  1. Probabli.
  2. Multiple dittos.
  3. I don't think this has been covered, or at least I haven't been able to find it...what scale is this?
  4. The "purple pond" generally refers to the use of a cleanser called Purple Power to strip paint from models. Available at grocery stores, hardware stores, etc. Lots of different alternatives. Some excellent tutorials on stripping paint and chrome at the top of Tips, Tricks & Tutorials section here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showforum=4
  5. Refer to this current thread... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71642
  6. Send a PM via this forum to Art Anderson, who knows more about this subject than most humans, and ask him to join the conversation.
  7. That door is a work of art by itself.
  8. Yeah, that looks more suitable for built kits. Good tip.
  9. I think what Rob is referring to is called a "tuck top" box with a folding lid, which you would use for a Google search. Here's one that's close to the dimensions of a typical kit box (9.5"x6.5"x4.25"for most of my Revell kits). These are also great for storing parts, tools and miscellaneous supplies. http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-8212/Literature-Mailers/9-x-6-1-2-x-4-Kraft-Literature-Mailers
  10. Complete history and episode guide: http://www.amazon.com/Prisoner-Dave-Rogers/dp/1566191637/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1362604917&sr=1-2&keywords=the+prisoner+dave+rogers The shows are available on DVD and on Hulu at The Prisoner 1967. The recent remake was weak. The Lotus only appeared in the first episode and the finale, but was in the same titles in all episodes.
  11. Have you done KAR120C with dish hubcaps from "The Prisoner?" I'd love to see that. My all-time favorite TV series. The series began filming in 1966, so I assume the car is that vintage or slightly older.
  12. Inkjet cotton fabric, all available at crafts stores. Use Aleen's Tacky Glue. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=inkjet+fabric
  13. Here's a 370-shot gallery of everything at the Geneva Motor Show. You'll also get a look at the Alfa Romeo 4C coupe, which will mark the brand's return to the US (speculated at about $50K). http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/gallery/32781/Welcome-to-Geneva.html
  14. The following is kind of an old web page, but it appears that Pledge with Future Shine was reformulated for the UK, including New Zealand, as Klear Multi-Surface Wax; some modelers say it comes out a little milkier than the old Future formula. Read this to learn more about it and its various names and substitutes: http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html
  15. Ummm...it's not like it's the Ford Ford Galaxie. From the New York Times: "The temptation to call it Ferrari’s LaFerrari must be stifled, the company says; its correct name is – like so many other one-name celebrities, like Sting, Cher, Madonna or Liberace – just LaFerrari (no space)."
  16. LaFerrari? Look at it from the point of view of those who speak Italian...THE Ferrari.
  17. I repeat. Someone needs to pin a new tutorial on using Photobucket since they've changed it. The old tutorials are outdated and don't look or work the same as the way it's shown in the existing pinned tutorials. This can be very confusing to new users, or those who haven't got the hang of it yet. As to cropping into a detail of a shot, this can be done on Mac using your cursor and command 3 to highlight the detail you want (like doing a screen shot with command 4, except dragging the cursor to select only a portion of the shot). I have posted the complete procedure several times, but since I'm on Mac, I think a PC user needs to provide a tutorial for the method most members use.
  18. So why has Ed Roth's Tweedy Pie been reissued for the umpteenth time? To begin with, the prior versions have sold over 11 million copies.
  19. From Wikipedia: "Stamp collecting is the collecting of postage stamps and related objects. It is one of the world's most popular hobbies, with the number of collectors in the United States alone estimated to be over 20 million" From The Wall Street Journal, Sept 2012: "About 7 million to 10 million people in the U.S. are serious coin collectors, experts estimate, and many regard their collections as investments in the same vein as antiques, fine art and wine." Further, model car kits represent only part of the output of companies like Revell, Airfix and Minicraft, who have substantial kit offerings in aircraft, military and ships, etc. It would be interesting to know figures about which segment is the most popular. I would assume (yes, I know) the product mix would have a lot to do with corporate decisions about where to allocate investments for new kits. Perhaps we car modelers tend to overestimate the importance of our interests in the scheme of things.
  20. From today's Geneva show: http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/5417/Ferrari-LaFerrari.html
  21. Best update on the subject that I've seen yet.
  22. As long as this thread came up again, I thought I'd add some info from a link I posted in General the other day. Those who live in the L.A. area can see Tweedy Pie at Galpin Motor Sports, a custom shop, along with other Roth creations. http://money.cnn.com/gallery/autos/2013/03/01/ed-roth-cars/index.html?source=cnn_bin Here's a review of the history of the kit: http://www.scalemodelnews.com/2013/01/125-scale-tweedy-pie-ford-model-t.html
