  1. Very nice, excellent design work. I like it better than the Shelby redux.
  2. Very, very nice. What paint did you use on the Buick woody?
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Pu9V85Njg8 You need one of these.
  4. So, what color and shade of Duplicolor paint did you use for the main color?
  5. Watching this with great interest. I had a '93 C4 (they made a quantum leap in performance and quality beginning in '92) that served me faithfully for 11 years until I sold it at 140,000 miles.
  6. I just saw this article on Barnes & Noble closing about 1/3 of their stores, which may be the beginning of the end for them. Ironic that Gregg worked so hard to get them to carry MCM, and now this. One more reason to subscribe. http://www.latimes.com/features/books/jacketcopy/la-et-jc-barnes-noble-store-closures20130205,0,2110753.story
  7. In that time frame it would most likely be a Silver Cloud I, II or III.
  8. Or Google for articles on best used cars and trucks (and worst), including Consumer Reports.
  9. Huh? What did I do there? What are you talking about? If you think I'm shilling for a manufacturer, I don't have a paint booth. I paint outside. I'm just passing on what I've learned from the 230,005 posts on this subject.
  10. It's true that this forum has seen a multitude of threads on building a spray booth, but the search function here is totally useless. You're better off just using Google or the scaleautomag.com search. I think that more than half our members would tell you to just buy a commercial spray booth like those available from Pace, typically around $200 (why spend $165 to build your own?). The only reason I can think of for building your own is if you specialize in large-scale models that are too big for these booths. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28124
  11. You've already gotten a couple of good suggestions, but you may get more responses from people who want to help if you move this thread to the Q&A section where it belongs.
  12. This is covered in detail in the General section. Lots of interesting info there, beginning on the page below. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68184&page=7
  13. I'd say the Pocher engine looks amazing. Assuming it comes out to around $700, looks like a deal to me.
  14. This is the most they've shown on their website. Here's the real deal...
  15. We'll find out in the Fall when the kit actually hits the market.
  16. Custom models from Gerald Wingrove (1/15 scale) or Fine Art Models go for upwards of $30,000, and you can't drive them even if you're Stuart Little. Wealthy collectors pay for and justify their purchases in many different ways. What's lodging worth? There's somewhat of a difference between my apartment and Downton Abbey. None of this has to do with fools and their money though, clearly, people without the proper means can spend money foolishly. I really get tired of the "more money than brains" idea.
  17. The price mentioned in my link above says it includes German VAT (Value Added Tax), but that retailer says they do not add VAT to shipments abroad. Therefore, you can subtract 19% from the price, which brings it down to about $660 USD. BUT what would the price be in the US after markups OR what would shipping from Europe cost? Anyway, I've found that for many products, early price estimates tend to be overly rosy.
  18. Except for my MCM subscription, I only go for specific issues of magazines or books relating to my research, and I can find almost all of it online at places like autolit.com, motolit.com or magsbackissues.
  19. Or you can get a prebuilt 1/8 diecast from Amalgam for GBP 3,895 ($6,178). Don't know if they had anything to do with the Pocher version, but they're putting together a series of 1/8 cars from the Ralph Lauren collection. The Lauren diecasts retail for nearly $10,000. http://finemodelcars.com/blog/?p=1115
  20. More info from a German retailer -- they expect the price to be around 600 euros, about $815. http://shop.autographmodel.com/2013-01-30-International-Toy-Fair-Nuremberg
  21. Superb.
  22. When you consider the prices of the 1/12 Tamiya Porsche Carrera and Enzo Ferrari, you've got to expect the Pocher Lambo to be way north of there.
  23. Okay, I've got to come out and say it. You have morphed from a knowledgeable comrade on this forum to a person whose posts have become increasingly negative and unpleasant. What's going on?
