Manufacturer logo decals...
sjordan2 replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What??!!! Pirated material on eBay??? Absolutely shocking!!! -
HOAX. The images I posted from scalemotorcars.com have just been revealed as created by a member there, and appeared on other sites, with spurious attribution. I apologize, but I can't imagine anyone going to these lengths regarding a model car kit. Now, I'm guessing it's the Porsche 993. Egon Hi guys, how did you like my little homemade reveling show or perhaps .As you I dont know anything about the new model, but I stick to my guess the F50. We will know tomorrow.

Manufacturer logo decals...

Can you go into detail about how this transpired? This sounds like an urban legend to me, and not like the difficulties I've read about for other cottage industry suppliers. (Granted, they didn't ask first and the corporate copyright police pounced on them.) But I can't imagine GM taking the time or effort to respond to such a small request, and I haven't heard of a case like this before. It's just unusual in the extreme. -
Pretty cool. You may want to check over in the General section in the thread about the new 1:8 Pocher kit, which apparently is a Ferrari F50.
-
I tend to agree. But it may have more appeal to Pocher's European customers. We'll have to see if it's engineered better than the prior Ferrari and Porsche kits were reputed to be. A comparison of its fidelity to the 1:1 can be made here, when the kit is available... http://ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-F50-103497
-
Looks like we're about there. (I'm getting these shots from a member at scalemotorcars.com, who's getting them from the distributor). The 1:1 below is a US version; the Pocher, judging by the lack of side marker and turn light color, etc., appears to be the European version.
-
Go back and look at the previous post. In other info, a European Pocher specialty site says: "I have received the following information from the Lemke company (old and new POCHER importer for Germany): The POCHER restart is done with a single all-new model in 1/8. More will follow. What kind of car that will be, the public learns only at the Toy Fair. A remake of the old POCHER models will not be, because the moulds are not to use anymore. So the traditional POCHER Classic models are well and truly history ..." So the Classic Pochers will not be reissued and will still fetch big bucks. The other upcoming kits, supposedly, will include various versions of the Porsche 993. One site says this is a prototype:
-
It appears this is going to be something of a striptease. But I think we can see where it's going...Maybe an F50? As the story goes, Pocher kit K62 was an intended kit in the late 90s, but the prototype was stolen, the Ferrari licensing was discontinued, and then-owner Rivarossi couldn't afford to pursue it further.

Here's what's out there now, and we'll find out Wednesday. Any guesses what's under the cover?

Killer paint job. What paints did you use, and could you describe your technique a little?

Now that Model Master no longer makes the vinyl top paint system, any suggestions for making a leather convertible top look like this in 1/16? -
this "Gallery" thing
sjordan2 replied to jbwelda's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It should be a place where you can go to check out the builds that individual members have chosen to display there, or images they find interesting for one reason or another. That's how it works on other model galleries. Unfortunately, that section doesn't have its own members directory, so you have to go to the Members link here, find who you're looking for, and see if they're participating in the gallery, then click on that. Don't bother using the Gallery site's search for member names or subject matter, because you won't find it. GeeBee has some nice shots there, and you need to find him in the Members directory, then click on his gallery from the menu on the left. Here's a gallery that makes it a little easier, and is cross-indexed by member directory and certain subject matter: http://www.scalemotorcars.com/gallery/ This is one of those issues where it's okay to make criticisms and suggestions, but I frequently have to remind myself that the forum and the small circulation magazine are financed by one person, not a moderate-to-large-size publishing company with a much larger budget. It's very expensive to build additional, more capable features, and I think what has been accomplished here - possibly the most popular and useful model car site - is amazing. All without a base of online advertisers. -
Round 2 wants to know what you want!
sjordan2 replied to Blown03SVT's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This thread was linked to Facebook in the very first post, as I just said. POST #1 THAT BEGAN THIS THREAD: "Saw this on Facebook: https://www.facebook...#!/Round2Models they are asking for inputs on new releases" -

One more time. By now, most respondents to this thread should understand that it doesn't matter what you say here. You have to go to the Round 2 Facebook page linked in the first post to make your suggestions so they can be heard by Round 2. It was never suggested that they're following this forum. -

The Model Master vinyl top spray system (base coat & texture sprays) looked just right for the leather convertible top I need for a Mercedes classic. I went to HobbyTown USA on Thursday to get some and they were out -- in fact, when I asked, they looked in the catalog and it's not listed any more. The lady said it's probably among the products that Testors discontinued last year in the overhaul of their product line. Looked for it online and it's shown as being out of stock. -
Check the original version of "The Italian Job" where Ferraris, a Lamborghini and an Aston Martin convertible, among others, are crunched to death or pushed over a cliff. True, most of them were damaged to begin with, but it's gut-wrenching nonetheless.

Just beautiful. I'd love to see some interior detail and whatever there may be of the engine.

Ditto. I (and others) posted that on Round 2's Facebook page. Good subject for Moebius and Revell as well (in 1/25), but it seems kits of that era need to be good candidates for rods, customs and race cars to be successful in the marketplace. -

Let's see...Both Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint say die-cast with a hyphen, though Danbury also says die cast. Hot Wheels spells it diecast. Webster's Dictionary says die-cast. I guess it's open to interpretation. -
