  1. This is the way a kit review should be. Many members show the parts packages, but the instructions really help.
  2. Ditto on all accounts. As a kid, tube glue was my downfall on these kits, leaving squeezed bits of glue at the seams and, inevitably, finger marks that kids are prone to.
  3. (but still cringeworthy).
  4. Here are more and better pictures of that car from a link posted on a current thread by Brett Barrow. http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=SC0512-126293 The shots don't look nearly as red as the one posted above. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74213&page=2
  5. That's a beauty. Fine work.
  6. Amazing work on the windshield. What did you do?
  7. When I was a kid, I almost quit building after dealing with the Revell 57 Cadillac Brougham, Ford Skyliner, and Austin-Healey 100-6. I was saved by JoHan and AMT.
  8. 1. Gourmet cooking 2. Researching and collecting automotive memorabilia 3. Researching and collecting classic films 4. Trying to get out of bed in the morning without falling over (arthritis)
  9. Nice. What paint brand and color did you use?
  10. And what's amazing is that most of it is 1990s video with visible scan lines, very pronounced on the big screen in the theater. Shows a bit better on home TV, and yes, jack the sound up. I agree it's the best racing film ever. Once, Raul Julia was slated to play Senna in a scripted film version, which didn't happen, but it couldn't have been as riveting as this documentary.
  11. Beautiful job. Any interior shots? Side note: Many years ago when I took my 944 to the Porsche dealer for servicing, I went over to a mechanic who was working on a 928. I said "That's a great car, what's it like?" His response: "If you get one, I'll see it more than you will." Old joke, but that's what he said.
  12. Very slick. Great color combo and detail.
  13. 19 years after the fact, there has not been another fatality in F1 racing after the safety precautions instituted as a result. That's worth commemorating. And if you've seen the documentary film, you'll know why he's still a legend today. Plus, he gave millions to help children in the barrios of Rio, also worth remembering.
  14. 3 and 5 window coupe bodies here... http://www.edeuce.com/products.html I think you could find some built examples at scalemotorcars.com http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/general-discussion/26794-wanted-1-8-scale-3-window-resin-body-big-deuce.html
  15. Beautiful work. Is that the kit chrome? Welcome to the world of 1/16. I think you'll especially like what you can do with the Model A kits (but I cringe to think what you'd do with the classic luxury cars!!)
  16. Look at just about any car brochure and catalogue. They're all retouched. However, I once worked with an art director who did Mercedes brochures back in the 60s-70s; Mercedes had a policy of prohibiting retouching then, so lots of people were busy dusting, polishing, adjusting lighting between every shot -- especially tough on locations like Monument Valley.
  17. The white flower is "Advanced Search?" Who would figure that out? And using it, I got only one or two threads specifically related to a spray/paint booth.
  18. Great job. What paint did you use?
  19. I found this in my files. You may be able to make your own stickers/decals by printing it out to size on silver paper or clear decal paper.
  20. Terrific job. Looks like the real thing. These 1:20 Revival kits are quite nice (and expensive)
  21. Maybe if this site had an adequate search function...
  22. Yup. Windfall gift taxes on game show winnings include at least state sales taxes and can range up to 50% or more. Fortunately, most shows offer a cash substitute.
  23. Sold, as far as I'm concerned. The only downside I can see is that questions need to have question titles (How do I ?, etc.) and that is not likely to happen because there are so many members who don't know how to write a decent thread title.
  24. I like something as simple as "How To" -- A place for questions and tips.
