, Derick was also confused by saying, "the magazine you see in his post is in his signature. it's below the gray line."
  9. No. The post I quoted and the prior one he was replying to both changed the subject. Neither of them had anything to do with this thread. In case you didn't bother to read the thread from the beginning: 1. It started out about the publication of Dr. Cranky's new book. 2. It evolved into another discussion about what constitutes selling on the forum. None of which relates to the new issue (and Hawk 312's signature cover shot goes back many, many issues).
  10. Pajamas? Meow? Please elucidate.
  11. I'm confused. What does the magazine have to do with the subject of this post?
  12. Is Rover the brand? I would suspect it's the car designation. EDIT: Google reveals it's the Hycote brand, which I can't find as being available in the US. Does anyone know of a US source?
  13. Great work. What body paint did you use?
  14. Goggles for the Beatles?
  15. Not sure why it's so hard to provide a link, but I did the Googling and yes, it's a 1968 Ford Techna show car.
  16. Can anyone do an illustrated tutorial on this? Written descriptions really don't do the trick.
  17. Go to your local watering hole and see if there's anything written on the back of the picture
  18. Mercedes Gullwing TOP: 1/12 scale, about 15" long MIDDLE: 1/16 scale, a little over 10" long BOTTOM: 1/24 scale, a bit over 7.5 inches long I'll let someone else do the math for you.
  19. Seems to me that one of the advantages of a forum like this is to pass along information about where our fellow modelers can find resources they need. This suggestion would ban mention of eBay or online stores by either a helpful member or a seller that uses another site. I think Harry has explained everything very well.
  20. There are a number of 3D scanners available, some of them adaptable to 3D printing. http://www.nextengine.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFlDNsRPN1A
  21. Here's what works and is approved by the powers that be... MY QUESTION: If Donn Yost replied to a post saying something like "I totally disagree with the prejudice against enamels in favor of lacquers because I have worked with enamels for decades and find them much more versatile. I've even compiled my experience into a series of DVDs with detailed information that you can find here: http://www.oldmansmodels.com/" The answer is, that's okay as long as no transactions are occurring on the forum, but only on the referenced website in the post, without pricing or detailed purchase information on this forum.
  22. Everything is just excellent. Great job on the wash on the grille, which seldom looks that realistic and clean.
  23. Well stated, Donn, and I think everything you said seems to fall under the category of fair comment and the guidelines Harry described. I'd like to hear reponses from people who had posts or threads removed because of the "selling" aspect, and to reproduce the content of the removed posts so we can see what isn't allowed.
  24. Hmmm. I opened a new thread based on a current news event of particular interest on this subject, but now it's post #114 in an old thread. Perhaps we should combine all General Lee threads into a single thread? Reminds me of a quote I read years ago when The Los Angeles Times newspaper was going through major problems: "It's fascinating reading the L.A. Times. You never know on what page you're going to find a Page One story."
  25. "Leave the price and/or a direct link to purchase said product out of the post and there are no issues. You can get the book directly from Virgil's website:" What's wrong with posting a link to a place where you can buy something as long it's not being directly offered as Harry described? I post links to eBay items and hobby sites all the time. In fact, you posted a direct link to Cranky's website. Maybe I'm being too literal -- do you mean don't post a link to purchase a product if you're the seller? Kind of a fine line here.
